  1. I am so sorry for you. All the Gold Star in Cinci, and you do that....silly boy. Why do you wish ill on Mr. Bombay?
  2. You didn't hear? It's great. One of the hills is a water slide now.
  3. There is a wooden bear in the woods right before the crossing on the left side on the way to Boomerang Bay.
  4. If I'm understanding you correctly, then there isn't really anything the ride op could have done. In order to kick someone out of line for line jumping there need to be two groups complaining. I will usually give a general ''line jumping is not tolerated'' line to the people that were accused if there was only one person or group accusing them. So company policy is that people can cut in line without punishment as long as no more than one group complains? Either you need to re-read your employee manual, or they need to re-write the employee manual. The issue with kicking people out if only one group complains is that that group could easily lie about it for some reason or another. If I see line jumping I kick them out even if no one complains.
  5. Well, technically we're only supposed to kick the people out if two groups complain.
  6. The worst case I've ever experienced was at our own Cedar Point. (The following information is given for factual reference only, and it does come full-circle in the end. I'm the farthest thing from a racist you could find.) A group of friends and I were in line for Mantis (which, as you all know, moves at a snail's pace anyway. One young African American kid excused himself through the line, claiming he had friends up ahead. He then stopped between two groups that did not recognize him and stood by himself. Within minutes, a group of a half-dozen rather large, rather intimidating African American men did the same, passing by everyone in line to "reunite" with their friend who had cut a few moments before. This all happened in line behind us, so we were still ahead of this group. In other words, the group had sent forward a "scout" to get as far as he could in line without anyone saying something, and then they simply said "Oh, we're with him" and made their way towards the front. I'm sure they skipped at least twenty minutes of wait time. My dramatic, high school friend who always says what everyone else is thinking (you know the type) waited for the ride and, upon entering the station, told the person with the height stick. He directed us towards the ride operator, who directed us to the ride supervisor. She listened to our story, sunglasses over her eyes, a stern look on her face. She had us point out the group, who was just making it up the stairs to the station by time we were talking to her. She thanked us. Nothing happened. We waited at the exit and watched as they walked away, having enjoyed their virtually wait-free ride at everyone else's expense, laughing and hollering about how short the line was. We saw them again a few hours later. Basically, it was frustrating. If my group of friends had done it, and the supervisor had been alerted, we would have gotten our just desserts. But no one (including any security guards?) saw fit to approach this group of intimidating African American men simply because they might've actually had to step outside their comfort zone (which is yelling at scrawny caucasian "punks" who are afraid of them). There was a double standard that day, because it was simply "easier" to let it slide. But I can guarantee that if a group like my own had tried the same stunt, we would've gotten much worse. If I'm understanding you correctly, then there isn't really anything the ride op could have done. In order to kick someone out of line for line jumping there need to be two groups complaining. 7. It actually has to be someone 16 or older to ride with children under the required height to ride alone.
  8. Unfortunately, it's only one of the towers now. There was a time when the employees could spray guests from both towers, but now one has to rely on people paying to spray at the last tower. Also, WWC, as others have stated, can get you soaked, and you can get off almost dry. Flume will almost definitely not get you soaked.
  9. For me, the health impact is the only issue in the smoking debate. I also doubt that banning smoking in the park would affect attendance negatively. KI is not a destination park, there isn't another big name park within 4ish hours of KI. The lessons learned from Smoke Free Ohio also would lend credence to my argument that attendance would not be negatively affected, because despite what some argued, attendance in bars and restaurants actually increased after Smoke Free Ohio was implemented. Now I understand there are not as many people who would refuse to go to an amusement park because of smoking, but I also doubt too many people would stop going because of a ban on smoking.
  10. I didn't. I was saying its ridiculous to go after someone who has a non offensive tattoo, but it would not be ridiculous to go after people that are sneaking in products that are banned and hurt others.
  11. because the park could very easily not allow smoking at all. Theoretically they can. Realistically, if they ban smoking people will sneak it and they'll have tons of nasy PR situations, arguments with security and disgruntled former patrons. Look at how much grief SFOT is getting for trying to deny a women with gun tattoos admission. gun tattoos don't negatively affect other people.
  12. Whatever, I don't really care if you don't believe me. It happens, and it doesn't really matter.
  13. because the park could very easily not allow smoking at all.
  14. yes, beggars can't be choosers.
  15. There are people that work in the rides department right now that were interviewed and hired before they turned 16. I can think of two off the top of my head. They worked under me at the log flume last year, and still work there. I just talked to one of them to make absolutely sure, and she confirmed it.
  16. They will interview and hire you before you turn 16, but you cannot work until you have actually turned 16.
  17. At WWC you can leave your stuff in the station. We have shelves. Unfortunately, at the other rides, I see your dilemma.
  18. It was not clear the rest of the night. It stormed off and on til about 11 last night.
  19. Cool, they answered my question. Really funny other people recite that thing from the train - we rode it on Saturday to utter silence, and all I could think was, "Geez, they need audio - ANY AUDIO! - on this thing!" Hopefully they can find the track, I'd love to hear it again. Can anyone think of any other old soundtracks they'd want to hear? RD Unfortunately, the reason there is no sound on train so far this year is because they are not running a full train yet and they do not place an operator on the front of the train. The controls for the sound on train are at the front.
  20. I know from experience, and the fact that they have me and the head supervisor at crypt scheduled to work at the log flume tomorrow morning...
  21. I can at the very least tell you that WWC will not be open in the morning tomorrow. I am a supervisor there and I have two and maybe three people coming in including me. It takes 6 people to run that ride. In addition, no one would ride it. Crypt will also probably not be open in the morning, just like last Friday. All of the rides in Planet Snoopy will not be open either. Most will, but not all. EDIT: Just noticed that he doesn't list BLSC, and yet it was open last Friday. It will open before Crypt and WWC, and most likely Train.
  22. That's what I mean. I know for a fact that that many rides won't be open tomorrow morning.
  23. I really hope that's not supposed to be a list of the rides that are going to be open in the morning...
  24. That is true, all of the rides require the operator to either press a button or click a clicker to count the riders, but it's not a tally as the question suggests.
  25. That is not entirely correct. Most of the rides have automated counts, we just write down what the computer says after each hour. There are several rides that are counted using manual counters, but most are automated.
