  1. OMG, there I am. Row 15!!! I love this one! Great timing and a great shot!
  2. Wow, talk about pooping on someone's parade. The carousel ride looked fun. End of frickin story. No need to chastise someone to the ends of the earth for a carousel pic.
  3. Yes, there are a couple of locker areas at BB and changing rooms. The lockers require a deposit and fee... I think last year it was $7 with a $5 deposit? Anyone wanna verify that?
  4. Blah. I didn't know to record it early, so we missed the first 15 mins. My son got a real kick out of this. He is becoming quite a Kings Island trivia buff and enjoyed pausing the show and looking all through the background at the skylift, kegger ride, etc. We are headed for Math & Science days tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll be hearing about this episode all day tomorrow! EDIT: Found it on YouTube for those who missed the beginning. Here is Part 1, I'm sure you can find the other three from there: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=nXfZuvLuzOY DOUBLE EDIT: We found this map online tokind of follow along and compare to the current map while we watched. Its from 1972: http://cartophilia.c...sisland1972.jpg
  5. This ride was awesome, up in the trees... one of my favorites that I really miss. The kids still don't believe me about it being there. Maybe I talk about it a bit too wistfully.
  6. I wear my adventure pants. Can't stand having something like a purse (or cross over the dark side into fanny pack territory *shudder*), so I wear a pair of pants that has a few zippered cargo pockets. Everything stays put on my legs while riding, haven't had an issue yet. Some ladies might not be keen to this, but personally, I like to go to the park unfettered and without any kind of annoying bag to deal with. If you have to go with a bag, I suggest something made out of canvas or hemp instead of those quilted bags... the straps do look a bit flimsy IMO....
  7. If this falls through, there should at least be a KI Garden Club. ;p Get a bunch of seniors in there to improve the landscaping or something. Sheesh.
  8. The problem is that, with the level of the flags, they probably will not end up in the picture and you'll just get a picture with three silver poles behind you, obscuring the view of the fountains. Kings Island seems to agree with this, judging by the timing of their publicity photos: http://www.visitking...today/index.cfm Seriously doubting that photo would be up with three honkin poles in the way. In fact, they'll probably remove them anytime they want to get a photographer in there for serious press photos. Just because someone doesn't want their photo looking like the Eiffel Tower is behind bars does NOT mean they hate their county. Get a grip. That's a rude thing to say to someone just because they don't like where the flagpoles are.
  9. I think we should have flag poles at the movie theater. Like, right in front of the screen.
  10. Yah, there is a lot of red tape, but the park said they'd be willing to at least listen and help with the project That would have been the biggest obstacle of all! If you need another pep talk, let me know and I shall pester you again. Your mother is a hamster and your father smells of elderberries. Now get out there and make a difference!
  11. What? I thought someone was in contact with someone at KI about this? They seemed to be very positive about it in the 5@5? What happened there?? Did you speak with them? Did whoever speak with them? No one is going to hold your hand. If you want it done, do it. People who are interested will hop on board and lend a hand if you can come back and go 'Here. I talked to So&So and this is what we have or can have.' Right now it is just a vague idea, a suggestion. With my post here, I was trying to be realistic about the liabilities involved and exactly how things could get achieved. If you feel so strongly about it, then a message board of people on the internet shouldn't be enough to drag it down, even if they were all poo-pooing the idea, which most people here weren't. I saw a lot of people chime in and go 'yeah'. Are you dropping the ball here? Because I'll pick it up.
  12. Yeah, looks pretty sparse. Is The Racer cam down? It looks funny for me.
  13. On our paper for this event, the teacher states that 'Due to the educational nature of this day, only selected rides, food and merchandise ares will be open throughout the park.' This is a quote from the park, found on this page about the Math & Science Days: http://www.visitkingsisland.com/public/visit/events/education_days_faq.cfm Hopefully the people who wander in are pass holders, because I can surely see some general public ticket buyers getting frazzled when they come in and find out some attractions are closed...
