  1. First time posting in a while, just bought season tickets today and got me in the mood to get back on here I think the food options are pretty cool. Will it inspire me to eat in the park? Probably not since I'm there all the time, but for people who spend only a few days or even just one day a year there and want to get the full experience, it will help out the entire experience. I'll agree Oktoberfest needs re-named/re-themed, but I doubt anyone really cars about that. Definitely not on top of the priority list, but better food was.
  2. Blah - you're all being to negative here I think. I think it's good to see another area of the park getting redone and refurbished. Plus, this will be extremely marketable since one of the main bits of competition is Holiday World, which exploits their waterpark (and its size) in just about every advertisement. I think this will be good for the park. After this, Action Zone is all that waits for a good refurbishment. Then Cedar Fair will have completely changed the park for the better in my eyes.
  3. 2 things: I would take down SOB, whether it gets replaced by something or not. I would paint The Racer.
  4. ^ I always like the ones where people say that The Beast used to have a loop in it.
  5. That's nothing, I was at KFC this one time and this guy kept complaining that they don't have Coke. The lady tried explaining that they carried Pepsi products, not Coke products. He says "I know y'all have Pepsi, but y'all should get Coke, too. It's all the same."
  6. I actually see where the OP is coming from, I've had a few rides near the back and on the "edge seats" that I would consider bumpy. My last ride in the back seat reminded me of a ride on Magnum XL200. That being said, I think it could very well be the fact that certain wheels need replaced. I've never had a bumpy ride near the middle or especially the front of the train, and to me the front seat is as smooth as Millennium Force. Sitting on the "edge seats" add a degree of bumps, so if a smooth ride is more important than getting a better view, sit on the inside seats.
  7. Firehawk will usually be crowded with a long line all day. In the middle of July I wouldn't be surprised to see an hour long line all day. Diamondback is usually pretty forgiving with wait times, the longest I've ever waited was 45 minutes, and that was when the park was PACKED. I'd expect a 15 minute wait on a weekday, especially later in the day. With The Beast, I'd expect a 20-30 minute line on a weekday. The two rides I always recommend people ride are The Beast and Diamondback. Flight of Fear, Delirium, Drop Tower, and Invertigo are others, but The Beast and Diamondback are the two highlights of the park for me. On the Diamondback they assign where you sit. If you ask for a specific seat, they MIGHT let you ride in that seat. You have people who prefer riding the Diamondback up front, or in the back. I like the front better, because I find that you get more floating airtime up front, I like the way you hang over the first drop, and I love the view that you get in the front seat (which is worth the extra 10 minute wait). In the back, the airtime is more intense, but there always seems to be less of it to me. The first drop is better in the back, but the whole ride is better and smoother in the front. On The Beast, ride in a seat that sits off the wheels. Each car on the train has 3 rows. Pick the middle row of the train for a smoother ride. My personal favorite seat is the second from the back.
  8. The Voyage to me is the roughest wooden coaster alongside Mean Streak. Honestly, the Voyage is fun, but it beats the crap out of you and I want nothing more than to get off the ride as soon as possible after the MCBR. The Beast isn't even in the same area as the Voyage in my opinion. And as my response to the people that say that The Beast is worse than what it used to be: Remember, you have gotten older, and you have been spoiled by rides like Millennium Force, Diamondback, and El Toro that are all faster than The Beast and are also glass smooth. Honestly, The Beast is my favorite coaster, I'll admit the problems that the ride has, but roughness isn't one of those problems.
  9. As far as I'm concerned, the entire ride is glass smooth except for the turn into the brake shed. This is a rough area, but if it was retracked and fixed then the entire ride would be flawless in my opinion.
