  1. very true andrew.... thats why i described it like that....
  2. someone had said moving congo falls to river town... man if only there was a log flume ride that took you up into the tree tops and it went back sort of where The Beast is...... sigh...... but then i guess diamond back would a. not be built where it is, b. have a different lay out.... but hey we go cript in river town.... sorry back to the topic... couldnt they just plant a tree or two in Action Zone, it does get very warm during the day and does not look real inviting to go in there.... (theme?)
  3. ^^^^ the first hill is very cool. No matter what happens to this ride if it is burnt to the ground or left standing, the current state it is in is sad compared to the first few years of the ride. Knowing you were on a woodie and about to hit the loop was an awesome fear. Mainly that first time not knowing what was going on and looking over your head to see the tail end of the train reaching the loop(whats up front seat riders). Yes I agree Sonny is very rough, and I think the park should do something, if not more so for their own PR than ride safety, Yes SOB is safer than a trampoline..... Side bar for a moment, if everyone complains the ride is too rough why do we keep riding it? I am in the mind set now, that the ride is way to rough and ruins me for a few minutes afterwards, usually a good time to grab food out in the car is following a ride on SOB.... but seriously why do we ride it? Because it is fun, yes it hurts like the dickens, and may actually be causing long term damage that most of us wont see till we are much older, but to be truthful I no longer will offer up my personal opinion of "Its way to rough" because I am stupid enough to keep riding it. I am just like Dakota I keep giving it a second chance. So if you think its too rough dont ride it anymore.... As stated before what do we expect from a wooden coaster going 75 mph and 200 foot drop......... Just my random ramblings for the day
  4. Simple. They have one central database for all the attractions, so you just have to slap the ID of that particular attraction onto the end of the URL and you can get the details for it regardless of what site you're on. If you change the URL to kingsdominion.com, you'll get it there as well. Thats a Nice fancy link there that had a few people myself going for a moment.
  5. thats sad.... like the body sheet in a morgue..... well its not horrible yet right?
  6. not to split hairs.... but no one knows for sure if theres nothing wrong with the coaster.....if there was nothing wrong with it we would have seen it being tested sometime in the past week. But who knows tomorrow morning it could start testing and nothing is wrong.... and not everyone has said tear it down, alot of us have said fix the issues with it or redesign it....
  7. Hey Gang, I feel we are all getting way ahead of ourselves here since we have no idea whats going on. But with that being said I feel this season or next may be one of the last times we get to ride SOB..... but if it is torn down something new will rise in its place.....
  8. paperg some people are not ringing the the death knoll for this ride just yet we are just discussing the problems and coming up with ideas on how to fix it... call is monday morning amusement park owner
  9. it collapsed? shouldnt this have been a sign... like hey guys dont do this?
  10. Well it was your point that made me think that the ride is breaking down ... SOB is sort of Robin Williams in the movie Jack where he ages very quickly....
  11. Jon The Beast also does not have to deal with a 200+ drop with a 75 mph+ train whipping on its tracks..... and there is nothing wrong with saying that the forces wear this coaster down more often than other woodies
  12. I brought this up somewhere but I feel that SOB is becoming our generations (the people that are in their 20s) version of The Bat. A great ride but a few design issues doomed it..... I understand people dont get hurt very often and you are right the ride should be denoted somehow to the general public that this is not a normal roller coaster, for the average park goer. But does KI know something we dont since the ride has still not opened yet?
  13. well im saying lets say you and I agree to box a few rounds..... and your appendix is swollen from you being sick (and you do not know it) if I punched your stomach and it burst is it my fault or yours? and I am pretty sure you can punch someone and have their appendix burst, heck an apendix can burst and you do not know it did till you get incredibly sick..... and I agree the ride is an extreme thrill ride but I do not agree that just by walking into the park you are agreeing to sign your life away. I would bet a pay check that if you stood infront of the line of SOB and said would you mind signing this in case you die, you would have more people go.... you know I will just ride Top Gun instead..... Yeah some people will still ride it because its a thrill but normal people dont ride rides if they know there is a good chance of injury or death....
