  1. I had a great time hanging with you and your family. One of the biggest benefits of KIC is having fun with fellow KI fanatics! I have made some great friends meeting KIC'ers at the park. Glad you also had a good time!
  2. The spot lights moving like we are looking for a beast is a nice addition as well!
  3. Yeah, but I am almost thinking there is more truth to that than we might think.
  4. Beastie1980 and I was ridding DB last night and a skunk sprayed close to the station. Easier in the day we saw this groundhog as we were walking up the stairs to FD.
  5. I had a vacation day to use and wanted to visit another day before the end of daily operations. I headed towards KI at 6:30 AM from Indy. Got in the park about 8:45. There was a delay with DB opening so I only got 3 rides in during ERT, but rode a 4th time before heading towards The Beast. I was walking with a retired P & G employee who hits up the park a lot and we rode The Beast 3 times in a row. I was telling him about what I think about where to sit on a 3 seat car on a train. Obviously middle row is best, but we ended up ridding 3 times in a row. We sat on the same train and in the same car, but we shifted from middle row, to front row, and then back row. That order is what we decided was smoothest to roughest. I parted ways with him at that point and I headed towards BLSC. I then decided to get a good ride in on WS. Vortex was having an issue and maintenance was hard at work getting it up and running. I then headed up CM and hit up Racer and then on to AZ and rode Delirium since I missed it last visit. I was getting a little warm so I hit up Congo Falls. While ridding there were some people from possibly Pakistan with those really cool bright outfits (Shalwar kameez style) who sat in the back row of the boat. They were soaked from head to toe after the drop. They were smiling so I guess they enjoyed it and not upset they got them wet. I then headed back to DB for another good ride. I was then getting hungry so I was looking for some food options. I wanted Rivertown Junction, but it was closed that day and Hanks was also closed. I ran into Don and talked to him for a few minutes. I then ended up at Jukebox Diner. This was my first vist there this season. The burger and fries were great and the portion of fries was just right for a very hungry man! After getting full I decided to hit up Vortex since I missed it earlier. I had never done a invert right after lunch before, but normally ride DB right after lunch, so I figured I would be fine. I did have a little grey out on the start of the second loop that I had never had before on that ride, but not sure if it was due to having a full stomach? The ride did not bother my stomach in any way. A True Ride Warrior!! I then figured I better not push it and decided to take a nice relaxing ride on WS. I then wanted to head back towards DB, but on the way I hit up BLSC and rode The Beast 2 more times. I meet up with Gary Coleman at DB and rode 6 times in about 35 minutes. I then really needed to get something to drink, so I left Gary and got some water and a Coke. At that point Beasie1980 (Melissa) texted me and said that she was in the park eating in the FH. So I got back on DB and rode it again and met her and her family at the exit. Melissa had her sister with her and we took a ride on DB. We then headed over to The Beast and rode it 2 times. They wanted to ride FOF, so we headed that way. Got a good ride on it. We then hit up Racer, AE, Delirium, and Invertigo. Melissa had not ridden in the front seat closest to the control room, so we rode in that seat. I don't ride Invertigo to often, but this was a good ride. We then hit up FD. I took a few pics of SOB while we were back there. Good bye SOB! I guess it was just not meant to be. We then headed down CM and around to BLSC and got the white train. We stopped at the DB splash down and Melissa's mom took a picture of us with a train going through the splashdown. Left to right: Beastie1980, Indyguy4ki, Beastie1980's sister (I forgot her name.) We then rode DB, Melissa wanted to ride front seat, so I took a few pics while we waited for that row. At this point it was getting dark and Melissa wanted a night ride on The Beast, so at about 8:30 we headed towards The Beast. Here we are in the queue. I got some sun today. Okay, I got a lot of sun today! We got an amazing night ride in on The Beast. (I have only had one or two so far this season) After that I wanted to get a night right in on DB and then I was getting home for it was close to 9:30 and I had a 2 hour drive ahead of me. We had a great night ride on DB to end the night. All in an awesome day at the park. Thanks to KI for another great relaxing day at the park. Ride Count: DB - 15 The Beast - 8 BLSC - 3 WS - 2 Racer - 2 Delirium - 2 Congo falls - 1 Vortex -1 FOF - 1 AE - 1 FD - 1 Invertigo - 1 Total: 38 Thanks for reading!
