  1. Someone posted this on facebook and I recognized the location pretty quick. I looked around and didn't see it posted yet, so here it is: Sorry if its already been posted -Dbfan
  2. This exhibit won't come cheap, and I was really hoping for something great next year, but with WindSeeker and Dino Alive, I don't see another large investment on the park soon. Am I the only one who wasnt interested in Animatronics as a kid? Never really was a fan, but I know many are today.
  3. Look on the bright side, The Beast had a great run, and the record for the longest and highest wooden rollercoasters in the world were both held by our park. The Beasts record held far longer than I imagined, with most other coaster records demolished in the 2000's, The Beast's stood. We still will have the 2nd longest, and (Depending on the status of SOB and the height of this new ride) the tallest wooden coaster.
  4. 680 foot Ferris Wheel??? Wow. This park has high intentions. And The Beast won't lose its record until 2013.

  6. I'll be the first to say it...I don't like it. At first when I heard of the idea, I thought it could work, but after looking at the concept art and reading more about it I can't seem to find a point to the exhibit. For one, if you decide to "ride" it, you are stuck inside for 15-20 minutes. I don't know about you but thats a long time to look at orangutans. Another thing is that the zoo, if continuing the tradition of its other rides, will charge extra for this. How many people would really spend money to go up and see orangutans from a skyride when you can view them from down below? And of course some exhibit is probably being taken away for this ride.
  7. As long as it changes colors im happy.
  8. I always remembered going to shows in there but I could never remember where it was, thanks!
  9. Fixing a broken ride in the offseason and having it ready for opening day... What a concept!
  10. I knew something was missing from FOF when I went a week ago. Thanks for pointing out the tower.
  11. I just saw some pictures in the other thread of its original paintjob, and it looks fantastic. Really as long as they paint the track and different color than the supports im happy.
  12. To hope that SOB, one of my favorite rides, continues to operate, and if it gets altered, that it doesn't get altered too much.
  13. First ride on DB First Halloween Haunt Visiting with a friend who moved away 2 years ago Having a great time at the park every time I went. Can't wait until 2011!
  14. I love Test Track, and this ride looks just as good, but I don't really like the name. It just seems too long.
  15. Hello Everyone. Last Friday I visited my first haunt, and I had a great time. Im copying Mcsalsa's way of TR's, and I will be doing this in sections by rides/haunts. These are all my opinions, so don't hate. Haunt #1 Urgent Scare So before this trip, the only really haunted maze I had gone to was the yearly Childrens Museum one in Indianapolis, so I wasn't sure if I would enjoy these mazes. I decided to start the night with Urgent Scare to see how it went, and plan the rest of my night from that experience. We got to the park at around 6:30, and after 30 minutes of waiting we entered. We went to Urgent Scare right away and were the first guests to go through it for the night. I really liked the theming of this haunt. It had a great setup, and the actors made sure you knew the storyline. I really liked the Elevator effect aswell. All the rooms were well themed and it was a good scare, but also a really good time. Although the first one, this ended up being my favorite maze for the night. Rating: 9/10 Ride #1/2 Vortex and Beast After a great experience at Urgent Scare, we walked over for a quick walk on for Vortex. We grabbed a bite to eat, and to my surprise it was dark already, so we headed over and walked on Beast for an early night ride. I havn't been on a Beast night ride in almost 3 years so I had a good time. Ride #3/4 Drop Tower and Flight Deck After the initial rush, we took our time walking to Drop Tower. In the line for Drop Tower I had my first glimpse of a different KI experience than I was used to, two older teens started yelling, cussing, and threatening to fight in the line because someone got their foot stepped on, thankfully, the line moved and they each went their seperate ways. Drop Tower at night was very interesting and its cool to see all the lights of the park and the surrounding areas from the top. And it was freeezing at the top by the way. Shorts was a bad idea. Then we headed to Flight Deck, which I have always liked. It was a quick walk on and a good ride. Haunt #2 Club Blood After Flight Deck I was split between Club Blood and Wolf Pack. I decided Club Blood because the line seemed a little longer and I figured that it meant it was a better haunt. After a thirty minute wait, we entered Club Blood. This Haunt was...interesting. The motorcycle near the front was really cool, but from then on it wasn't that great. I think it really was bad for me becuse my group got paired with a group of middle school guys who obviously only went in to see the girls, and were commenting and rating them instead of focusing on the haunt. Even when we wern't in those rooms they were talking about them. The hanging bodies were a little disturbing, but some of the scares were good. Rating: 5/10 Ride #5 Diamondback After Club Blood we went to Diamondback in search of one more thrill before resting and eating. Even though the line was right outside of the test seat, it still took only 30 minutes to get on. They do a great job putting people through as always. I have not ridden Diamondback at night, and I really enjoyed it. It was really cold, but the darkness only added to the ride. Show #1 Half Pint Brawlers We got to festhaus to meet up with people and eat just in time for the Half Pint Brawlers to start. It got crowded, but we had seats and food so it was good. They really do put on a great show. it's not very bloody, its funny at times, and the atmosphere was good. I was really surprised I enjoyed this, but I did. A kid near me threw an ice cube that almost reached the stage, and in five seconds security was talking with him. Kings Island did a great job potraying this show. Festhaus also looks great with all the additions. Now they just need the clock to start again. Rating: 7/10 Haunt #3 Cemetary Drive After 20 minutes of the "Brawlers" I decided to continue going through more mazes. The first one we came to was cemetary Drive. A walk-on. I think this maze has potential, but I saw barely any Scarers, and they sent us through in a group of 20. Lots of the fog machines were