  1. Although I personally do like what is being tossed around about the park, I'm kinda feeling weird about some things that have been said about the "NEW, BIGGER, BADDER Kentucky Kingdom." B&M coaster: One little issue I see with this: where?! Where would they build an actually good B&M in the park? If the space that was Chang's former footprint along with the go carts is going to be used to double the water park size, what other spot is there really? The only area that I can kind of see being used is the current home to the falling apart Twisted Twins, the Nascar thing (whatever it was; too little to remember what it actually was when I went there), and the Mile High Falls area. Something more is going to have to be cleared out........anyone foresee T2 being sold or scrapped? Also with this: the airport height cap. While it may be a B&M by brand right and rider experience, how can a good one be built if the height limit is somewhere around 120 ft? Free Parking: This is a great idea! But, I have a feeling that Hart and the Fair Board are going to have it out about this one. The Fair Board was complaining earlier this year because of the lost funds from parking used by SFKK patrons not there this year. Plus, where would this parking lot be built? Anyone know the location of the portion of land that Six Flags originally brought for the supposed expansion of the park? That would be the only portion of land that I could think of that would be somewhat big enough for the building of the free parking lot. I know for a fact that there is some open land between the Fairgrounds parking lot and Crittenden Drive as it runs behind the park and heading towards the I-65 on ramp. Anyone know the owner of that land? Opening 2012: Personally, as a college student who would like to try to work at an theme/amusement park and for the sake of the Louisville economy, I hope that it does open in 2012. With that, Ed & company may have some luck with the state. The state has already granted tax breaks for Kentucky Speedway and as well as the "Noah's Arc Park" along with tax payers dollars going to it (if I am wrong, someone please correct me on the tax dollars funding issue). However, with Ed asking for close to $50 million or more I'm not fore sure he will get that. Again, I am rooting for the comeback of this once pretty good park. But lets be realistic: Six Flags abused/trashed the place and did not properly maintain the rides (Superman: Tower of Terror), the economy is not that which was seen in the 1990's, and the state is in debit as is most of the country. Yet, if the state is handing out tax breaks for next year like candy as they are, Ed & company may get one of those if there lucky. I wonder if any KK lobbiest have hit up Frankfort yet...... Again, I am rooting all the way for the opening of KK ASAP! However, whether it is or ever does it will have some initial challenges. But, I know that those can be overcame if we all go visit a few times.......
  2. Just had a thought......anyone find it funny that it's Kings Island getting talked about on the show every now and then instead of Cedar Point? I wonder how this makes Mr. Kinzel feel........
  3. I'm not fore sure. Me thinks that Glee could me making an episode this upcoming season at KI.....especially since KI even twitted about this. It is kinda suspicious if you ask me.
  4. Go to Great Adventure's site. They already have information up about it. If anyone is wondering, the answer is yes: there are some CHANGes coming to SFGA. I hope that the "Green Lantern" has been restored to CHANGe the way it looks.
  5. http://www.jacksonnjonline.com/2010/08/05/exclusive-first-look-at-six-flags-great-adventures-new-rollercoaster/ Has anyone seen this? I looked at the layout of it and it appears that Chang might get revived.
  6. I think this was a few years ago back when we had recaR. One of the ride ops said as everyone was leaving, "Thank you for coming and enjoy the rest of your funtastic day here at Disney World."
  7. I'm positive that this has already been stated somewhere in this form (if so, I'm sorry for repeating), but Delirium is down because of a part coming in from Germany. What would be really weird is if it was the same part that broke on it back in 2005.
  8. I agree. Looks like B&M is trying to do just about the same exact thing from that picture. What would be so stinkin' funny is if it turns out to be a hit design and then all the parks start to buy it instead of the Arrow/S&S 4th-D. The main reason would just be due to the name brand and you have to add B&M's amazing reliability.
  9. Okay.....lets hope that CP gets the logs going on this one. I think they have met there FAIL quota for the season with this one ride alone. haha
  10. The sign does look good. I have to give it to Cedar Fair....they are really trying to win the Best Kids Area award with this one. lol
  11. The weirdest thing I've seen at King's Island.......... 1. As I was walking toward the general direction of FoF, I felt like I was being watched from behind. I was passing the Monster and I glanced back, not seeing anyone. So, I kept going. I felt the weird sensation again and looked back to find an 13 yr. old boy looking at me in a very weird, checking me out, freaky way.....ewwww!!!!! 2. This is weird and funny.....the event took place back in 2005 or 2006. I was in line for the forward racer (at that time) for the front seat. As I was waiting I noticed this couple that had gotten in and locked there harnesses. They broke into an argument and the second I turn my head, a big loud SLAP is heard through the station. The girl had slapped the guy so hard that there was an red mark almost instantly. Everyone started laughing at the guy and the ride op told the girl, "Do it again. We'll back you up!" haha
  12. I can't believe that someone actually asked about the rumor of Vortex sinking into the ground. lol
  13. I sadly have to admit that I was 14 when I rode my first big coaster (thanks mom for being overprotective of her son and creating fears in him =D). Ironically enough, my first big coaster was Son of Beast back in 2005 when it had the loop still in it. I have been in love with coasters ever since then. If it wasn't for people dragging me onto the coaster, I probably would have never gotten on one.
  14. While we may be counting our chickens before they hatched, I have to say (as a college student) that it is exciting to see that the park will be re-opening. Think about it 1,000 seasonal jobs lost as well as 55-60 full time. Seeing this first hand by being a college student in Louisville, the closing of the park has had a huge impact on Louisville's economy especially on that end of town. I am looking forward to the reopening of Kentucky Kingdom. Keep in mind though that this is pretty much going to be a park in its baby stages all over again. So, it is going to have to attract a substantial amount of visitors in order to finance things for the future to bring in more ride (and hopefully coaster) offerings.
  15. I do know for a fact that Ed has been keeping a huge eye on the park ever since SF took it over and he has said that he was not pleased with it. If Mr. Ed does want to take over the park again, it would not surprise me first off and second off it doesn't surprise me that the Fair Board is moving so swiftly about the park. Although I highly doubt this possibility, it would not surprise me if Cedar Fair took a glance at the park. Again, I highly doubt it cause they have too many problems of their own. *coughs* ever increasing debt+interest*coughs*
  16. Hmm....well, in all honesty if we get anything in 2011 period, it will probably something minor. I highly doubt that the park will get anything big for quite sometime especially due to the future of Cedar Fair being kinda foggy at this point.
  17. And of course....still no decision on Son of Beast.......Who didn't see that coming? lol
  18. Please please please please with every fiber of my being PLEASE let one of these go through! I hope that this really goes through. A lot of the people rely on this park for a job.
  19. I can't recall exactly when my first ride on The Beast was......I wanna say 2005. Anyway, I just thought that I would let you all know that MSN had a poll on America's best and extreme coasters on their main page today and The Beast was number one (as usual ).