  6. Hoping or more of the same today!
  7. On Friday 8/17/12 I took a solo trip to KI for the day. I have had a very busy summer and have not taken the occasional day off to get away and have fun at the park all by myself. I got up early enough to get to KI for ERT. The weather man was predicting rain, but clearing up in the morning. I could not seem to find a channel that would give any close time of what they meant by morning. I figured I needed a day away and early morning rain might keep the crowds away for a while. When I left Indy it was sunny, but getting closer to the Ohio state line was not looking good. Just a few miles in, it started to rain. By the time I got to 275 it was pouring. Once I got to the park it was almost done raining, but very overcast. Still very damp and drizzly I put on my Cedar Fair wind jacket and headed for ERT. By the time I got to DB, the rain was pretty much gone. About 1/2 hr later the clouds were starting to break up and the sun was starting to come through at times. By 11 is was turning into a sunny day. I got in 11 DB rides during ERT, not having to leave the same train once. A great way to start the morning! At park open I headed towards Beast. Had a great ride on it. I then headed towards WS and Vortex. By this point the sun was shinning and starting to warm up a bit. I was heading to FH, but it was not running so I hit up FOF. I then rode Racer and AE.While on the lift hill I was saying by good-byes to that first drop of SOB. That part of the ride will be missed by me. I then headed towards FD for 2 rides on it. The first ride was in the first car. (Best car on the train IMO.) It was getting warm and while in AZ I decided to hit up Congo Falls. I was in the second row and on the outside of the boat. I wanted a little wet, but not soaked and it worked out pretty good. I was getting hungry and wanted a burrito from Hanks. Wow that thing was good! I then hit up DB and Beast again, for what ride warrior does not want to ride DB and Beast right after lunch. This ride warrior does! I then headed towards the Fun perks booth and used my level 1 perk to ride Thunder Alley. I have never been on those before. They were fun, but I would never pay to ride them. Plus, I can pay to ride go carts on a similar track a few miles from my house. I go to KI to do the thinks I can't do at home. While in AZ I hit up FD one more time. I was getting a little warm again, so this time I headed toward RFYLCB. That was a fun ride and got about the same amount of water on me as I did at CF. I then talked to KingsIslandPR (Don) for several minutes over by DB. I had a nice conversation with him and after that hit up DB again since you know, I was just so close to it! I meet up with Tom76257 after leaving DB for he was just 2 cycles ahead of me and we headed towards WS. Always a fun ride and we noticed the SOB trains in the graveyard behind FH. We went to FH expecting a big line, but it was about 10 minutes so we got in line and had a good ride on it. We then hit up Racer and got a re ride. We then hit up DT. We then meet up with Windshawne by DB and rode it with her. We then went to The Beast and had good conversation in the queue. Windshawne was not feeling the best and sat out The Beast ride. When we got back to the final brake run, Tom and I both agreed it was running awesome. I I would be willing to beet we were going about 5mph quicker than when I had rode it earlier in the day in the same seat. Great ride! At that point it was about was 8:40 and I had a 2 hour drive ahead of me. Tom walked me to the gate. On the way out I got a cool evening shot of DB with a train on the lift hill and another in the splashdown. (Below) All in all a great day. I stopped at Guest Services and told them what a great day I had. (I just wanted them to hear some positive feedback since they most likely never get that,) DB - 15 Racer - 2 FD - 3 Beast - 3 Vortex - 1 FH - 1 FOF - 1 WS - 2 DT - 1 RFYLCB - 1 TA - 1 CF - 1 Total: 32
  8. Great report! I will be there on 8/23, sorry I missed you!
  9. Why not just send him a PM to his KIC account?
  10. Very interesting! Thanks for sharing Terp. What do you think will happen?
  11. Sure do Terp! Great PTR Ohiocolts! Funny you mention that Tig’rr only has seat belts. That ride has only had seat belts for about 4 or 5 seasons now. Before that there were no restraints. When I was your size and smaller I would ride with my dad and thought I was going to fly out of that ride. Galaxi was my fist ever steel coaster. I cried and my parents had to c onvince me to get on. After I rode I wanted a second ride! That day a coaster lover was born! LOL!
  12. Don't think so, haunt is to popular. Secondly, CF's CEO knows this is not Disney. Can't replicate Disney outside of Disney, the CEO knows this! Heck, even HW has talked about having a fall event. They realize there is money to be made!
  13. Having Pepsi with no Dr Pepper as a substitute was a big disappointment of my first trip to CP last year. They lost money from me on my per caps spending. I am a Coke person, and drink Dr Pepper as an alternative if a place serves Pepsi. I don't drink much in the way of carbonated drinks at home, so having a Coke or Dr Pepper while eating out is a treat. If a restaurant does not offer one of those you will not see me visit that restaurant much.
  14. I love CM, but Rivertown seems to take me the furthest away from the real world. That is why Rivertown gets my vote.
  15. I think that would be a cool transformation for TW.
  16. I am pretty sure we have seem a few of the cars being used at Haunt props.
  17. I am curious as to why you only picked those rides? What if there was a change in the area a ride is placed that would make the ridership go up? How much would the ridership go up on the rides in AZ if SOB was open or another big coaster was sitting in it's place? I may be wrong, but it seems that ridership on The Beast went up when DB opened. Also, If you compare Congo Falls and RFYLCB it seems that RFYLCB is more popular. It may be, but I consider that the capacity per boat is a 1/4 of boat on Congo Falls. Perception may not be the facts.
  18. I figured she would. Glad we were able to nudge her a little that evening of Coasting for Kids! I can understand the fear of DT. I enjoy it though.
  19. So, your mom got on DB? I take it she liked it? Sounds like it was a good trip for you!
  20. In the ratio of wood/steel, I do think we need another woddie. I am also making the assumption that we will never see SOB operate again. I do not think placing it in the same location as SOB is a good idea. That area can be used for a nice sized steel coaster. A new woodie needs to go elsewhere.
  21. I wonder if Morgan RV's decided to ever sell Indiana Beach, would they be interested in that park? It seems that IB has gotten better this season, but it may take a few seasons to regain the customers that have lost over the past few years.
  22. Great PTR Standbyme! You and the ride ops got some great pictures. I liked your green border around the pics!
  23. Here is the group picture sent to us by Don.
