  1. I've ridden the ones at Stricker's and Cedar Point. I haven't completed the full circuit on CP's yet (Only from Frontiertown to the stop near Millennium Force and Mantis.), but I'll knock that out this upcoming season. I'm also hearing Dollywood's train is one of the best of the best amusement park railroads.
  2. Just like the one near Ninja at SFOG, right Terpy? Sorry, couldn't resist! Robbie, I'm gonna have to take a ride on the Rock-O-Planes with you the next time I go to Coney if you're there. That's my favorite ride there and I've yet to really figure out how to get the cars REALLY flipping. One more ride you can add to the list is railroads. They're my favorite type of tame ride. I fell in love with KI & MVRR last season. I rode it nine times and every ride relaxed me. I've been to a few parks that featured railroads, didn't ride them, and will make a point to ride them this upcoming season when I go to those parks.
  3. There are always other options when riding flats. I can't ride most spinning flats either. I even get at least slightly dizzy after riding tilt-a-whirls (My second favorite flat ride.). There are flats that don't spin, though. This might be a little long, but I'm not sure what you like. Ferris wheels and flying carpet rides rotate, space shots, turbo drops, and double shots all launch, slides stay still, Screamin' Swings swing (obviously), Intamin first gen drop rides drop, ride on their backs, and go backwards, etc. Then there are those that flip like Skyscraper, slingshots, and Rock-O-Planes and tame rides you can control like antique cars. It's my belief that there's a type of flat ride for everyone.
  4. I agree completely. Does anybody remember that a building was removed before this last season near the entrance of AT (If I remember correctly.)? I'm HOPING a flat ride will go in that spot for the 2010 season. I LOVE tilt-a-whirls and don't mind Ferris wheels. Here's hoping that spot wasn't cleared JUST to reduce costs.
  5. Agreed. I only rode Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle one time and didn't ride it again due to the loudness of the guns. Whatever CF decides to do with the building I hope it's good. I'm hoping for a dark ride, but who knows?
  6. Thanks for the Maverick banner! IT'S SUH-WEEEEEEEEEEET! LOL!

  7. It takes me about a 25 minute drive from where I live in Fairfield.
  8. Sometimes I just like to reminisce about the park and lately have been thinking about a certain movie that once played in Action Theater. Does anyone remember the ride James Bond 007 that played in the Paramount days? I don't remember all of the movie that played, but I do remember James himself coming out to start the movie and shooting into the audience which gave the chair a jolt and red cascaded down the screen as if to say you were bleeding. I think this was viewed down the barrel of a gun and the chair also moved with the barrel after being shot. This was to re-enact the start to James Bond movies. I also remember being briefed about a terrorist, riding on a boat and a motorcycle, and being hit with a lead pipe while on the motorcycle. Other than that I can't say I remember much else about the movie. My first ride came on Math and Science Day 1998 simply because it was required to ride it. Does anyone else remember more about the ride? How many seasons it played? I enjoyed riding it, but only got to do so a few times while it was playing. On a side note, sadly, I never got to experience Days of Thunder, which was the predecessor to James Bond 007.
  9. I didn't like it at first, but I'm getting used to it. I'm liking the new look more and more.
  10. I agree with you on account of Blue Racer. I rode it once this season and that was enough. It seemed as if EVERY bunny hill on the way back from the turnaround was filled with roughness. I've never really had Son of Beast hurt my ribs like Blue Racer did. Yet, when I rode its mirror image 22 times this season just to the right of it I didn't experience even one tenth of the roughness and enjoyed my painless rides on Red Racer. Sonny's only given me one bad ride since I first rode it in 2000 and I hope I get many more rides on one of my favorite wooden coasters in the near future.
  11. I voted Other. I think the roughness is somewhere in between the second and third options. I just now realized what I do for the rose bowl to make the ride experience a little smoother, though: Subconsciously, I learned to take my back off the back of the seat and loosen the upper half of my body so I don't get as rattled. I'm guessing that's why I don't think the ride is as rough as everyone else. I'll admit to feeling slightly rattled when I'm on the final brake run, but not enough to make me not want to ride my 4th favorite wooden coaster again.
