Also this year the new Funcentive Rewards program gives associates points for GR compliments. If you really wow someone then you'll get an extra 250 points (I think, check in the Star News) for it. There are two downsides to this that I can see already, people will compliment their buddies when they go to the park (this probably can't be avoided) and those of us in GR have little or no chance of getting the same compliments. We'll handle situations all day and not even get a simple thank you but we'll spend more time entering reports for the rest of the park. Now of course it's early in the season and this may not be true down the line, but I've got a feeling that we'll get to enter a BUNCH more this year than last year regardless. /my two cents Andy

The decision came from Nickelodeon itself. Not sure of the exact reason but it's not something we could really avoid. From what I gathered it was getting the axe across the board at every park. Speaking of which, I talked to a VERY upset family yesterday who "only come to the park to get [their] kids slimed!" We called an entertainment OD who came and discussed the issue with them. He didn't sound too happy about the decision either. Andy

My sources told me that the sign probably won't be up until August or so. Lots of red tape still needs to be negotiated. Andy

As far as I know there will still be nightly fireworks when the park is open until 10pm or later. I have not heard anything otherwise and am assuming that that means nothing has changed. I could be wrong, it happens from time to time. As for why it's not on the map I have no idea. We are open until 10 on every Saturday in May so the dates on the maps are not related to the fireworks as far as I can figure. There are tons of possibilities. Andy

I've worked my fair share of BAFFDs but the best day of last year was the 4th of July when the fireworks were cancelled. I remember working a double that Friday so I could get Saturday off (to work a double at my other job). I loved running around through the throngs of people in the soaking rain while the speakers were telling everyone that a tornado was on the way. That will forever be fresh in my head. So many memories of those 16 hour days.....I can't wait for this season. Andy

Um, I think that the trailer uses a bunch of clips from various sub movies and none of those pictured are actually in THIS movie. It's a Paramount thing, trying to show how Spongebob relates to some classics (ie. Hunt for Red October, U-571, etc.) Andy

Couldn't this same argument be used for the "game" thread? I hate picking sides on internet fights but this does seem sort of childish. Closing a thread after four posts was pretty weak since no one really complained about it. I'm not saying that the "sex" thread should have been closed but I see bw's point. As for this not being a "family site" I definitely remember seeing it somewhere that swearing was not allowed and that we were trying to appeal to anyone who would visit the park. Last time I checked PKI was definitely family oriented and therefore this site should keep that in mind if it wants to be a premiere fan-site. Again, just my two cents. I don't think it's fair to claim to be a family site at some points and not at others. The "game" thread was definitely family oriented and not meant to be a flame or anything of the sort. Scheduling depends on each individual manager in each department. I go to UC as well and worked mostly Sundays the last two seasons with an occasional Saturday. My manager never really minded since she had lots of workers fighting over those two days and since most of the people I worked with were in the same boat. Until the season starts it's usually not a huge deal though, I say apply and go for it. Andy

Pollstar.com - Kings Island, OH Thought this was kinda cool. Jars of Clay is scheduled to perform in Kings Island, OH on July 10th, 2004. Maybe it's going out on a limb but I'm guessing that will be in the Timberwolf Amphitheater, lol. Funny thing is that the venue itself is "TBA" meaning that maybe a name-change is in the works there too. Anywho, just thought I would post this cause others might be interested. That same link should be updated throughout the season as Pollstar hears of concert announcements. Andy

It really isn't that big of a deal, true, but when you're so used to seeing something in one spot for so long it's weird when it's gone. I remember the first day I worked after it fell down I just felt weird. It's really hard to explain but it was just there, it never really changed all that much and that kind of stability was always kind of nice. It's just different driving by the park on the freeway and not having a sign there, that's all. If it doesn't affect you then so be it, it's no big deal. Andy

I didn't know that you couldn't get into specifics about your scariest moment. I've heard my fair share of stories that I can't repeat and understand the reason for that but I was under the impression we were telling the stories we could tell. As for my "stuck on the lift hill" experience I should have added a LOL because it was entirely sarcastic. Nothing scary has ever happened to me at the park and therefore the "scariest moment" wasn't so scary. I even mentioned that in my post. Sorry to confuse. Andy

I searched all of the Archives and only found a handful of stories related to PKI. So unless you were involved with OSHA fines, the Top Gun collision with the maintenance truck, the woman dying on Top Gun or the closing of Drop Zone and King Kobra in reply to deaths at other parks then either your experiences were at other parks or they aren't in the archives. If you could provide more info then maybe I (and others) could see what your response to the question would be... As for me it would have to be stuck on The Beast on the opening run at the top of the first lift hill for nearly 30 minutes. Not that I really minded but it was as scary as my experiences have gotten. Either that or getting stuck on TR:TR before the ride even lifted at all. Andy
