  1. Yeah they did a nice job theming, but at the same time the attractions they added were usually short, i.e. Face Off, Backlot. Or far to ambitious, i.e. Son of Beast. Not to mention using a crappy company to build it.
  2. I love Holiday World because of the value...I dont feel like im being ripped off like I do at Cedar Point. I have had a platinum pass the last three years, didnt renew this season...I honestly felt like I got more for my money at Six Flags Great America. I mean we got buy one get one tickets on their website, the refillable soda cups and the flash pass for 4 people... And it ended up being about 60 bucks a person. Getting off topic a little, so back to Holiday World. We have gone every year for the last 3...It is my 2nd favorite place after Disney...I mean for the money, you cant beat the place. Two day tickets were $56.95 at Lake Rudolph. Food was really reasonable. The waterpark is top notch IMO. The wooden coasters are so much better than what KI and CP has to offer. But the atmosphere is the best thing about the park. The layout may be a little confusing, but once you have been there a couple times you know where to go. IMO Holiday World is the best value, and one of the greatest parks around.
  3. Hello I am going upt to Darien Lake over Memorial Day weekend and was wondering if anyone has been there...If anyone can give me info on food and drink prices, how to do the park or anything like that. Thanks!
  4. Kings Island- I guess I would consider this my home park now, since its the closest. While it is Cedar Fair, and everything is overpriced, I still love this place. Landscaping is great, atmosphere is awesome, kids area is the best, and the coasters are good. Diamondback is a great ride, Beast is still pretty good, they have the best Arrow Looper IMO, and Adventure Express is the best lol!!! Cedar Point- Now I know this is the coaster capital of the world and all, but to me it is very overrated. Years ago, I made my first visit and was terrified of coasters and was blown away with this place. It made me hooked...in 2006 i was an employee on Mine Ride, and after working there the magic seemed to fade away. I loved pretty much everyone I worked with, but I felt I was screwed over by supervision and management. I just cant see why people go back summer after summer to work, i mean they dont even get a bonus anymore! Seriously whats the motivation? Magnum and Maverick are still my favorite rides, but I guess I am sick of the place. I went a couple times this year and was not having a good time. I think the food prices really get to me... Holiday World- Now this is the way a park should be ran! Everyone is great, smiles everywhere! rides are the best, waterpark is amazing, prices are right, its just the best place to go! I was sad I only got to make one trip this season. Lake Rudolph is awesome too! Walt Disney World- I have never been to a place where I felt like I left reality. Disney can do nothing wrong! Everything is TOP OF THE LINE. Live entertainment can NOT be beat. May not have tons of coasters, but they rock! Theming is really insane and real! Expidition Everest is the best themed ride around. I love the place, food is awesome, prices are fair. Hotels are great. I hated leaving. Carowinds- Very nice little park. Food was good for a Cedar Fair place. Rides were ok, just a little short. I guess you can thank Paramount for that.
  5. The airtime on Big Dipper was the most insane i have ever experienced, you would be standing on the entire trip back! Villain was good the first three years it was open, but i remember going in 2006 when I worked at CP (got in for free) it was worse than SOB, I couldnt ride anything for a good hour after riding it. They retracked it 2007 and it was pretty enjoyable. I still dont get why they did that if they were going to scrap it a year later.
  6. Crappy food is a Cedar Fair thing, when Six Flags owned the park, they had Subway, Taco Bell Express, and the local Mr. Hero...For anyone who has never had Mr. Hero you are missing out and need to experience it sometime in your life. Whenever I was at the park I would leave and go across the street, plenty of places to choose from.
  7. To TTD Maverick... Just dont insult people's comments (Beast1979's comment about GL) and we wouldnt be in this situation. Just think before you type and DO NOT say whatever is on your mind because it may offend someone on here.
  8. Dang kid, lighten up, it was an honest question and statement.
  9. Have you ever been there? Cuz it was my home park for years, and i never experienced any of that...
  10. Isnt it funny, people complained about the rude employees at six flags, now you go to Cedar Point or Kings Island and you seem to run into them everywhere you go. ALthough i have found a few nice people here and there. Six Flags had a great atmosphere most of the time, it was a giant bottleneck on busy days, but it was so huge people would spread out... If Geauga Lake was the third worst performing park, why close it when you had two other parks that were worse? Im telling you when they bought it they had no intention of keeping it open more than the 4 years they did, they wanted the rides. You guys can say what you want about Cedar Fair, but IMO they are turning into the Six Flags that everyone used to hate...
  11. Alot of things went into the demise of the park... The cities that the parks were in, hated all of the noise, traffic, and things that go into a major amusement park. Now that the park is closed they are complaining about the lack of tourism and loss of money... You can never make anyone happy. IMO Cedar Fair knew exactly what they were going to do when they bought it back in 2004... It was so obvious that attendance was starting to rise. I was there closing weekend and all of the major rides had lines...I know Oktoberfest was going on, but still... I dont think Cedar Fair wanted the park to stay open, I think they were more interested in the rides, so they could move them. I loved the Six Flags days...The rides were amazing, and you could see animals and go to a pretty nice waterpark. I mean, you could buy a season pass for 50 bucks!!! Villain was world class from 2000-2003, very good at night, equal to The Beast IMO. Batman/Dominator was the best ride in the park!!! The air you got in the back seat coming off the mid course was nuts!!! Double Loop was a classic. Big Dipper had the most airtime ever, you were standing the whole time on the return trip. I loved the animals it was just a great park to walk around, very nice. Most of the rides side at night was pretty dark, so the rides you got were out of this world. Geauga Lake was also the first North American Park to get a Huss Top Spin back in 1993. The waterpark they have today is nice, but small, nothing original, just your standard slides and such. I dont think we will ever see the amusement park open again. Unless i win the biggest Mega Millions jackpot, then I will put most of my money towards it haha!!!
  12. Its just going to be a bigger version of Camp Snoopy at Cedar Point. Its ashame though, no more Spongebob in the FX Action Theater. Many kids today do not care or even know about Snoopy and Charlie Brown. I do not blame Six Flags for what happened at GL, Cedar Fair knew exactly what they were doing when they bought the place in 2004. If they were going to keep it open they needed to give it one more year. I was there closing weekend in 2007 and they place was really busy, people were starting to come around again. Cedar Fair is no better than Six Flags right now. I wish I lived closer to a Six Flags because apparently guest satisfaction is at an all time high for those parks.
  13. I think the layout is a little more twisted than Diamondback, the trains look sharp too. Are seeing a trend here? Behemoth was pretty much straight out and back, Diamondback was a little bit more twisted, then Intimidator is even more twisted...
  14. Raven is amazing, Big Dipper at Geauga Lake was insane...Standing up the entire trip back to the station. I love Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom. Best Wood under 100: Raven Best Steel Under 100: Flight of Fear
  15. Splashin Safari blows Boomerang Bay out of the water... BB has a good mix of body and raft slides. It is very spread out and hilly, so be prepared for a lot of walking. Im not a big fan of BB though... Although the Awesome Aussie Twister is pretty sweet! Also make sure your swim pants dont have any metal on them... because you will not be able to ride any of the body slides.
