  1. I would love a B&M floorless, as I would have preferred Dominator to Firehawk(which I think flyers are a true fad)Oh well. OOHHH how about a new record of inversions on an Intamin mega-looper style. I think there is one currently NOT in the U.S. a ten-inversion coaster, that I can't recall the name of? What do you guys think?
  2. They way I understand some of the rides/coasters were(and still are)new technology. The Bat was the first suspended, the King Cobra, the first standing, and so on... With this comes some of the "bugs" to be worked out of the system. Top Thrill Dragster had/has a lot of downtime as does Kingda Ka. Since some of these rides are one of a kind or they were the first(at that time) of its kind, I suspect to see downtime. Correct me if I am wrong.
  3. Is there a huge difference between DB and (Carowinds) Intimidator? No I have not been to Carowinds, but they look somewhat similar. Which by I mean, large lift hill, lots of airtime, and high intensity curves(Helix) and the only big difference might be would where the coaster sits in the park and/or theming. My example for this is, I have rode Raptor, and its a great Inverted coaster and I have been on Alpengeist at BG. The themeing is much better, but the ride itself is pretty much basic elements(Large loop, cobra roll, corkscrew, barrel roll) The rides are pretty much the same, but like I said, the theming with Alpengeist. Both coasters are really fun, but I prefer Alpengeist.
  4. I was just thinking this...Your pictures were great Jackson but some did seem to "crisp". How you can solve this I don't know...Does your camera have a sharpness setting?
  5. Phantom, I was a similar size 6'4" 270 waist size 42. I fit on MF but not on dragster. Dragster had nothing to do with my waist line but, my hips. I have never had a problem with KI---Beast just a tight fit, Firehawk no problems or with Vortex. Flight of Fear was my only problem but, I think it had to do more with my height and weight combined. Anyone with a weight problem I can give some advice if you like(message me) I have lost a total of 60lbs. I started at 290 and I am 230lbs as of today. Not only does one need to diet but exersize is required. It can be done, I am 42 years old and am still working towards my goals.(you also have to reprogram your brain for dieting) GOOD LUCK GUYS, IF I CAN DO IT ANYONE CAN IF YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO IT. Btw I can't wait to see how I now fit in my favorite coasters this year!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I would love to see an end to this topic. At least until we hear an official word from KI(Cedar Fair) on the subject.
  7. This is a question that I want to ask because of something I was told years ago about Son of Beast. SOB has a larger guage track and it requires a slightly larger train to fit SOB's track. I do not recall where I heard that from, but it was in the back of my mind. If this is true, how did they get used coaster trains, did they get modified? This may sound like a silly question but, I was just wondering. THANKS!!!
  8. I hope not, SOB I believe was not that bad of a coaster. Now, I do understand that there was many problems with the coaster itself, like repair problems, and maybe structural problems. I hope Cedar Fair weighs all options before moving to tearing down or fixing that darn thing. The way things look the Texas Giant rehab seems to be going well(Maybe a SOB solution) Is the I-beam(Red) track, going to remain that color or will they match it up a little better? I have also heard The Rattler may get the same overhaul too.
  9. I love all Cedar Point coasters. My choice was Millie. On my first trip, the major coasters were Magnum and Meanstreak. I rode Meanstreak 4x in a row, I had a blast, no line. Late in the evening there was a storm and we waited it out, there was no one left in the park. We rode until we couldn't handle it anymore.
  10. Answer me a question please? The quote says something about things being ready for May 14. This seems like the story is old, but this is May 19th so what gives? Is the Timberliner trains ready or not? I guess I should not worry since I am ot going to HW until June 7. I hope they are ready by then.(LOL)
  11. What makes this coaster so bad? I know the video cannot tell the whole story. Manhattan Express doesn't look too bad. It looks like a hyper coaster, then moves to a looping coaster, is this correct? This is just my opinion, but I think the Bunny Hills(camel back) on Magnum XL 200 is rough. This may be of my tall frame(i'm 6-5) I have to hold up on the lapbar as we travel over the bunny hills or its too uncomfortable. If you are a (normal) height, it may not be as bad, but I'm not as lucky being a giant(LOL)
  12. If I'm with say, a group of 8, and they all head to a coaster I'm not particularly fond of, I will get in line with them and ride it with them to spend more time with them.. it's not always about the coaster. Your probably not the one I have any issue with. It is the complainers that are usually a buzzkill. Please go have fun with your friends. BTW I have never met a coaster I didnt like(LOL) maybe some I'm not fond of......
  13. Complain, complain, complain, thats all I hear on this and many other coasters. People say "Trims kill this, trims killed that" So don't ride it. I hear the grumbling, but I'm still behind you in line for these same coasters. Stay home and let me have fun, or better yet take your billions of dollars and go build your own park with whatever coasters you like. I know this kinda sounds hateful and yes you can have your own opinion, but the same people that are griping are the same people in line at the coasters that they have an issue with. SORRY, DON'T HATE ME FOR BEING HARSH!!!!
