  1. I know exactly the turn you are talking about (the turn before the brake shed). That's the only spot on the coaster that I now consider excessively rough, but you're right, some retracking there would have been a much welcomed improvement. Lights on in the tunnels are sometimes on and sometimes off. They seem to be on more often early in the season, but it seems that during Haunt they make a point to turn them off. I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what it seems like to me. So they were off on Friday and lit on Saturday?
  2. I would have stopped by guest relations about those two employees. I've never been treated rudely to by a park employee, but then again I rarely eat, drink, or buy anything. Anytime I get treated well by an employee I stop at guest relations to make a point, so I would to the same vise-versa. Especially with the girl that you ordered the root beer floats from. That's really rude and sends me the signal that she doesn't care about her job.
  3. I've made this thread to post all of my 2011 photo trip reports instead of starting a new thread every week. Hope you enjoy! April 30th (Opening Day) Well, we didn't stay long. Our main reason for visiting was to get our pass processed, and to get a ride on Diamondback and The Beast. You may have seen me there. I was wearing a leather jacket and was carrying around a camera case. We got there at about 8:30 and got our pass processed with ease. I was worried all week that the line would be 2 hours long, but we walked right up to a booth and got our pictures taken. We waited at the gates, got in, and ran for Diamondback. We were assigned a seat in the middle, which was alright. It felt good to be on a coaster again. After Diamondback, we walked over to The Beast. Walking past the pop machines, soda is 4 dollars a bottle! I think they were less than that last year. Getting on The Beast, we noticed that the music was different, both in the station and on the ride. The ride was extremely squeaky, which I assume is the fact that the wheels weren't greased properly. The newly re-tracked areas are mainly the turns before the second lift hill, and they are noticeably smoother. Unfortunately, The Beast shut down while we were on the final brake run before the station! Before leaving, we went over to check out the "new" Coney Mall. The pictures speak for themselves. It really looks excellent. May 7th This was a pretty busy day, mainly because of the amount of band and choir groups. ERT was fun with Diamondback and The Beast. Both were running well. We also managed in a ride on The Racer and Flight Deck before deciding to leave. Flight Deck was runny extremely well. I was very impressed with it. We stayed a total of 2 hours (9-11) and got in 2 Diamondback rides, and one ride on The Beast, The Racer, and Flight Deck. Not bad.
  4. I voted "Son of Beast" overhaul, but I don't necessarily want it overhauled and reopened, I just want something done with it. I don't care if it is destroyed or opens, I want there to be some sort of progress.
  5. Yes, this weekend we have ERT on Diamondback and The Beast because WindSeeker will not be open. However, this season the park will normally be operating WindSeeker and Vortex for ERT. Remember that Saturday is the only day for hour long ERT. Every other day has ERT for only a half an hour.
  6. I've honestly never understood why everyone complains about the music in the park. I think it's great! I don't get why "area specific music" is such a big deal. No matter what song they play, it's never going to make you forget the fact that you're in an amusement park, so why not just play good music that everyone can get some sort of enjoyment out of.
  7. B&M Inverts/Floorless and CCI Woodies. PTC Woodies also have a special place for me.
  8. Octoberfest has essentially become a part of International Street/Coney Mall, but I still think it's valid enough to have its own area. The lake is enough for that. It's a lot like the Frontier Trail at Cedar Point. Is it part of Frontier Town or is it its own area? Either way, would you consider Millennium Force to be a part of that area?
  9. Wow. Hopefully they get things straightened out in the next couple of weekends, or preferably before next weekend. I don't like the idea of Opening Day being used as a "test day" to see what can go wrong, because it seems like that's what's happening.
  10. I thought the same thing. I enjoyed the queue line experience, too! Seriously, the music is awesome.

It really looks excellent. Hello 2011! With old favorites... ... but there's some thing new here! (For those who didn't know, WindSeeker wasn't open today!) We made it! We made it! Diamondback ran well. Smooth, fast, and full of airtime. Onto my favorite attraction in the park: World's Most Overpriced Soda Machines! Hey wait, there's a coaster back here! I took this while waiting in line. I dig it! Rivertown - 2011 'Dinosaurs Alive! As I was taking this, a woman asked an employee standing nearby "Will this be open today?" Another ride that wasn't open was Vortex, but I left at 10:30 so it may have opened later. The picture everyone wanted to see. Compare it to my avatar! WindSeeker may be new, but it's nowhere near as impressive as BRICKS!!!!!!!!! In all seriousness though, Coney Mall looked fantastic. Well, not bad considering that we only stayed for an hour and a half. My first time visiting on opening day, and I had fun! Diamondback - x1 The Beast - x1
  12. - There was a "lazer maze" in Coney Mall. I don't know if this is new, but I've never noticed it before. - New music for The Beast - New paint, pavers, and games for Coney Mall.
