  1. I don't think I've done that, but I have gotten first train of the day on my birthday and last train of the night a few times.
  2. VERY true, Terpy. I've found that Arrow coasters are A LOT more reliable than most Intamin coasters.
  3. Nice TR, Angie! It was a great day at my favorite park even with the heat, line jumpers, and it being a crowded Sunday (oxymoron?). Next time, though, I'm thinking Top Thrill Dragster should be hit RIGHT AT 10:00. Why the world's 2nd tallest and 2nd fastest coaster isn't an ERT ride and Iron Dragon is I'll never know. It also amazed me what a trimless ride on Magnum can do to your top 10 list. I'm not sure where to put it, but it's in there. One last thing, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Angie for showing me that seat on Millennium Force! For those of you who don't know, I wasn't that impressed with the 4 rides I got at CoasterMania! on Millie. It is now my #1 steel coaster and I understand why it has never been below the #2 steel roller coaster in the world since its debut. For those of you who don't think that Millie has airtime RIDE IN THE FIRST ROW OF THE SECOND CAR! When you lean forward because of the amount of airtime you get, you know it's GREAT!
  4. Honestly, I think a lapbar like on the Premier trains of Flight of Fear might just do the trick. However, I don't think the lapbars like those on inverting Schwarzkopf coasters would. The ones for Greezed Lightnin' would make me SUPER nervous if they were on Vortex. For the record, I think 4-1 is the magical row on Vortex. I only experienced head banging once in that row and that was going into the brake run right before the corkscrews.
  5. Does that include Reptar? (I don't mean to offend you, but if I do, I'm very sorry ). HEY NOW! LOL! Somebody's been reading other threads! No, it doesn't offend me. I discovered that Dramamine works wonders after RWW! As for Little Bill's, I prefer not to ride it because I'm tall, the seat back is low, and the dips and my back don't agree with each other.
  6. Uh, Jackson, I'm with Angie. Spinning rides and my stomach don't agree with each other. We're all a little different and sometimes this goes for what rides you can and can't handle. I'll ride ANY coaster you put in front of me, but I can't do that if I ride something like Shake, Rattle and Roll or Monster beforehand. I'm only gonna ride Chaos the next time I'm at CP because it's for sale. Next time, PLEASE think about what you say before you type.
  7. TRUST ME, POVs can be VERY misleading. I wanted to ride Mean Streak BADLY because I had seen the POV. Turns out that MS is my least favorite coaster. The same thing can happen in reverse too. I knew The Voyage would be an undeniably great ride havng seen the POV. NOTHING could have prepared me for the coaster high that I experienced after my first two rides on it! Having said that, yes, Millennium Force's POV looks awesome, but it's not the best ride I've ever been on (It's obviously not the worst either.), but my last ride on it was DEFINITELY my best yet, though. I'm looking forward to riding it again on Sunday.
  8. AMEN!!! Agreed. Maverick is my favorite steel coaster. I have to give this one to Diamondback, though. Millie gives a speed rush that not too many can beat, but Diamondback is just a better coaster in my opinion.
  9. I'm gonna have to say Intamin. They're innovative (as stated above) and Maverick is my favorite steel coaster. The ONLY reason I'm not saying B&M is because I can only think of two coasters off the top of my head by them that have no trims and no MCBR. I will, however, say that Intamin is also my LEAST favorite manufacturer because their rides always seem to break down A LOT. YES, I know I'm weird. Besides Intamin, The Voyage COMPLETELY blew me away and I could ride The Legend all day long. Because of this, I have to say that I really like CCI and Gravity Group.
  10. I can't NOT separate wood and steel or else I'd be going back and forth about placement like a maniac! Anyways... Steel: 1. Maverick 2. Diamondback 3. Firehawk 4. Raptor 5. Vortex Wood: 1. The Voyage (overall favorite) 2. The Legend 3. The Beast 4. Son of Beast 5. Thunder Run I've been known to update #5 in both categories when I actually go back and analyze the rides I've been on. Ask me in a month and I might have a different lineup.
  11. Nice TR, Angie. I had a GREAT 3 days at 3 parks from 3 different owners and being part of a wonderful group of 3 people (Yeah, I said it. LOL!). Thanks for inviting me and thanks to Kat for driving us all over. Also, for those of you who haven't ridden The Voyage yet, RIDE IT! There is NOTHING to describe the ride that it gives you. After my first ride and the re-ride that came after it, my adrenaline level FINALLY went back to normal about 2 and a half hours later. I've NEVER had a coaster give me that much of a rush before! Enough good things about this coaster can't be said. One more thing. For re-rides, The Legend simply can't be beaten at Holiday World. It's well-themed, delivers a great ride, and you simply have to love the wolf howl and the words, "DON'T LOOK BACK!" while going down the first lift hill. I remember all three of us contributing to the imitation of this on Diamondback the next day! CLASSIC!
