  1. Probably. Which is sad. Sadder still, one day, there will be no more roller coasters because we will all be gone. The ones we have now, even if left standing, will rot/rust and eventually collapse. There will be no Beast. No Millennium Force. No TTD. No Kingda Ka. No Incredible Hulk. No Voyage. No El Toro. No (Insert Coaster Name Here). Not even books about coasters will exist. That will be a sad day. Thankfully, that day is still years and years away...I hope.
  2. One beacon of hope for this coaster- in 2008, the ride suffered some minor damage. It was quickly repaired. Not something someone does to a coaster about to be demolished, that would be a waste of time and money.
  3. OK...here is the new section of Big Dipper. Now in correct area of website. What will happen to Big Dipper? Many are concerned. It will be hard to move. Most of GL's steel coasters got that treatment, including our very own X-Fl...I mean our own Firehawk, and KD's Dominator, to name a few. But Big Dipper is wooden. A classic wooden coaster in fact, which is why we are concerned. I can see Cedar Fair opening this ride as a standalone ride, charging $1 or so per ride, but am not sure if they even own it anymore. Or is Big Dipper going to meet all his old wooden (and some steel) buddies in coaster heaven? So many questions...
  4. Just watched The Racer video again, and I noticed that there is no Vortex in it, yet a giant slide is visible. So this has to be before Vortex, 1986 or earlier.

    Vortex

Well, I wasn't planning on throwing another one of these down for a few more days, but after viewing "What's Up On The Island Episode 4" I thought this would be a good time to throw down The Vortex poll. My Thoughts on Vortex? Good, Some Pain, Have Yet To Ride SOB for comparison...
  6. Yes. More seriously, the ride was becoming dated, the park wanted something newer and more thrilling, it had a very low capacity, the steps posed serious access issues that would sooner or later need to be addressed from several perspectives, and, perhaps most of all, the then owner of Camden Park offered them a very nice price for it... And, correct me if I am wrong, but Congo Falls stands there now. A pretty decent replacement.
  7. Wow. It is really raining hard here in Indy, and there is a tornado threat. Kings Island is CLOSED today. I hope the people make it out OK...and then hope the same for all the rides.
  8. I'd love a wooden terrain coaster with a 200ft. drop, multiple airtime hills and tunnels, 2 helixes (both in tunnels, ala Beast) made of high-quality pre-made wood, but with just a hint of roughness so you know it's a woodie myself...and if possible, one great loop somewhere in there. If it means using some steel to re-enforce the track, so be it, as long as it doesn't ruin the "woodie" feel. But the loop is optional. My favorite coaster in-park? The Beast, especially at night. I just love the tunnels at night.
  9. All 3 of the coasters at Holiday World are very good from what I have heard. Voyage is ranked #1 in the world by many wooden coaster fans, Raven is a Top 10, and Legend is just outside the Top 10. I would ride all three if I ever went to HW.

    Son of Beast

Just tell them to try and keep the fire under control. We don't want a SOB bonfire destroying both Racer and Beast too...though I want to ride SOB before it gets destroyed, simply to see If I love/hate it first... ride the dang thing then... You'll Love it but sit in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd seat.... I would have rode it but for me KI trips are somewhat rare, and last time I went, it was broken down. As for "burning SOB down"...I was just kidding, if there are people who enjoy the ride, and there seem to be a few who do, keep it for them. Shorter lines for The Beast, DB, etc... What's bizzare is Son of Beast gets the most mixed reaction of any coaster I have ever seen. It's on "Best Coasters Ever" lists, "Worst Coasters Ever" lists, and everything in between!

    Diamondback

Mine were phenomenal, no pain, and the only B&M Hyper I've been on. By the way, I believe you either meant Titan at SFOT (Which was manufactured by Giovanola) or Nitro at SFGAdv. Just an observation. Yeah, I did...I also didn't realize they weren't B&Ms, though they resemble them in appearance...which is how I was tricked.

    A Compliment

BTW, the chants and cheers they do before the ride really get you pumped up. "Are you ready to ride the longest wooden roller coaster in the world?" and "Are you ready to ride the best ride in the park?", and finally "Enjoy your ride...on The Beast!!!". Classic. Aside from them, only the Diamondback and Racer crews even attempted to pump up the crowd like this the day I went.

    A Compliment

Gotta love that Beast crew! Part of the reason the ride is so good.

    Diamondback

OK, who slammed DB with a poor rating!?!? THEN SLAMMED A "CALL 911" PAIN-O-METER!
  16. McSalsa

    Diamondback

Update: I AM KIC LOCAL NOW!!! ...and no one notices...
  17. McSalsa

    Diamondback

Oh, for anyone wanting to know "some other B&M Hypers" for Question 3...I haven't ridden any of these but... Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia Titan at Six Flags Great Adventure Note, Magnum XL 200 is NOT a B&M Hyper. It is a Hyper, but not a B&M.
  18. Yeah I know, but I have to have the "complete collection"...although my poll does allow you to rate DB's roughness... I may get 0 votes, however, because of this poll...
  19. McSalsa

    The Beast

I know, but I have to have a complete set for my polls...It's just me. And I do ask a interesting 3rd question...
  20. McSalsa

    Diamondback

Same as the last two (go rate Beast and SOB if you have yet to do so). This time it's Diamondback. My ratings: Phenomenal, No Pain, Only B&M Hyper.
  21. McSalsa

    The Beast

I have decided to create these polls of this kind in trios and am about to create one for Diamondback, as it would be the logical choice as it is brand new and already pretty famous. This poll and the SOB poll are not closed. Please rate and comment on these rides, let people know what you think of them!

    Son of Beast

UPDATE: After voting here and leaving comments, I have now created a poll for the original Beast. Go see it too if you so desire. THIS POLL IS NOT YET CLOSED THOUGH. I STILL WANT MORE SOB VOTES! Even if you don't like it. Comments still welcome too.
  23. McSalsa

    The Beast

Well seeing how fast the SOB poll started getting votes and comments I will go ahead and create one for his dad. This one I have ridden, and will give my ratings: FUN: Phenomenal. I loved The Beast. PAIN-O-METER: No Pain for me... HAUNTED?: Not Sure. I went for a night ride at 9:45 PM or so and saw nothing...it may have been too early though.
  24. McSalsa

    Son of Beast

Holy Cow, this is crazy...EVERYTHING ON THE LIST GOT VOTES WITHIN 10 MINUTES. This coaster is all over the place as far as fans/haters go...
  25. McSalsa

    Son of Beast

I figured it out myself, but this is kind of a "pick one" topic.