off, and you could see scares from 10 feet away. I think this maze has potential, it just isn't fulfilling it. The gravestones were great, but nobody was behind them. Rating: 3/10 Haunt #4 Cut Throat Cove I got the honor of leading my group through this maze. It was very well themed, and I liked its location. The spots scarers could come from kept you guessing, and after the scared you they would sometimes make a joke. This maze gets the honor of the best attitude. It was a bit too short, but was still great. Rating: 8/10 Haunt #5 Massacre Manor After Cut Throat Cove, we headed to Massacre Manor. The line for this was surprisingly short compared to most others. Probably becuase it is hidden behind a ride with nothing but a small sign on the midway with an arrow. This haunt was probably the best themed out of all of them, and had some great props. The pictures on the walls of the girl were very helpful as you progressed. My only complaint was that we got no build up to any storyline, so nobody knew really what was going on until halfways through or so. the Strobe Light hallway was great, and they had an actor who seemed to move through the strobe lights and you kept losing focus on him. Probably the scariest part of the maze was "Spoiler" when you walked out, you thought you were done, but there was one more scarer behind a curtain. Rating: 8.5/10 Haunt #6 Death Row We then headed to see what the waits were like for Firehawk and Flight of Fear. It looked like an hour for both, so we skipped them and decided to try out Death Row. Is Death Row even considered a Haunt Maze? Honestly I didn't get it. we walked in, and all I saw were strobe lights and a siren blaring. For the first half, I didnt see any scarers at all. Nobody was making noises, and if they were the siren covered it up. On the second half, I think I counted 3 scarers. Once again, I couldn't see at all because of the strobe lights and all my eyes could focus on was the sweatshirt in front of me. I did see an electric chair, but the person sitting in it (If it was a person) didnt move and it didnt light up or make any noise. This Maze was just a loud annoying walk. I could not see a thing outside of a 3 foot range or something becuase of the lights. If they just turned down the siren and maybe only had the strobe lights in certain areas, it could be improved. Rating: 1/10. Ride #7 Diamondback After Death Row and a short ride on Backlot Stunt Tour, we headed for a final ride on DB before Carnevil and leaving. When we got their we noticed the singles line was open, so my friend and I headed up the singles line and to our surprise there was one person in front of us. The regular line was almost to the entrance. I found out later that they were letting singles in, then closing the singles line, then opening it back up. So we got lucky. After the man in front of us went, the ride op at the top sent us to row 2, both of us. So we not only got to ride with about a 3 minutes wait, but still somehow got to sit row 2 next to each other. Now at this time is was 52 degrees (The ride op told us), and I was wearing shorts. It was also 12:20 at night. I had no seats in front of me to break the wind, so my legs got really cold during the ride. It was a very cold ride, but a good one to end my last DB ride of the season. Haunt #7 CarnEvil After a short 20 minute wait for CarnEvil, and some free glasses from some people who just exited, we were ready to go. Carnevil's scares were not that good, and not that many, but the effects were really cool. The walls were all 3D, and the scarers all had clothes that fit their room so they were hidden. The bubbles were a very cool effect, and after trying to catch many, I noticed the glow was all over my hands. The spinning tunnel was cool, and this maze was more of a display of effects than of scares. Rating: 6/10 KI does a really good job of putting this event together. I was really impressed by everything I saw. The only complaints I have is that the fog is too much in some places (IS) and there isnt enough in some places (X-Base). The roaming scarers seemed to disapeer after the start of the night, and I saw two near Potato Works and none for the rest of the night. If they just had some more of those it would keep people more on their toes. Besides that, I have no complaints about the job KI did. Ive never been to a huant before, so I can't really relate this to other experiences, but I had a great time. -DBfan
  16. I went on Friday and saw the wrestlers. They put on a good show. It was barely bloody at all, funny at sometimes, and very well acted. A kid near us threw an ice cube that almost reached the stage, and within five seconds there was security talking to him. KI did a really good job, and Festhaus looks great.
  17. No, its completely optional. They didn't even add much to the maze. They charge for 3d glasses on boo blasters, are you going to stop going on days that is open too?
  18. What most people were doing Friday Night is once they exited, handed them to people near the front. It worked really well and the person working the front didn't seem to care. I would say half the people were getting glasses then passing them on when they were done. PS: They don't add that much to the maze, they are better than nothing but I wouldn't say its a must have.
  19. I always get pirctures taken of me at the front gate and a piece of paper shoved into my hand. Ive never found a way to evade the photographers.
  20. Looks like an amazing ride. I have to agree with the name though. Even Cedar Fair has more interesting names.
  21. So I got it all planned out and after 12 or so years of being a KI fanatic, I am going to my first haunt. I have two questions before I go: 1: Im not a big haunt guy, but I want to get at least two in. Ive been reading reviews, but im still split over the two I am going to do (I may do more if time persists) Right now im looking at Urgent Scare, but im not sure of the other, what, in your opinion, are the best two mazes KI does? 2: I will be there on a Friday night, do you suggest going to the mazes first as soon as they open or waiting until later? Thanks, Dbfan
  22. I havnt seen any photots from that, but its looking great. If it turns out successful, I think SOB would be a great fit for the treatment.
  23. And the ride wait times? Ive never been to Haunt, and have no interest in any of the mazes.
  24. Sorry to barge in on your topic and ask this, but I dont see a point asking a similar question on a new topic. Is it any less crowded Friday Nights? I have a chance to go on a friday, and im more of a rides type guy, so will the rides be packed or just the haunts?
