  1. I was just there today. Hot Cat is gone, not a trace of it Ferris Wheel is gone as well. I would really love to see the park get new life, it's sad seeing so many things removed, and not much being replaced. It was a great day trip, but thinking of how it was when I was little, compared to now... However, the Haunted House is still a great ride. Gotta love the foot brake at the end

    Barefeet...

This is why I do not wear shoes that can fly off into parks. Especially for DB. I'm short enough that I KNOW my feet would slip away, even from the 'feet down' position on the restraint. Better to have your shoes than feel a summer's breeze on your toes
  3. I still can't access it...
  4. We were going to buy PP's this year, but it isn't up on the site yet. Kind of frustrating.
  5. Tragic I have some pictures of her from the summer. Wayyyy too young. Thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
  6. I actually think this is good. I may be in the minority with that thought, though. We try to go to Haunt every year (keep in mind we drive 5 hours one way to get there). We usually stay for one day only, since work and church are obligations on Friday and Sunday. We will arrive on Saturday when the park first opens, so we can ride. When the Haunt attractions open, we get in line. 2009, we were able to stay 2 nights and got to go through Urgent Scare, Trail of Terror and Club Blood. 2010, we were able to go through Slaughterhouse, Massacre Manor and Club Blood. We only got in a few rides at night due to the crowds in the attractions. I think we waited a good hour and a half (or longer) for Slaughterhouse. tl;dr..this would benefit someone like me, who can only visit Haunt for one day and would like to see more than a few attractions. Unfortunately, I will not get to attend this year School 6 days per week doesn't allow for it.
  7. This may be a strange question, but here goes: do you have to wear bathing suits in the water park, or can you go in clothing that doesn't have zippers, buttons, etc.? My particular religion doesn't allow bathing suits, so, my husband wears something like jogging pants, while my girls wea rsundresses, and I do the same, or wear a knee length cotton skirt with elastic waist.....we stayed at castaway bay a few years ago, and were asked to leave since our clothing was deemed unsafe. Very disappointing to spend the money to stay there, and not be able to use the facilities. we would love to try out the pools and lazy rivers (none of us like slides) but, we do not want to do the walk of shame...again. Anyone know the answer to this rather bizarre conundrum?
  8. I think the deal is fantastic. We are going to renew for a third year. This time, we are buying before the discount goes away. $70 for unlimited visits and parking...well, you just can't beat that.
  9. My favorite cup was the DB 09 cup....easy to carry and looked pretty good. This year, we bought the new blue cup. Meh. It's too long. It was a pain to carry around. It currently resides in my trunk, along with the popcorn tub. I guess they'll stay there until our next trip. I don't understand why they went with the super tall variety this year.
  10. "Read, set, go!" Does not equal "RUN!" Perhaps seeing that you are a grown adult, he may have been making a 'joke' of sorts. Sorta like "...and they're off!". Here's where I have a problem. You are in your thirties. So am I. I know better than to run in the park. I am an adult. Unless I'm in a race, you won't see me running anywhere. There are too many 'what if's' that could occur, that I won't bother to list. I will just be honest, when you first posted, I thought perhaps you were young. I was willing to look over it...but yeah. Running in any public place is generally frowned upon.
  11. I know some here hate flats, but I love them...and so do my kids. I would love to see the addition of a few more flats in the park. Maybe a tilt-a-whirl Oh, and a haunted house...without lasers. And finally, perhaps a ride like the Flooded Mine at Dollywood. Something where you float along indoors where it is nice and cool. I miss that ride.
  12. Well, I live in a very economically depressed area of the country. It's quite common to drive down the road and see people picking up cans and scrap metals. You feel sorry for them until you see a nice, new, shiny vehicle sitting on the side of the road...then they get in and drive off.
  13. Get a stroller. My kids are 8,9,10 and we still rent them. It's great to keep whining down. The park is mighty big to little feet.
  14. When we were at the park in May, my daughter and I were on Beast. Two teenagers in the seat in front of us had a blackberry Curve 2 out. Yes, it was out long enough for me to know what type of phone they had. Passing back and forth from each other to the patrons in the seat in front of them the entire ride, I feared what would happen. That was one ride I did not enjoy, as I was scared the phone would fly out and hit my daughter or myself. They filmed the entire ride, from lifthill 1to the very end of the ride. I wanted to say something to the ride ops, but the culprits were gone from the ride really quickly. Our last trip to the park a few weeks ago, I noticed the "Please put away all cell phones" message looping the entire lift hill. No music, just warnings. I mean, c'mon people..use some common sense.
  15. I love CP very dearly. I have fond memories of going there as a child, getting my yarn bracelet with the clown metal clip, plus my handstamp and riding all day. It was something I looked forward to each summer....Thunderbolt Express was my first ever looping ride. I have a jewelry box at mom and dad's full of those bracelets. We took our kids there several years ago, and I got the same 'carnival' feel that you do not even have to describe. The rides were scary. Not because of height or speed, but scary because you wonder if you'll live through the ride cycle The park workers in the kid area were not really 'kid friendly' and I just didn't feel, I dunno...welcome. That was my first visit to the park since a child and it really crushed some of the great memories I was trying to convey to my children. This is one of many reasons why Kings Island is our home park, even though it is 5 hours away, and CP is just an hour and a half away. It's just not as magical as it once was. Which is sad. *edit* I had to share this....my mother in law and I decided to ride the Haunted House together during that trip. Well, she's a large woman, and I'm tiny. Needless to say, that was the scariest trip through the haunted house I've ever taken. Around the corners, our car literally thumped by raising up and slamming down due to the weight difference.
  16. 2 rides in a week ... It's all everyone is talking about here. Bad press is bad press, unfortunately.

    Fireworks

We found an excellent area to watch fireworks. The show went on forever last Saturday night. I really enjoyed hearing music and seeing the fireworks with a smiley face when the song talked about smiling. We've always been away from the music, so I had no idea it was set to music. Anyways, head out to Action Zone. Sit on the bench between Delirium and Stunt Grill. Thank me later
  18. Quick question....are the fast pass bracelets plastic and red? With paw prints on them? The reason I ask...when we were at the park last week, we were in line for Surf Dog. Two rows worth of people (12 people) were in the exit with the wristbands on and were placed ahead of us. We were ready to get on, but had to wait for them to ride. Same thing happened over at Woodstock Express. They filled an entire train. It was a crowded day, but that made it almost unbearable to have an entire group just come on up the exit and get on. I didn't know any of the Planet Snoopy rides were on the ride schedule. It was so crowded that day, we waited past keyhole photo just to get out of the park.
  19. I thought this was amusing while in line for Beast the other day: Kid: Dad, why are they running an empty train? Dad: Well, that's in memorial of all those who have passed on while riding Beast. They do it every morning out of respect Kid:
  20. This would be great for a single rider, but for a family of 5, that's an additional $250 for 7 hours of no waiting. Too bad this can't be incorporated into a season pass somehow...like say x amount available for purchase by passholders.
  21. (in my best eastern ky twang) Ain't a thang normal 'bout us
  22. Sounds sorta like parent swap. My only regret is not having one more child for even riders
  23. We are a strange lot of people, but that's ok. Hehehe.... I told my husband what happened, his response was the same as mine... "Man, wish I had been on when that happened." Why is being evacuated from a ride so enticing?