  12. Before Kings Island gets rid of any rides I think they should put more flat rides in and do SOMETHING with the former Paramount Story area. That could hold 3 or 4 restaurants/gift shops, a few flats, or a very small coaster. I miss not seeing things from movies in that area and HATE seeing it empty.
  13. Diamondback, Drop Tower, and undoubtedly bumping into at least one forum member even when it's not planned.
  14. In my opinion, it IS better than Millie. MUCH better, in fact. Although, I will say Millie is growing on me. My last ride at CoasterMania! was my best and I wouldn't mind riding it again. I wouldn't mind riding Diamondback again, though, either. 52 times STILL isn't enough on that airtime machine!
  15. While I absolutely LOVE such rides as Maverick (My current favorite steel coaster.), Raptor, and Wicked Twister, there are some classic rides that should definitely NOT be missed. WildCat is a fun little Schwazkopf coaster that, in my opinion, should not be missed. Blue Streak has already been mentioned and will also have short lines when compared to other rides. If you want a nice view of the park and just want to relax then take a ride on Giant Wheel. Two rides that I'd recommend riding only because they are currently for sale are Demon Drop and Chaos. Last, but not least, take a ride on Cedar Downs. It's one of only a few racing carousels left in the world. Hope this helps!
  16. I really only like purple when it's complemented by another color. If it's by itself or with another color that makes it look bad (See both Bizarro coasters.) then I 'm not really a fan of it.
  17. I'm REALLY surprised that no one has said The Racer in its early years. *Hopes for a paint job for the 40th anniversary.* SO cool! Check out the blue handrails and red track in the second picture. http://rcdb.com/ig69.htm?picture=1 http://rcdb.com/ig69.htm?picture=5 I like Raptor both with silver and green rails. http://rcdb.com/ig1.htm?picture=7 http://rcdb.com/ig1.htm?picture=14 Medusa at Six Flags Great Adventure looked good until they painted it blue and purple and renamed it Bizarro. http://rcdb.com/ig502.htm?picture=9 I'm also a fan of Apollo's Chariot's colors for some reason. http://rcdb.com/ig531.htm?picture=2 I also second Mantis, Dragster, and Iron Dragon's color schemes.
  18. I tried row 3 on Sunday and I have to say it has some MAJOR ejector airtime! I almost like it more than I do row 16. The only thing I don't like is that you have to wait for the rest of the train to go down all the camelbacks and bunny hills. This is not the case in the back of the train.
  19. And there isn't a thing wrong with that! Of the 7 B&M coasters I have ridden, 6 of them are in my top 10 Steel. Ain't nothing wrong with that at all. Of the 3 B&M coasters I've ridden, I absolutely LOVE 2 of them. There's also nothing wrong with having a variety of manufacturers in your favorites. I haven't yet figured out my top 10 steel coasters yet, but I know for a fact that there will be at least 2 INTAMINs, 2 B&Ms, a Vekoma, an Arrow, and yes even a TOGO will make it in that list (See my KIC profile and you'll understand the reasoning behind this.). All of us are different and have different top 10 lists. It's what makes us enthusiasts unique.
  20. Terpy, that's HORRIBLE! But funny as well!
  21. Rows 1 and 2 are great. Having said that, my preferred seat is the seat on the left in row 16. Not only does it give some of the best floater air I've ever experienced, but I always like to lean out to the left before the hammerhead and am in no one's way when I do so. If I don't get row 16 I like anything pretty much in the last 3 cars.
  22. Actually, DropZone99, that small airtime hill before the last overbanked turn ALWAYS gives me INSANE ejector airtime. The other two always give me airtime too, but not as good as Diamondback. Overall, I'd have to say that Diamondback might just be a nice balance between Millie and Maggie. It gives airtime like Maggie (except it's floater air and not ejector) and it's gives some pretty forceful positive Gs like Millie. Unless I find a seat that delivers NO pain on Magnum and Millennium Force REALLY grows on me, I don't see Diamondback being overtaken by either one in my top steel coasters.
  23. Darlene - Congratulations on your 500th Diamondback ride! Your an inspiration to all young enthusiasts. Hopefully I'll be at the park for your 1,000th ride!

    Take Care,

    Tom

that photo of the sign looks sweet. and my bad my memorie is patchy like that. Yeah, I used to love looking at that sign back in the day. I actually kinda miss it. With respect to your memory, don't worry about it. Tom, who remembers things from 10 years ago vividly, but can't remember what he did 10 minutes ago.
  25. Well, Magnum hurts depending on which seat you're in, and Millie was good, but not great when I rode it the first time. I will say it is growing on me, though. All in all, though, I HAVE to give this one to Diamondback. SUCH a great ride! EDIT: My ranking would be this - Diamondback, Millie, then Maggie.