  14. I am a fan of the new PS, but to be fair...I doubt many kids ran over to the front of the Great Pumpkin sign and demanded a photo be taken of them with the sign. I'm willing to bet that the majority of posed photos at any park are instigated by the parents, and isn't really a fair gauge of how well the kids adore the theme. The rides, however, I think they love, and are willing to pose for any photo if it means mom & dad are happy and putting them on the ride.
  15. We went and it was fantastic! No waits for many rides, especially after 8. Best reason for getting a season pass is those days when you just take off for a few hours to hit the park!
  16. I would like one year. A single year. For them to use the budget to work on improving landscaping and theme. I feel like the effort was there this year with the PS theming and starlight addition, but a years worth of budget could go a long way in the park.
  17. It's amazing how many times I've seen people fix their hair, make-up and what not on the midway, or on the rides them selves. The worst is usualy on physics day, because at least one person from each school is convinced that the midway is a catwalk! As for my lose articles, many of you are aware of my pouch that goes around my neck and down my shirt. In it is my phone, pass, car key, any money i may bring with me, and of course my Mean Streak emergency pain reliever. I do wear a hat that goes down my shirt on rides, and my sun glasses has a strap. If I bring a camera in, it is my intention not to ride anything that does not allow loose articles (except Wicked Twister as the bin is right next to the seat). Everything else is left in my car, which i go to if necessary (like to change jackets). PhantomTheater, What kind of pouch is it? Like a sash with pockets or more like a fanny pack strapped on sideways? You've got me intrigued!
  18. I solve this one by wearing my 'Adventure Pants' which are cargo capri's with zipper pockets. Everything can be zipped up and it stays put. Yes, I've named my pants.
  19. Thanks, guys. I know not all teens are bad, but man, it's hard to plug my kids ears when I'm stuck behind the really bad ones for 30 minutes in line. Sheesh, what a pain. Also, I forgot this photo: I know we aren't supposed to take a photo of the screens, but this isn't my family, so I wouldn't have purchased it, anyway. I couldn't let it go uncaptured!!!
  20. Okay, so partial motivation behind opening day was to get photos to publish for work, but we bought Gold Passes this year, and we're sick of going bowling. We were all really pumped to get back to KI for our first ever opening day. I did an opening day review, but I only gave it three stars for a family visit, so don't come after me with the pitchforks and torches. This is going to be my new facepalm photo for the forum. Feel free to use it. ;p Ten minutes to get in around 11:00 Chilly Tower Feeling blah about this change... Planet Snoopy Planet Snoopy My son thought Linus could have looked better. I've bought mascot costumes before, and though these weren't too bad! Repainted copters Yeah, you bet we did!! We had The Best Teenagers in the World in front of us on the train. I groaned when my kids sat right behind them (after a HORRIBLE experience behind teens at Flight Deck), but they just talked train history, and were extremely polite. The accents were Kentucky, I think. I actually wanted to pull them aside after the ride and tell them how simply fantastic and courteous I thought they were. That old empty crate...the kids loved pointing out that bare spot on the map. An injured Monster. A staffer appears to be taking a survey(?) after BLSC is shut down. All hail the potato. Missing greenery. We stayed nice & toasty watching Duane do his magic. Want. This. Peeling wallpaper in BBoBH. I really don't think it was intentional, as there was no other 'worn' look in the room besides the fakey spiderwebs on the chandeliers. Hmm. New fav show. My girl wanted to meet Paige, who is always very nice about talking to the audience after the show! So, it was cold, which I hate, but I got my shivering Irish self a bucket of potatos and dealt with it. Dunno if we will do opening day next year (at least not with the kids..), but it was an experience worth having. I liked to see things as they were still getting set up.
  21. From Day One of 5@5: Well? Did anyone get a photo of those gleaming new countertops in Skyline??
  22. Oh, I'd love to see a photo of this.