  13. I was on The Beast when it went down, on the brake run before the station.
  14. I agree 100%. I thought this was a great offseason. It showed us that Cedar Fair cares about the stuff that we didn't think they did. The amount of "small" things done this year should reflect in the park experience. And I see your point about The Cyrpt not being "re-themed", but "improved". I changed it.
  15. Cedar Fair has made a lot of improvements to the park, so I've made this poll to summarize what everyone's thoughts are about what has been done this winter. This thread is for anything and everything to do with your thoughts on the offseason.
  16. That may be true, but imagine what the peninsula would be like if there were no resorts and imagine how much differently the park would run itself. Soak City would probably be included with admission or it wouldn't be worth having anyway, Challenge Park probably wouldn't exist, the restaurants located out of the park most likely wouldn't exist, ERT either wouldn't exist or would be an awfully lot smaller, Jet Ski Rentals and Para-sailing wouldn't be available (at least not on the peninsula)... All these things rely on the resorts to survive. EDIT: Thanks for posting that Browntggrr. They might not make most of their money off of resorts, but it's a significant amount none the less.
  17. I think it's a safe thing to say that if the resorts weren't there, CP wouldn't make close to what it is making now. Not even just off of the room rates, but the restaurants located there as well. Driving to an offsite McDonald's is a lot easier in Mason than it is in Sandusky. Resorts bring in tourist, tourist bring in cash, and getting tourist to spend cash is a lot easier than getting a local to do so.
  18. Once again, great footage. Loving this.
  19. I'd guess that it would have a lot to do with the fact that Kings Island's admission includes the water park, but Cedar Point's admission does not. But then you should also consider that much better deals on admission can be found if you stay in a CP resort, which is where CP makes most of it's money.
  20. For season passholders, this definitely the truth. It pays for itself in a few visits, there's no parking fee per visit, and there's perks on top of it. However, I don't see how 51.99 for one visit is getting your money's worth at all, especially considering that you have to pay 12 dollar parking on top of it. We're enthusiast on here, and most of us have a season pass. However, the average family looking for something to do on Saturday may just look at the advertised price of $51.99 and say "No thanks, we'll take the kids to the park and the movies."
  21. You have to remember that individual rides have different capacities than others. Lines have very little indication on popularity. Diamondback usually has a (relatively) short line of 30-45 minutes on very busy days, while Firehawk can have a 45-60 minute wait on moderate and even light days. Just remember that WindSeeker is the newest ride, so it will probably have long lines all day. I wouldn't worry too much. You'll have plenty of time to take in the place and have a lot of fun. My main bit of advice though, stay late because all the groups will be leaving at around 5. Stay after 5, and you'll be given a lot of opportunities for short, short lines on some of the most popular rides.
  22. If I were in charge, this would be the direction I'd go: $35.99 for adults $24.99 for juniors/seniors $49.99 for two days $10 parking with $5 coupons available on the internet And offer coupons on the internet that give enough discounts on food that it will not only make the families want to eat at the park, but it will also give individual eateries advertisement. That being said, I think that the season pass prices are pretty cheap right now, which shows that they do in fact make more money off of the things you pay for every time you visit rather than the admission to get in.
  23. This is why I don't understand why they even advertise the $51.99 tickets. I understand $51.99 for two days, that's actually a good deal. Advertising $35.99 for one day isn't bad at all. More people would see the cheap admission, pay the cheap admission, and come in and spend a little bit more.
  24. I haven't been on any, but I've heard that some are just a roam around fun day, and on others you have to fill out a packet of questions.
  25. Which makes you wonder. Perhaps they are fine with loosing that little bit of money on admission because they are confident that they will make it back when you return. The $12 parking charge that they get before you even walk in the park is one way... When they give you a ticket, you come back and pay it again. EDIT: Then obviously there is the price of food and gifts you are bound to pay by coming in. The second you walk in the park you get your picture taken and are asked to buy it. The park makes the majority of its money off of merchandise, not admission. If they can get you to come back and spend the same amount on merchandise as you did the first time, then they've made up for the money that they've lost by giving you admission.
