  1. ^Sorry, I don't think my point is coming across clear. I am glad the park is adding this. I just had a confusing way of saying I think the park is letting this pay for itself. Kind of like how in theory tolls are charged to pay for the construction of a new road. Maybe without the charge we don't get this attraction because there is no money in the budget for it.
  2. There is not a ton of money to be made by having this as an extra charge in my opinion. If you assume the park will have attendance around 3 million and with the ride opening later in the year maybe 2.5 million people will have the chance to go through. To be even more conservative I'll say it will not be open for haunt and then maybe there are 2 million possible visitors. If they can get ten percent of park visitors to enter, and that may be high considering there are a lot of potential pass holders/repeat viewers, that is only $1,000,000 plus whatever they make in souvenirs. I would think the cost of this project would be close to that, if not more, with all the costs considered. In my opinion though, and I have no evidence to back this up, maybe an extra charge was the only way to add this. If they didn't have the money in the budget maybe charging is the only way to add anything extra to the park this year. So in essence this is paying for itself and it is a choice between adding this with an upcharge or adding nothing at all. That is why I am happy it's coming.
  3. First off, I hope no one is seriously injured. Secondly, as an afterthought if this wasn't serious, I hope there isn't a Cedar Fair knee jerk reaction like the rain collision from a few years ago.
  4. I agree that $2 hot dogs is a step in the right direction. I haven't been to Haunt this year so that is good to hear. Hopefully it will be a success and something they can expand on for next year's food pricing.
  5. I completely agree. If they would offer even one reasonably priced option they could sell a lot more food. Maybe a five dollar combo with a hot dog, small bag of chips and a small drink. They could market it heavily with the "magic" five dollar price, which seems to have worked nicely for Subway. They would have much less than two dollars in every meal including labor, probably closer to a dollar, and could make up for a smaller margin with a high quantity and increase per caps at the same time. I don't even like hot dogs, but a lot of people just want something they feel like they can afford.
  6. I used it, and with a group of three other people. None of us cared to ride alone. If there wasn't a single riders line then the train would have empty seats. All single riders do is fill seats that would be empty anyway. I don't see how this affects anyone in the regular line, whether the single riders are in a group or alone. The people in the regular line would still get on at the same time whether the single rider line existed or not.
  7. ^I called the park today, and I was told that the parking lost would open around 3:30. I also asked how ERT will work and the person I talked to wasn't sure but thought you would have to show your pass to get in the park at all, unlike on opening day when everyone could go in but then had to show their pass near Scooby to access the ERT. Again she wasn't sure about that so take it for what it's worth.
  8. I never post but thought I would chime in here. I would recommend going to prom. It sounds pathetic now, but a few short years ago I went to prom five times. Three while in high school and then twice after. The first two times I went with my girlfriend at the time. The last two times I also went with my girlfriend. When I was a senior, however, I didn't have a girlfriend. So I asked a freshman to go to prom with me that year. In fact, I knew a lot of people who went with underclassmen. At the time I didn't even know her that well but we became really close friends by the end of the school year. Maybe you could try something like this? I had a great time that year and every year I went. I wouldn't trade any of those memories. If you decide you want to go to KI that's cool too. I love going to the park myself. But I would recommend going to prom as it is an opportunity that doesn't come along very often.