  12. Nope. Diamondback only gives me a head ache if I ride it many many times in a row. SOB will do the same, but if I ride either 5 or less times in a row I'll be fine. Diamondback isn't rough, it just vibrates after the hammerhead. I know what you mean about Diamondback, DropZone99. If I try to mararthon it, I will get a SLIGHTLY more progressive headache with each ride due to the ride's positive Gs. Toward the last two or three months of the season I tried not to sit on an outside seat near the back because I, for whatever reason, became hypersensitive (no pun intended) to Diamondback's shakiness toward the back of the train. It only really seemed really shaky to me on the first two drops, but I did notice it.
  13. DISCLAIMER: I am not a negative person. I am not trying to sway anyone's decision, I am just stating my views. In fact, Cedar Point is my favorite park. In my opinion, CoasterMania! 2010 has some of the worst planned ERT I have ever seen. I sincerely hope that they change a lot of things for those who plan on going: If you want a behind-the-scenes tour of Maverick then you have to skip the first hour of Millie ERT. Raptor is not scheduled for ERT along with Blue Streak and the rides are right next to each other. If you want to hit all four coasters for Friday night ERT then you MIGHT get one or two rides in on each coaster in the hour and 15 minutes planned. Last year, we were allowed to choose ERT rides. This year Mantis and Disaster Transport are ERT rides. I am interested in hearing what Walter Bolliger has to say, but HoliWood Nights looks MUCH better in my opinion. Looks like I'll be in Santa Claus, Indiana on June 4th and 5th, 2010.
  14. I'll be original and say Slingshot since it's my favorite flat ride at Kings Island. I'd definitely pay what they wanted at the time just so I could skip to the front of the line.
  15. All of the following were records in the number of times I visited them this season because I'd pretty much only ridden things at Kings Island and Americana/LeSourdsville Lake before this season: Kings Island - 23 Cedar Point - 6 Holiday World - 3 Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom - 3 Stricker's Grove - 1 Coney Island - 1 Columbus Zoo/Jungle Jack's Landing - 1 I hope to go to more parks next season.
  16. I'd be tempted to do the same thing, but I believe the trains have been removed from the track. :(

  17. I was there that day and saw Sean. I tried to get his attention, but I couldn't think of his name and he was on his phone. The park was DEAD that day (No pun intended.).
  18. The main reason The Racer gets so many riders each year is because they count both sides. If it wasn't for that fact then The Beast most likely would be the coaster with the most riders most years. That might change this year with the addition of Diamondback, though.
  19. Jackson, I don't like to hype coasters that I haven't ridden too much for fear that the ride won't live up to the hype. Simply put, there is NO WAY to overhype The Voyage. It really is THAT good! I do slightly prefer steel to wood when it comes to coasters, but The Voyage is my favorite coaster overall and I like it A LOT more than I do Maverick. You will LOVE The Voyage!
  20. As much as I like Cedar Point, I've grown to like Holiday World just as much, if not more than Cedar Point. I went to CoasterMania! this year and LOVED it. Having said that, some ERT was poorly planned. I only got one ride on my favorite steel coaster, Maverick, because hundreds of enthusiasts were forced to ride that coaster if they wanted rides. Why? There was no real overlap in ERT. I've already been to CoasterMania! and know that it will be awesome in 2010. If the two events end up being on the same days, however, I'll choose HoliWood Nights simply because I haven't been to it and because Holiday World is REALLY growing on me. If you like water rides then I'd choose Splashin' Safari over Cedar Point. I've seen the stuff for both Shoot the Rapids and Wildebeest and I have to say that I'm more excited about Wildebeest. You'll almost certainly get ERT on Wildebeest at HoliWood Nights, but will you get ERT on Shoot the Rapids at Cedar Point? Who Knows? Finally, Holiday World does not limit the number of guests you can bring to HoliWood Nights, whereas Cedar Point limits you to one guest per club member. This is the perfect chance to bring a few people you know who like going to parks and riding rides who will undoubtedly enjoy both the event and the park.
  21. Where in Slaughter House are you at, Gator? I thought you were still in Club Blood.
  22. That or I left it on the bench near the Nick U bathroom. I'm not too worried honestly. I have another Maverick shirt anyway. I'm either getting the shirt that I lost or a Dragster shirt when I go back up to Cedar Point.
  23. Well, Ronny, you wouldn't have gotten any Backlot photos out of me. LOL! If you remember, I left my phone in the car of the coaster. Thanks to you and the rest of the crew for discovering it, though, and giving it back to me. That was very much appreciated.
