  1. You could shower in the employee locker rooms... but I don't think that would fly well either. Hmm... if you do a lock in a tour of the park at night would be great, and think of the ghost stories we could tell and get you all freaked out about! In all seriousness, I highly doubt that it would be possible. There is way too much that has to go on after the park closes that a bunch of kids would be in the way.
  2. I have an idea about the basketballs: We can give them away deflated and then charge a penny outside the metal detectors to inflate them on their way out of the park. It might give the park a few extra bucks and stop annoying everyone at the same time! Those are one of the most annoying things in the park...
  3. Didn't someone tell you that you are not allowed to have cameras on a ride!
  4. I agree with everything said already, but I have to add this: My parents taught me never to touch something in a store unless you are going to buy it. I HATE it when kids (heck, teens and adults for that matter too) walk through a store and have to touch everything, pick things up, play with everything, move things around, walk around a store with merchandise and then put it somewhere else and leave, walk by a display and knock something off and then not put it back. I really get ticked when the kids do all that stuff with the parents right there! I mean come on! Tell your kids to keep their hands off the merchandise! I have seen some kids break things while playing with it and the parents just stuff it somewhere like nothing happened. What ever happened to the "if you break it you buy it" rule? Oh, as of people flipping security off, I watch for that... what is more annoying is when you ask someone to do something, and then walk off and they don't (something simple like putting a shirt back on). I usually walk away and then turn around to look, only to find them looking back like "oh crap" and quickly doing what I asked them too, or to find them flipping me off or just wakling away like nothing was ever said. Park rules are rules, if you don't like following them and I have to tell you twice, the third time your leaving!
  5. I never understood why people just have to wear their most favorite hats or their most expensive sunglasses on a dang roller coast! If it means that much to you, then leave it at home or in the blasted car!
  6. Di knows what she is talking about! Then again, it does take two for this kind of stuff, but I have to agree with everything she said!
  7. No grad night this year, but I'm pretty sure the park will be opened to the public the day that we usually had grad night.
  8. Um, 35 or 45,000 people in the park is normal Saturday in the summer. A ton of people would be 50,000 or more. With that many people you can wait 3-4 hours for a ride. 35 or 45,000 2 or 2.5 hours of wait time. 60,000 can shut down the front gates untill enough people left to bring in more.
  9. PKI is private property. When you buy a ticket or a season pass, you agree to the terms and conditions held within. Read the back of the ticket or season pass. It has information there. There are also rules on the park maps and at the entrence of the rides. As of smoking, it has always been against the rules to smoke in the ride lines. If you don't belive me, just read the signs at the entrance of the lines, and pay attention to the "no smoking" signs in the ride lines. Smoking in the entire park being retained to only a few areas is a great idea IMO. It will be hard to inforce, but we didn't have much of a problem with it during sneak peak weekend. We'll see what happens next. If people do not want to follow the rules (any of them, including the no food or drinks in the park, no knives, not following the alcohol policy, ect.) than they can just stay at home. We don't want you in the park if you won't follow our rules.
  10. You had to love the weather today. The first 1000 passholders got the cups, and most of them left after getting it. 99 cent refills all season long if you bring the cup back! Colorvision is now in charge of all the photoboths, Kodak is no longer in the park. Hopefully they will get the SOB and Beastie photoboths back up and running soon. Thanks for all those who did stuck around for the couple hours we were open!
  11. I would love to have a smoking ban all together, it would be easier to tell people just to put it out and not light up in the park at all. It would be something else for the metal detectors to tell people. I know a ton of people would get ****ed about an overall ban, so designated smoking areas are better. In BB last year, we had a few people that ignored the designated smoking areas several times and we can revoke their passes for doing so multiple times. I am hoping that it won't be that bad in the park. Guests need to remember that they can not smoke in any ride line! It's posted on the entrance of every freaking line... people are dumb and just don't read.
  12. The parking lot is huge, a mile long. If you look at what they are doing, it cuts the employee parking lot in half. It looks like they are adding in a walking path/tram path from the Season Pass gate of the water park to the front gate (which I think tram circle will be taken out or worked on too). Since we had a problem last year with people walking down the access road to get to the main gate, I guess this is an answer. We had a hard time keeping people out of the way of the employee's coming and going, so this is a better way to make them go where we want them to.