  14. I am going to Holiday World Monday June 7th. Any advice or tips for my first trip to the park? My plan is to drive to Hw on monday, then drive part of the way back and find a hotel room(park closes at 7:30 DARN) Then to KI on tuesday. Question, any attractions besides the obvious coasters that I should make sure to visit at Holiday World? Also- any restaurants near the park to visit, in order to save a few dollars before and after our park visit? Any comments/and or advice would be appreciated. I'm from southern Ohio, so i'm 2 1/2 to 3 hrs from KI. According to mapquest, I am about 5 hrs from Holiday World. I also know that it is in a different time zone than ours, so i'll gain and hour. Anyone going on this day, I can meet up and say hi. (always enjoy talking to coaster junkies like myself)
  15. One summer not too many years ago, my friend a I always rode The Beast front row at night. It was pretty warm and muggy all day, then around 9:45pm it came a down pour for a few minutes. We were next but let 5 or6 train loads go in front of us, then we decided to ride before everything closed. Just about a few minutes after 10 we got on, it was so foggy, we could not see 5ft in front of us. Pitch black and fog sooo thick, what little that we could see was fog covered. The Beast trains just seemed to fly.....AWESOME!!
  16. Fail ride? I was not thrilled with the Power Tower at The Point. It is ok but not that thrilling. As for Firehawk being a fail, the load time stinks, not the actual ride. When I went to Geauga Lake the que line was not as bad and the ride ops seemed to know how to quickly load and unload people. Btw has anyone rode a B&M flyer? How does it compare to a Vekoma? I say a B&M would be better, but not sure till I ride one.
  17. Benred23 Welcome, I am pretty new also. I agree, a steel re-track would be a good idea. Texas Giant is using the "Iron Horse" I-Bean system. I would love to see how it turns out. If it does well, maybe SOB could get a makeover. Only time will tell. Maybe Meanstreak could be on a short list as well. IMO I do not think Meanstreak needs anything done. Maybe some new Timberline trains.
  18. Last year at the Island, I asked the ride-ops for a true race, since that is the name of the ride. They both agreed and off we went. I remember back in the day when The Racers were the big coaster attraction and the raced all the time. I miss those days.
  19. If I recall correctly, Enchanted Voyage was like being transported into your saturday morning cartoons. It was a slow boat ride going from scene to scene with different shows characters with music and some movement. It is very hard to recall any of these memories since that has been over 30 years. Anyone remember if there were any Sid and Marty Croft characters?(Banana Splits) Sorry my memories are a little fuzzy. Lol
  20. Hey guys anyone interested, go to Yahoo and search Magic Harbor, Located in surf side beach. Great info was found like: owners, who purchased it and the "bad luck" the park ran into with a death or two and according to the websight, a women stood-up on the black witch coaster and was almost decapitated. I think the link I chose was "Defunctparks.com" The park was also known as "Haunted Harbor" by the locals, after the problems they had.
  21. This is my hometown. Camden Park preped me for the big boy parks. The Big Dipper was my very first coaster. In junior high school, we went to a spring trip. $5.00 admission tickets and the sky was the limit. I rode the Big Dipper 12 times in a row. Fun time were had. I take my son, who is now 9yrs old and "dad" is passing down the thrills. He is not up for the DIPPER yet, but I hope he comes around. I am not pushing him to do something he's not ready for. Maybe he'll come around soon. (I hope)
  22. Magic Harbour was the name. Thanks guys!! The deer subject is a little silly but, I have been deer hunting and its hard to keep a "buck" down. I have seen them leap tall fences and they are very quick on their feet. I have also heard of people seeing deer in the wooded area that The Beast occupies. I know the coaster is loud, and you think the deer would be afraid but, cars and semi-trucks are loud also and that doesn't keep them from meeting each other.(OUCH)
  23. I have two somewhat major questions. 1. When I was a teenager, I went to Myrtle Beach with the family. We went to a small amusement park that was adjacent to a campground. It was not Family Kingdom nor was it MB Pavillion. Anyone remember this? I think there was a Galaxi style coaster if I remember correctly. One other detail I remember was a Super-Giant ferris wheel that I was actually scared of. I am 42 years old so I expect I visited in 1984 or 85. Any help would be appreciated. 2. How does The Beast keep deer away from the ride? The ride is low to the ground and out in a heavily wooded area. I was told a deer whistle(like the one on some cars) is mounted underneath The Beast trains. Again any help would be appreciated. Thanks THUNDERBEAST1968 Sorry question #2 sounds kinda of silly, but I was just wondering.