  10. Because Cedar Fair never shows favoritism for Cedar Point (and Knott's), right? Cedar Point hasn't gotten a new coaster since 2007. Kings Island has gotten 2 since. Kings Dominion, Canada's Wonderland, World's of Fun, Valleyfair, Carowinds... all gotten new roller coasters since 2007. What has Cedar Point gotten? Cedar Point has a water ride and a new flat. Where's the favoritism here? Kings Island's WindSeeker was scheduled to open before Cedar Point's. You can't honestly believe that Cedar Fair held back the opening of King's Island's WindSeeker just so Cedar Point's could open first... EDIT: If anything, Cedar Fair has spent more time and money on Kings Island than any other park in the chain. A complete rehab of not one, not two, but three sections of the park (and counting), a new B&M hyper, a Dinosaur park with promises of additions in the coming years, and now a new announcement in August... Cedar Point has a new water ride. Again, where's the favoritism?
  11. Well, there are only lapbars on WindSeeker, so if over head shoulder restraints give you problems, then this should be a sigh of relief. Both me and my dad noticed that the size of the seats are larger than most rides, both before we sat in them and while were were on the ride. I only saw one person require help of a ride assistant to get in, and even that was just a simple push from them to get the "good to go" from the operator. I say if you do fine on Diamondback, you'll do fine here. EDIT: If anything gives you problems, it will be the length of the belt, which is found right in front of where your lapbar is pulled down. I myself (though I'm pretty skinny, 170 at 6/1) could slide forward and backward in my seat, and noticed a considerable amount of room between my thighs and the lapbar. One of the more "fluffy friendly" rides in the park. I don't promise anything though, everyone is built differently.
  12. I don't think the industry will see another strata-coaster anytime soon. Maintenance problems with Kingda Ka (and Top Thrill Dragster for that matter) pretty much killed the coaster wars, because it became obvious we were getting ahead of ourselves. Then there's the good ole' economy. A new coaster is possible, but I just don't see Cedar Fair putting in another coaster anywhere before adding one to Knott's or Cedar Point, even if it means re-distributing rides from California's Great America like they did Geauga Lake. I'm sticking by my gut that it will either have something to do with Action Zone or something to do with Boomerang Bay. Both are starting to get run-down, and could use some livening up.
  13. I agree, they are way to aggressive. I'm tired of walking in and immediately being asked if I want my picture taken. For a first impression upon entering a park, it's got to put some people in a bad mood. Then they go on to Coney Mall, and then people with microphones yell and scream at individual people to try to throw a ball in an almost impossible hole for 3 dollars. Then they walk by Vortex, and get screamed at by two guys to score some three pointers. I realize that this is an amusement park, but it almost feels like a chore to ignore employees and that's not right. This is something that I find to be annoying, but then I blow it off after it happens. But when you mention it, you are right. It's very annoying. I can understand asking a group of 5 or more people, but not a pair of people and especially not single people... And when I'm running for the gold pass entry while carrying my card in hand and they stand in my way, that's the absolute worst. I'm there AT LEAST 2-3 times a year, they know this, and they still think it's important to ask. Ask larger groups who are standing around the entry plaza looking at maps, and even offer the guests some advice. Don't jump in front of two people in a mad sprint, just to scream in a high pitched voice "Stop, stop, stop. Never forget your memory at Kings Island. Smile!!!"
  14. I rode it twice this morning during ERT, and I was actually pretty let down. I actually think that Zypher is better. If you can go up in the Eiffel Tower, you can ride the WindSeeker without any problems. It's essentially a Merry-Go-Round on a tower. I don't think it's a complete waste, because WindSeeker will be a good ride to watch, especially at night. It adds a lot to the skyline, is very marketable, and something that families can do, but it is basically just another spinning ride in the Coney Mall area. One ride per season will be enough for me from here on out. Probably the worst thing about it was watching Diamondback and The Beast finish testing from the top. You could see all three Diamondback trains parked and waiting for people to enjoy... but only as soon as the hour long ERT on the over-hyped fair ride is finished. I voted average/gentle/Drop Tower - Family ride in the same class as the Scrambler. Nothing wrong with that, but nothing that's going to keep me entertained for an hour every Saturday morning. One ride per season will work for me from now on.
  15. Just because it went down for high winds one time, doesn't mean that high winds are always the reason. It could have been down for mechanical reasons or otherwise. I can see it now in future TRs: "WindSeeker was down today but there was no wind. I don't get it."