  13. You would be suprised how many people bring their small kids with them and make them go through the mazes. Then they get all peeved b/c their kid got scared and upset and sometimes they get in trouble for hitting a character or something. Geezs. Parents now-a-days! (Not you of course, Chef, I'm sure your a great daddy!) Winterfest is MUCH more family oriented. I know of a lot of older couples that would get passes to the park or at least come in during Winterfest with their grandkids. It was a blast when I was there as a kid. Of course, that was when they did figure skating and ice shows on the stage in Festhaus.
  14. I know there are new floats and they probably got rid of some too. It's going to be a pretty neat show this year! I hope we have as much fun as we did last year with it. We have a totally awsome entertainment staff who really put in 110%, that is why it went so well. Those guys and gals don't really get enough credit, so Cheers to them! Hope you do well again this year, you rock!
  15. We have staff meetings up there too. It's a great place to do some paperwork and training, they used to do interviews up there. It's still used all season long and sometimes in the off season. It just depends. As of opening it up again for full service like it was...
  16. I didn't like TR:TR. I tend to get off the ride feeling a little sick. It's not my idea of fun. Oh well. Maybe if the reprogram it it would be better? They are building a new version of the ride at PKD so they could be coming up here to do some work on this one.
  17. The '05 season will be my 5th year at the park! I'm already being called a lifer! I've really enjoyed working at the park, and I have made a lot of friends and I meet my wonderful girlfriend there as well. It's been very rewarding. They have scholarships too. As of going to the park for free, your ID does work like a season pass and you have to enter and exit through the employee entrance at Gate 3. I really enjoyed going to the park with my friends (I would give them the free tickets we get) for the first year, but after that I was in the park so many hours that I never wanted to go and play. Just depends on what you like I guess.
  18. Wow, several things... I really would love to see anything Star Trek at the park! The parade next year will be probably take out some old floats and add a few more. It should be great! We were one of the best parks to put it on, not all the parks had the entertainment crew that we had (and they ROCK!) and didn't have much spirit in the parade. It would really blow if WinterFest started on BlackFriday. The attendance will be so bad! Hopefully that isn't true...
  19. The perimeter of the park is huge, and 5k long.
  20. The park grounds is not a no fly zone. Although I belive that something like should not have flown over the park esp. with a picture of an aborted 10 week old fetus on it. There isn't much the park can do except call and complain to someone and maybe someone might get a fine.
  21. I actually think it would be a great idea for the park to bring back the older characters which I remember and have a while day of meet and greet with them. If it was advertised I'm sure it would draw a decent size crowd. I would love to have my pic taken with Yogi, BoBo, Quickdraw, the Smurfs, and all the other classic characters!
  22. Maybe it will go behind International Showplace in the big grassy area? It would take a lot to build it up into something interesting, but probably not any more or less than Route 666. I'm not sure where else the park could put it unless it's out in the woods more like the Psycho Path is. Behind Beast perhaps?
  23. Actually, Vortex being a steel coaster and all and knowing how old it is and will be, it's possible that it will be removed in the next five years or so. Only time will tell. Steel coasters have a life span, it gets too expensive to upkeep them and find parts and the metal can fatigue on them. Once that starts to happen, you have no choice but to replace entire sections, rebuild or remove. Wood coasters don't have that problem as long as there is wood around to replace pieces with.
  24. I wouldn't mind ACE walkbacks but we are never told when they are, so we have a big group of people walking behind our ropes in the morning and were like "What the heck?". Of course, with the GR or rides person with you it's all good, but we would really like a little warning. GR has a lot to do in the mornings, so it's hard to get them to you guys before 9:30. Besides, it's actually better that you don't get back there till about quarter till only because we don't actually clear the vehicals from the park till about 10 till 10.
  25. Actually it would have been located right next to the changing rooms across from Outback. It would be neat to have one, but it would be a challenge to moderate it. You would have to have some sort of sign up sheet and it would probably have to be a pay thing. I'm not sure. It would be nice to have it out there, a lot of people said they would use it if they had it. We have one in the picinic grove but I think I've only seen it used once in the 3 years I've been working in the park.