  14. I lost my hat and sunglasses in The Beast healix...... my mom who was riding about 3 rows behind me caught my hat (somehow i think it flew in her row and she just naturally snagged it) the sun glasses though were never heard from again...... My mom didnt know who owned the hat till after the ride
  15. I understand your post but with whitewater rafting companies you sign a release form saying you are putting your life in danger.... I think this falls under the category that people dont want to put their life in danger, and you all are forgetting a guy died because of blunt force trauma to his torso, cause by the ride. He, I am almost sure, did not have pre-existing injuries, and the latest chick who was in ICU because of the ride(or so she claims because of the ride) did not have pre-existing injuries. The one dude who broke his neck did not know he had an issue till the ride broke his neck. How would you like it if lets say I punched you in the stomach and your appendix exploded because it was swollen but you didnt know it? Would you sue me or would you say well I had a condition so its my fault
  16. no i agree having one issue does not deserve to have the ride destroyed, but I think having the thing the way it is now is just asking for trouble, in the future. I want to see this ride last a long time and be enjoyed, but as someone has said before since the removal of the loop the ride has lost its luster to most "normal" people, and the roughness of the ride will not keep people coming back. I meant the comment about having a train of people flying off the track as a dark joke, meaning we all know it cant happen but if it did oh god..... but for some reason the ride has yet to be reopened. If I am right after the girl fell out of flight commander didnt the ride get closed down shortly there after.........
  17. Having a train of people going to the hospital due to a problem in the design also makes the ride useless
  18. I think people want trims because it seems the only sensible way to keep the ride open with out killing a train full of people, I kid.... mostly. If trims returns SOB to a fun, mostly safe ride then great. But I agree this ride is becoming a hassle for the park, a PR nightmare......
  19. You know I was disapointed when Days of Thunder left, but then 007 was just as cool. Spongebob is okay but I am not a fan of the 3d...... Return to Phantoms Theatre would be huge....
  20. I remember this from a few years back my buddy and I were about 16 or 17 (so almost 6 years ago) we ran back to the kiddie area to ride every coaster in the park including Beastie, (no line so it wasnt like we were taking a ride from a child). I sat in the front row my buddy behind me and as we were getting the seats checked I made the comment to my buddy that this ride was probably the farthest thing from dangerous and we probably wouldnt need to even be restrained. Well as we are going up the hill, the ride op was over the PA talking about no standing etc, then goes The Beastie is the fastest most dangerous coaster in the park reaching speeds of up to one million miles an hour.... I do not know why I found it funny then but I find it hilarious now...
  21. Look I understand both sides of the picture, but I sadly feel like I may start crossing the picket line so to speak. I am a SOB fan and have been since it was built. I felt this ride was my generations F Yeah Ride. I was born in 85, so most rides were either built or torn down before I was born. I mean King Cobra was cool but only because it was a standing ride, and top gun was built but really it seemed like a passive ride to me, but SOB was well one big sob. But now I feel that this ride may be more of a hassle than it was meant to be. Questionable building techniques led to a ride failure which led to a ride redesign, and eventual changing to lighter cars to put less stress on the ride, but that still has not fixed the over aggresiveness of the ride. If SOB does stay open the park should make sure they do not open themselves up to any liability and put up many signs talking about the injury possibilities due to such a large coaster, or the park should consider this another Bat. I hate to put it like that but if it stays open people will still ride it, people will still get hurt, people may or may not still die on the ride. The ride was never classified as unsafe, except for the time it broke if I am correct. But if people will still get hurt the park needs to make sure people know they are literally putting themselves in harms way. This way the park can say, look we are doing all we can to make the ride safer but if something does happen they cant be sued. But if the ride is torn down it will be a sad day.