  16. Remember that WindSeeker is the new ride, and it has been marketed like crazy, so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the lines are there. Also, on all of my visits Action Zone is usually pretty busy in the evening.
  17. Perhaps they will finish off the complete rework of the park and continue onto Action Zone. Perhaps they will finish off the wooden roller coaster that has been sitting in Action Zone empty for two and a half years now... Or of course a water park re-innovation is due at this point. Always a loose end to be tied up at Kings Island! But it's good to hear that WindSeeker is open, and I'm looking forward to it Saturday morning.
  18. The fact that Cedar Point's WindSeeker is open and ours isn't has nothing to do with Cedar Fair liking Cedar Point more. The fact that Cedar Point's is open and our isn't wasn't "chosen" by someone. It just happened that way. and the fact that Cedar Point's WindSeeker is open and our isn't has absolutely nothing to do with Dick Kinzel. Absolutely nothing. Especially now.
  19. I noticed this too. Anyone else notice the new sign they have posted about halfway through the line? It separates the entrance from exit and gives better instructions on what to do.
  20. Honestly, I understand the complaints that say the music was too loud. Maverick always has long lines, and when I'm waiting in line I don't want to sit there and have music pounded into my eardrums. I PERSONALLY have never noticed the music being too loud, but I do remember it being louder than it was at most other rides. At least they turned it down instead of changing the music or eliminating it completely.
  21. I'd say an 8. Just as good as last year, but some points are deducted because it's taking so long for WindSeeker to open.
  22. May 21st No pictures today! I completely forgot my camera! Sorry! We got there at opening as always. WindSeeker was at the top of its tower, and it seemed to drop down slowly all day (when we left, it was halfway down the tower). Hopefully it will be open next week! Anyway, we sprinted for Diamondback for our first ride of the day. Since there wasn't any line, we waited for the back. I have to say, while I think the first drop is much better in the back, I much prefer it in the front. I also prefer it in the inside seats over the outside as well. I know this is the opposite of what most people like, but for me you just can't beat the smoothness and the fun of riding up front. That's just me. We headed for The Beast and rode in the very back (it was the only seat without a line!!) This was actually only my second time riding in the very back, and it was much smoother than last time. In fact, the only part I would call "rough" was the turn before the brake shed. That's it. The re-tracking over the offseason has improved the rideability of the ride so much. We rode again in the very back, and once in row 4-3. "Wheel seats" are usually the ones to avoid, but thanks to the re-tracking, it's easy to enjoy the ride in every seat. After The Beast, we walked towards the front of the park. Diamondback was down, but we saw it running again in about 10 minutes. After the Star Spangled Banner, we went to Action Zone. Our next ride was Invertigo. The wait was around 20 minutes as soon as the park opened, which amazed me. Action Zone is usually dead until a little later in the day, but all of the rides in the area were packed with people. I guess it's just the sign of a typical Saturday. We rode Invertigo in the front (back?), and it was the best ride I've ever had on it. So intense! Fantastic ride, and actually pretty smooth. The ride could use a new paintjob or at least a touch up, but the ride experience was great. I highly recommend riding in the very front or the very back if you've never done so. We ran over to Delirium to check on the line. Another 20 minute wait. We enjoyed the ride like we always do. In fact, it's our favorite flat ride in the park. Our favorite operating flat ride in the park anyway... The park was crowded today, but we got some good rides in. We got a fantastic ride on Invertigo, some great rides on The Beast, and a ride on Delirium and Diamondback. Good day. Diamondback - x1 The Beast - x3 Delirium - x1 Invertigo - x1
  23. Cedar Point is getting a B&M Hypercoaster and an Arrow Looper behind WindSeeker! I can't wait!!!!!!!
  24. I hope to go to World's of Fun before summer's out, but that will heavily depend on how much money we spend on other hobbies.
  25. "Every week' is a bit of an exaggeration. We visit every week when we have nothing else planned, so if we're visiting relatives in Indy, on vacation, or plan on being busy we don't go. Weekends like this one that call for a 70% chance of rain both days are also ones that we avoid, which is why we didn't go this weekend. Hopefully weather will cooperate next week!
