  1. No one said it was a secret that Diamondback was down for the week. Second, I was not able to change my vacation plans. I work at a hospital, and my vacation slot was decided months ago. OK, Rivertown, not much to do here. No Crypt, no Diamondback. One feature ride open. Action Zone, Flight Deck, and Drop Zone, SOB (Gone, pretty much) Delerium down Invertigo down. Coney Mall. Racers, Adventure Express (very near) WindSeeker closed/open all day, Vortex. Flight of Fear and Firehawk were fine. I am in no way bashing your park, but attractions that were open (coasters and thrill rides) were far apart and required quite a bit of walking. No, I do not mind walking, but this was a little much. Before commenting to this post, think of what was closed that day, then think of the next big attraction that is near. That is the point I am trying to get across.
  2. I went to KI, June 4th. I was very unhappy with the park. First the negative, then I will compliment. Diamondback being down stinks, Invertigo, WindSeeker(opened/closed all day) Delerium closed part of the day, The lines for everything else were busy. I saw a wait time for Adventure Express as a hour. Seriously, I have NEVER waited over ten minutes. I got bored very quickly with the park and probably won't return for several years, until they get themselves a major coaster attraction. I walked over to Soak City and was not impressed. For you guys who have season passes and can pop in and out of KI and Soak City, I am sure that it's fine. I am over 3 hours away, and I feel it was a total bust with all the mechanical issues. Now the good. I enjoyed The Beast. The off season track work really payed off. Coney Mall looked nice with all the updates. That's all with the good compliments. By the way, Is there a "pot hole" (track uneven0 on The Vortex lift hill? There was a thump, and the guests in front of us commented, and most of the train groaned when it hit.
  3. I went on Sunday June 3rd for the first time. Work your way up, Raven, then Legend, and lastly The Voyage. It's awesome and something finally dethroned the King of wooden coaster (The Beast) The Voyage is my new #1 wooden coaster. Sorry Beast and Kings Island. TDD 120-420, did you say that your birthday was Wednesday? Mine is too (June 6th) Happy Birthday. Trip tip- If you go to the water park. Rent a locker. You need $10, for the entire day(you can come and go from the lockers all day) $5 locker charge, $5 deposit, which you get back, once you return your key for the day.
  4. I know Cedar Point is getting a Wing Coaster, but have you seen, "The Swarm" love the theme. Oh, maybe a nice B & M floorless.
  5. Can someone please tell me, is Diamondback open on Saturday and Sunday? Under the discussion on Facebook, one visitor said "It is up and running today, and they had rode it 3 times. I know the heading reads "Closed Monday June 4th? If there is a mechanical issue, then shouldn't it be closed Sat/Sun ? What gives, I am totally confused.
  6. The Holiday World website says "Pepsi product and receive $5 off with an empty can.
  7. Sorry, Firehawk loads slow, not Diamondback.
  8. I have read Diamondback, Delerium, Surf Dog, Invertigo, WindSeeker, Firehawk load so darn slow, that an extra long line will make it worse.
  9. Anything else closed that we should know? I am not wasting my time and effort to drive three hours, to have half of the major attractions down.
  10. That also means lines for everything else will be long. If Invertigo, and Diamondback are down. Any other major rides down, besides the obvious SOB?
  11. How is it routine, and it is only the first week of June? Sounds strange to me.
  12. I will be at Holiday World tomorrow June 3rd, then to KI on Monday. Where in Indy did you find discount tickets? Kroger? Wendy's, McDonalds?
  13. I went to Kennywood on opening weekend, needless to say the water ride lines were short. It was 55 degrees.
  14. I would love to see the Big Dipper be relocated to a smaller park. Since I know nothing about Bluegrass Boardwalk, maybe that might be a good investment. Anyone have any opinions about Kentucky Kingdom (Bluegrass Boardwalk). Would it be a nice fit?
  15. I am going to KI on Monday June 4th. I hope The Beast is super smooth, like I heard. Does anyone know about discounts to Kings Island ie: Krogers, Wendys, McDonalds? I am 3 hours away, and my Kroger store has tickets for 36.99. I would like to find a better price if I can.
  16. I would love to see Cedar Point/Cedar Fair let the public pick the name of the new coaster. Any suggestions guys? Mine is Steel Scorpion
  17. I was interested in the wooden coaster at Happy Valley, with the high-five element and it being a dueling coaster. It was originally called Dragon Wings(RCDB), Now it's listed as operating and called Dauling Dragon, and it says that the coaster is currently operating. I looked on youtube, to hope and see this coaster in action, but with no luck. This Gravity Group coaster fascinates me. Anyone know what the real name of the coaster may be?
  18. That would be called paying it forward I know. That was one nice man. Do you know, if we all did this, wouldn't the world be a much better place?
  19. A few years ago, I was Christmas shopping near the beginning of December, when I had a flat while traveling on the highway. I limped my car off the road. A man, who didn't look like he had a dime to his name, pulled over and got a floor jack out (which sped up my tire changing) he let me use it. I thanked him and asked him if I could give him a few dollars. He proceeded to tell me that I was to do a good deed for someone else, and that would be his payment. I thanked him and told him "There are still descent people left in the world, and God bless you." There are a few good ones left out there.
  20. I know it sounds crazy, to think about no cell phones. How did we survive? Just fine if you ask me. My Dad always told me to carry spare change in the car's center console for emergencies just like this. I had a few dollars of quarters and dimes for pay phone usage.
  21. Back around 1990, Friends and I all piled into my car for fun at Kings Island. It was a Monday and Memorial Day weekend. About 20 miles from the park (I have a 3 hour drive) My car broke down. I had little idea of what to do. Cell phones were not the norm for anyone and I had no idea of how we were gonna get to Kings Island. We were a few hundred yards from a highway exit ramp, so I left my friends to the car, so I could possibly find a pay phone. I phoned Kings Island, told them my situation, then asked, "What should I do?" They transferred me to a manager of some sort. He asked "What highway exit ramp was I near?" I told him and he said " Stay right there, he knew where I was" . He personally came and got me and my friends. By then, I noticed a state trooper pulling into the closed gas station parking lot (He had noticed my stranded car, and came to get me) I told the trooper that I had talked to KI, and they were on their way. He even waited until the Kings Island manager arrived. I told him thanks for the help. When we arrived at Kings Island, the supervisor(manager) took me into his office. Gave me a note pad and pen, plus his phone to use. We called a nearby hotel, to book a room for the night, since repair garages were generally closed on the holiday. This generous employee told me he would call a wrecker service to tow my vehicle to a Toyota dealership, since that is what I owned. He also told me not to worry and to go enjoy the park for the day. I was instructed to meet with the Head of security after the park closed, so one of his men could take us to our hotel. The security guard dropped us off at the hotel (He walked into the lobby with me to make sure that I was checked in and we were ok) Tuesday we waited for my water pump to be fixed, then we proceeded to go back home. The employees that I encountered went way above the call of duty, and helped a stranger out. From the gentleman who came to pick us up, to the security guard that made sure we go into our hotel room, we were helped in every way of customer service that could of been done. Several days later, I wrote a Thank-you letter to the staff, I was very grateful for their help and friendliness. That is why I think the experience will never be forgotten, by the very helpful and friendly Kings Island staff.
  22. I try most coasters in different positions. Front of train, middle, and back of train. That way, I can figure out what place that I like to ride.
