  1. That is quite odd. I have a feeling it was not so much to do with the 2012 season.
  2. This does answer someones question a few pages back about the current water park rides being refreshed.
  3. Seems to me that it must be a individual park decision on when to update their site. After we went to the CP design, they changes theirs. Others are still on the paramount design. Being as the parks have a lot of content and pretty big sites, this probably does not come cheap either.
  4. They have a very sleek site, probably the best site of all the parks IMO.
  5. I just went to http://www.kingsdominion.com/ and noticed the site has been changed. I have not been on in several months. Has anyone else noticed it? When did this happen?
  6. How busy was the wave pool at that time? Just think, with another wave pool the river may not be so crowded.
  7. I recall standing in the parking lot discussing this with you months ago - although I say it is too cheap. I remember that conversation as well. The fun times you can have at KI, even standing in the parking lot!
  8. I don't know you personally GYK, but you don't strike me as the type of guy who you let others make decisions for you. Your saying you would rather take the word of people you don't know than go make up your own mind for yourself? I know of several posters here (despite IB's issues that need resolved) who prefer IB over KI. I prefer CB over Raven even though if I compare the park as a whole I choose HW. You won't know till you find out for yourself! I do hope you get the chance to visit before Morgan runs it into the ground.
  9. I don't usually visit the water park much, but I see this being a great asset for KI and will bring in new and returning guests. This will allow for a higher capacity of guests in the water park, and in turn help with queue lines on the dry side of the park. I am thinking in a few years we will see some new slides show up as well. From what I gather, the immediate need was more wave pool and lounging area. Very excited to see the changes!
  10. I am still not sure what to think. Being this was my child hood park and love that park for so many reasons, I have seen the decline in details myself since Morgan took over. When they bought it and repainted the water slides and other water park attractions, I had high hopes they would continue through the rest of the park over the next several seasons and really spruce the place up.They got a great start, but forgot to pick it back up. They may have the best safety record in the country, but when people do not see you taking care of the small things like keeping a rides loading station clean and rides looking run down, what do they do to keep you safe? In a small park like IB I don't expect a new ride all the time, but I do expect existing rides be clean and orderly, which I have not seen in the last few seasons. HW presents their rides to the best of their abilities. A scrambler is just a scrambler, but a nicely painted well presented scrambler makes it a ride guests want to ride instead of wondering if they are safe to ride it whether it is or not. How about you re-theme an existing ride or two per season? That is showing you are putting an effort into the park without having to spend a bunch of money. It takes me 1.5 hrs to get to IB, and 3 hrs to get to HW. As much as I love both parks, I am going to pick HW most of the time to patronize their clean rides and park and I prefer CB over Raven.
  11. Thanks for sharing! Those were some great shots of landscaping, showing how hard the grounds crew have worked at keeping KI very pretty this season. I also did not see any trash anywhere in those pictures! Kudos to KI!
  12. Not to say it is not possible, but would they feel the same way about that statement today? That was probably before they got delayed on The Voyage twice.
  13. I found it to be a little less than dead yesterday. The first 3 hrs were slow and great for us, but it really stared picking up about 1 I think. I waited 10 minutes for AE yesterday. Still, I can not say it was crowded.
  14. Got two before 11 AM on 8/22/11 Final break run for DB (on brown train): A Boy behind me: "We should not ride the brown train any more, it feels like it is coming off the track."Boy 2: "I don't see a brown coaster." Boy 1 - "No, the train we are on now see it is brown." After getting off The Beast a few gentlemen around 50 years old. Guy 1 - "Man, The Beast is not as smooth as I remember. It is getting old." Guy 2 - "Maybe it is the rider getting old." Guy 1 "True, but I think they are going to retire that ride real soon." A funny personal conversion: Later, in queue for AE the train before ours was dispatched and the ride op states - "AE, KI's only Hybrid coaster." I turned to my wife and said, "So how many people in the station think AE gets really good gas mileage?" After a quick laugh and not knowing if my wife actually knew the answer I said "Since you are a card carrying coaster club member, what is a hybrid?" My wife got it right. I was so proud.
  15. Great TR, thanks for sharing. Your detail walked me through your day very well!
  16. That name does not roll off the toungue very easy does it?
  17. I rode CCMR for the first time at Coaster Mania with Avatar this year and liked most aspects of the ride, but I did not like the restraints on the trains. They do not release very far making hard to board and they have to go down so far compared to AE. That was the drawback of the ride for me.
  18. Thanks for sharing your experiences. It is making me want to grab my son and take him over for another day at KI, even though school has started for us here in Indy. The last time he was at KI he was at the 46" mark and mad cause he could not ride DB. True Ride Warrior! I am hoping for a 2" growth spurt before the 2012 season. Then Mommy is never going to see the boys on free days!
  19. I think I was in the 2,000's but not worth mentioning after Avatar's score!
  20. I actually have a droid x and after a reboot and clearing of cache, I still only get the normal version even after clicking the mobile version. Is it just me or do others see the same issue. I know I am not the only member with an andriod phone.
  21. 'Tis an honor that I thought I had already earned in the past...anyway, I would like to thank the Academy, my mother and father...because without them none of this would have been possible... I am so proud of you standbyme! Congratulations! Great speech.
  22. It is one of my favorites rides during haunt! A lot of fog seems to stay in that low area and makes for a very cool ride!
  23. Great TR silver2005! Glad you had a great day besides the one issue.
  24. I little confused about this one ajwinters. Do you not consider WS a flat? As far as a flat I have no desire for something that I can ride at a county or state fair. I want something unique and original. That is why I was excited for WS. I would like to see another family coaster though!
  25. It is a cool looking coaster that really makes me want to take it for a ride when I see it. Welcome to KIC, ajwinters!
