  1. This is not meant to become a political debate... I just thought it was too funny! http://cincinnati.co...musement-parks/ The comments are intriguing, as well.
  2. Makes me wonder wether or not Coney Island would be interested in Big Dipper. Let me see... Relocation of Giant Dipper would cost roughly 2 million dollars, as compared to Raven's estimate of 2 million and Coney Island's Twister slide: 1.7 million. Probably not, but maybe... Just maybe...
  3. From my own experience, Outer Hanks is the best deal in the park. For $8.00 you get a rather large portion of fish and chips. Around $10 bucks for a large portion of shrimp and fries. The food quality is very good... (Even compared to similar meals at restaurants outside the park.) The food is filling enough that one visit to Outer Hanks can keep me occupied for an entire day at Kings Island.
  4. I don't know about Six Flags as a whole, but I'd think this should very much increase attendance in Magic Mountain. Keep in mind that Los Angeles is an extremely touristy area. As long as Magic Mountain can keep this record, they will have a much easier time convincing people to visit Magic Mountain rather than Disneyland, Knott's, Universal, etc. Since Cedar Point does not have any nearby competition, it really doesn't help them very much... Keep in mind that many people go to Disney exactly because it is not a mecca for thrill rides. My sister hates coasters but she loves Disney. I, therefore, doubt that the number of coasters at Magic Mountain is going to make a difference in attendance at parks like Disneyland. I agree with you, there. Still, I can see Magic Mountain (one of my favorite Amusement Parks) getting much greater an edge over Disney's California Adventure than ever before. Both parks have a family-thrill base... But one of them is much larger than the other. (Not to mention Universal Hollywood also has a similar family-thrill base.) On another note, I believe it would be a very good move on Six Flags Magic Mountain's park to market the natural beauty of the area. Truly stunning... In some ways, actually more beautiful than Disney World. (Seriously.) I don't know about Six Flags as a whole, but I'd think this should very much increase attendance in Magic Mountain. Magic Mountain will see an increase in attendance, but it won't be because people don't want to visit Diseny. Remember that that's a completely different market of people. And I'd have to disagree about Cedar Point's records not helping its popularity. Just because there aren't any nearby parks doesn't mean that it wouldn't make a difference. Remember, the majority of the people who visit Cedar Point are not locals, but people who have traveled there from all over the country and even from all over the world. Next year, I could see Cedar Point advertising to death that they are the "Best Amusment Park in the World" and that they have the "Number 1 Steel Coaster in the World". You bring up interesting ideas, and I largely agree. That being said, I'd be awfully careful if I were in charge of Cedar Point. Six Flags Magic Mountain will very likely try to snatch one, if not both of those awards... They certainly have the means to do so.

  6. Considering the fact that Orlando has no Amusement Park promoted almost entirely on thrills, I find this an intriguing idea that just might work... It depends on the way its handled, though. To beat Disney or Universal, they'll have their work set up for them. (In my opinion, success or failure depends on how many world records the park will break... This has to be the only advantage the park might fairly easily gain over other Orlando destinations.) I'd see a small park, with a few record breaking thrill rides and shows to be very successful... If they want to save money, they should take the Universal model and add a few 3D movies: A rather cheap way to make the park a full day destination.) They end up proposing a clone to Freestyle Music Park and I sincerely doubt the project will even get of its feet.
  7. (It seems that many people hate my voice towards this topic, but I just can't find myself to think differently.) What if you interview for and don't get a job? Your interview was for nothing? What if the Senate candidate you chose doesn't win? Your vote, for nothing? I don't understand why pure good intention later proved irrelevant is considered a bad thing.
  8. ^^^ My replies, in the same order of yours. The quotes got all messed up last time, so I'm doing it differently... Your replies have said I've said things that I have not said. I've said similar things, but not those exact words. Simple changes can have big effects on the meaning of a statement. Yes, I admit I'm not the best of posters. I edit far to much and will try to improve myself under that respect. In my original post, I meant to say that you should contemplate every single possible result. Rely on neither the positives or the negatives, but the whole picture. Agreed. For the "increased" comment, I had intended to make the link between Half Pint Brawlers and increased security indirect. Sorry if it didn't end up that way. Did I say I wanted people to get hurt? Those are the kind of comments that rile me up. I've said the Half Pint Brawlers have been very good for Kings Island, that Cedar Fair handled the event very well. So what do we disagree on? // I believe Half Pint Brawlers could've had complications, had it not been handled well. You disagree. All the while, this has been pretty irrelevant ever since Haunt opening day. On a side note... Gordon Bombay and 74Gibson, thank you for the laughs.
  9. You're adding words to mine, taking words away, thus altering the entire meaning of what I've been trying to say. Then why decide to become a manager? Institutions get robbed all the time, and it's not the desk clerk that has a gun to their head to open the safe- it's the manager. In almost every situation, the positive results far outweigh the negative. Still, in every idea, no matter how promising, one should weigh the positives vs. the negatives. You changed the whole meaning of my post by adding, in your interpretation, the word "negative." Negativity has nothing about it. One must be prepared, in order to cope with change and shifting times... Having lead the construction on part of the East End Veteran's Memorial Orchard, yes, I have. I decided not to plant 30 trees, as originally planned, as they might have eventually choked each other out. And that's not the only example. Being an Instructor in Boy Scout Troop 112, these kind of things pop up more than one might think. I believe you know want I meant, but, just in case, I've corrected my post. If you haven't noticed, I have not once criticized the actual show itself. The wrestlers do a really great job and their show is great fun. I'm one of the few who actually finds the wrestling to be quite realistic. Again, the words. I never before said right out that security had been increased only due to the Half Pint Brawlers, or even partially due. Not once did I claim towards knowing inside facts about the park's operations. That being said, I do believe the Brawlers had something to do with the increased security. I have nothing to say to that. If you need an answer, read again my previous post. Put the pieces you had taken apart back together.
  10. There's a certain motto I hold especially dear. "Be Prepared" Perform an action only after contemplating every one of the possible results... That way, there is not much of a way for that action to backfire. Not much of a way for you to make a fool out of yourself or others. As I've said, Cedar Fair made Midget Wrestling into a great thing. Not only did they bring in a new show that is extremely marketable to a wide variety of people even outside of the teenager target, but they handled it in such a way that problems would be very, very unlikely. (The security levels at Halloween Haunt, at least on the day I went were more than sufficient, if not outstanding. Made me feel warm inside that Kings Island truly cares about the safety of every single one of its guests.) A certain poster called it "unbelievable" that I haven't changed my opinion on the Half Pint Brawlers. I must admit I am a little offended by such a blunt statement, but I must ask him this. If Half Pint Brawlers couldn't of caused any problem of any sort, why did Kings Island increase in- park security? In fact, why do they have security in the first place? Is it such a scoundrelly thing to search and discover possible issues before these issues have even the opportunity to arise? And as a side note, very few problems would be considered major.
  11. There is a month between the last day of October and the first day of December. If they really want to bring back Winterfest, they have the time... I actually believe Winterfest has the ability to be very successful, even today. Though and as I've heard, Winterfest 2005 was a fairly neutered version of the original. I'm sure something big like "The World's Largest Light Show!" or something would bring in plenty of guests, especially if it were market it correctly.
  12. Think, business- wise... Why would Cedar Fair want to discontinue Halloween Haunt? It brings in many people. They bring in more profit from Haunt nights than many days during the regular season. On the other side, why would they want to bring back Winterfest? They tried that a few years ago and it was entirely unsuccessful. RaptorGuy, I mean this in the best possible way. Almost every one of your allegations are entirely untrue. Kind of makes me wonder how much you'd enjoy The Haunted Mansion at Disney World...
  13. You know, it really bothers me, the people who are saying this. There could have been problems. There still might be problems. Had Cedar Fair not handled this event so well, problems of some sort would have been inevitable. For nothing, indeed?
  14. I hardly doubt every man would have enough patience to read the entire page, coming upon rubbish like that. Ie. Its not entirely clear that the said website is unofficial... What about potential donors who don't read the fine print and come to believe the Big Dipper cause is a scam? These kinds of things are delicate... People are free to donate their money elsewhere, or not at all.
  15. ^ And what about people who really mean towards donating to this cause, but having been appalled by the ".com" website, decide against it?
  16. ^^ Did I fail, somehow? I believe we should drop this tangent and move on to the real effort towards saving The Big Dipper. This guy'll be a reading.... Feeding off our words...
  17. ^ Even though this is obviously meant to be a parody toward certain foreign scams, he did in fact ask for donations. http://www.savethebi....com/ABOUT.html http://www.savethebi...com/DONATE.html
  18. Why were you surprised? Due to the way Cedar Fair has managed their parks in the past, I had expected very heavy security in Festhaus, but a normal level of security throughout the rest of the park. Really? Do you have any kind of facts or numbers of security guards to back that up? Or do you just feel you saw more security guards so you can come on here and try to make a vague point out of the last three pages of you rambling on about your theory on how people seeing midget wrestling would lead to bad behavior? I have no guarantee to the actual number of security house, but there were many more security guards out and about the park, at least since my last Haunt visit. If you want I can later back this up with support, but now I'm off to school.
  19. I've been really wanting to experience a classic Pretzel or Tracy Dark Ride for quite some time, but until reading this article, had thought these type of Dark Rides were no more. Glad to hear I still have the opportunity to experience the "classic" dark ride! Now... To get down to West Virginia...
  20. This can be a very, very good thing for Kings Island. Seriously, this is some of the best kind of publicity. People, in general, are more inclined to have a conversation about a bad wrestling match than a good one. Also, the "I've got to see just how bad this is" mind set is bound to set in. Cedar Fair, to my honest surprise, addressed this season's possible issues with a very large increase in security guards throughout the park. In result, this last Haunt was the most enjoyable one I'd ever had, regardless the loss of scare zoning, as mentioned earlier in this thread. Very few belligerents. I saw none. The scare actors were very skilled, this year. In Urgent Scare, not one scare actor did a poor job... And I must leave especial commendations to Saturday's elevator lady. One of the best scare actors I've experienced, anywhere. On a side note, I'm seriously considering becoming a scare actor for the 2011 Haunt season.
  21. ^ Umm... There are those of us who were never at all worried about the situation inside Festhaus, but worried about what might happen in areas of the park with less security.
  22. So I should go back and reread this topic's discussion? Really? It all depends... I did, in order to make sure I haven't been making that big of misinterpretations. Maybe I've just been unclear, but you didn't seem to understand the message I was trying to get across 5+ pages back. Actually, I'd suggest anyone who's expressed his or her opinion to go back and reread previous pages in this topic. You can learn a lot. Agreed, with both of you. I've found this topic quite interesting and packed with discussion, but have not seen the fighting some people see. Maybe, just maybe, an argument or two. Still, I've interpreted this topic as being as a two- sided argument... Not all too different than the political system the United States has had for years. Well, maybe a little less corrupt. On the other hand, maybe I'm desensitized by all of the stuff we all had to deal with just over a year ago.
  23. That is one superb photograph! I've got to make sure I see Ghouls Gone Wild next time I visit.
