  1. I'm hearing it won't be back this year, but will be next.
  2. I stand corrected, thank you. I was posting for another thread and found that out as well, so I changed my previous post.
  3. Lots of great suggestions! I'm glad you guys are on the ball with this. The big one is to start in the park counter clockwise. Also, do not come on Bring a Friend Free Day. These days are insane, you can't park, most lines are 2+ hours long, we usually end up closing the front gates and not letting anyone else in because of the crowds. Another really, really good suggestion is not to come to the park at all during the weekends. If you can manage it, get the time off during the week (not a Friday!) to come down. The lines will be much better during the weekdays than a weekend. If you do come to the park: We do not allow coolers in the park unless they contain baby formula or medicines that have to be kept cold. Water is free at all the food stands that have soda fountains in them, so drink lots of water! Make sure kids have cell phone numbers or pager numbers if they happen to get lost we can call you. We will not page people in the park unless there is a verified police or medical emergancy. Lost kids are escourted to Baby Care, located in HB. Now, on to some more specifics... 1. The link given earlier will help you out with the pass question. The Gold Passes must be purchased before May 23rd. The perks are nice if you are going to be in the park during the times that they are being offered. Most Gold Pass holders don't read their information and assume all perks are good all the time. They are not! If you are looking into a gold pass, then please make sure you will be able to use the perks that you are paying for. Again refer to the link that was posted earlier. 2. I didn't know this untill I read the post above me somewhere. You should be able to call PKI's information line (which you can find on the www.pki.com site) for more information on the pass holder rates. There are also several nice area hotels and campgrounds that you can look into. 3. If you can't manage to come during the week, weekend lines are much longer. Last year Scooby had some pretty long lines most of the time, ranging from 30 minutes to more than an hour (if people remember when it was wrapped around IS?). The crew for Scooby was pretty awsome last year and had things moving wonderfully and wait wasn't too bad on normal days (non-holidays or special days like BAFFD). Kutos to those who know who they are! Keep it up this year! Other rides in HB have moderate lines during the weekends. 4. It's been mentioned that if you have a moter home, you will be forced to park in the bus lot. This is very true and it is also true that it is pretty close to haveing being in the Gold Pass lot. You will not be able to stay over night in the parking lot, of course. Also, if you stay in the campgound you won't have to worry about driving over, you can walk or take the Campground Shuttle. 5. I didn't work in the Water Park much last year, but the days I did work were crowded. The lines can be long, the wave pool can be packed and there were usually no open seats. It should be much better this year with BB, but since it is a new area it will no doubt be very busy most of the time. Gold Pass holders do get an exclusive weekend, but that is subject to change depending on weather and other circumstances that might arise. 6. You don't get a coupon book with a season pass, at least not that I know of. You will have to go to the link that was posted earlier to find that out. 7. Read all the stuff I wrote at the top!
  4. April 3rd's tickets are being given away on a radio station, but they are also the free tickets that the employees recieve to give out. The crowd expected that day isn't very large, but will consist mostly of the free tickets that the employees have, not the tickets the radio station(s?) are giving out. Sunday April 4th is a Pass Preview day, from noon to 8pm. The tickets the employees have ARE NOT good on April 4th, they are only good for the date printed on the ticket. If you are really stupid and come to the park on the 4th and try to use that ticket, you won't get in. I say "stupid" because the date on the ticket is printed clearly and states that it is only good that day (April 3rd, 2004). If you look at the Gold Pass perks on PKI's site, you will find this out. It should have also been included with your Gold Pass information when you bought. Please keep in mind, if you haven't read this information read it! If you don't have it, check www.pki.com for information on the Gold Pass and what the perks are and when they are. This will help you out a great deal and avoid a ton of problems which arise during the season from Gold Passers not know when their perks are and getting ticked (I really, really should use a stronger word) at the employees b/c of their own stupidity. Okay, enough ranting and raving.
  5. No one was ever killed by power lines falling on them. I have no idea where you got that from. Also, on Black Sunday there were three people that died: The guy that fell into Oktoberfest pond and got electrocuted, the Security Officer that jumped in to save him, and a drunk lady who passed out on Sky Lab and fell off the ride. Tower Johnny got killed on the Tower. There are numerous reasons out there as to how he got killed. What I can clear up is that the 50 foot observation deck was opened at that time (has been closed since the accident) and he managed to get over the fencing and ontop of an elevator which did take him to the top of the Tower. That is where he got killed. Now, again, why repeat everything again? Someone else already posted a link to the disscussions that are just the same as this thread.
  6. Wow, hauntings at PKI are popular. Maybe the admins can think of putting up a permanent article or something explaining the deaths that have occurred in the park and the supposed hauntings that stem from them? If you search the forums there are several threads already opened about hauntings in the park. Why start another one? Just for the record... don't say the park isn't haunted till you have to walk the entire park at 2 in the morning by yourself! Or drive the perimeter at that time by yourself. The place is freaky as all get out!
  7. Oh God! BAFFD is the *BEST* day to work! I actually did enjoy it because there really wasn't any down time. I like to stay busy! Also, I have a feeling that the walk on weekends is going to be a problem... it wasn't too bad during the week, but since the weekends are the busy times, it's going to be much more of a headach. I think after this year they won't do it on the weekends again. Just a feeling... and I do feel sorry for the ride ops! You guys are going to be blasted more than you were last year for it. Watch people jumping your que, though... that happend a lot last year, people would go into the normal ride line and then jump over to the fast pass lane. Not fun, but I didn't mind kicking them off the ride.
  8. I'm sure I've posted something like this before, but oh well... for those of you who have had the luck of hearing me in the mornings at the rope, you know it. If you haven't had that luck, then good luck reading this. I usually say something like this at every morning rope. I tweak it depending on the rope I'm at, usually telling about new rides in the area and giving directions to where other rides are at. It also changes depending on the month and any thing special going on. Good morning and welcome to Paramount's Kings Island! There are a few things you have to remember while you are in the park: First, shoes shirts and shorts are required in the park at all times. The exception, of course, is the water park. The water park opens at 10 and is included with the price of admission. Gold Pass memebers must use the gold pass gate located in the water works parking lot. There is no smoking in any of the ride lines! If I see you smoking in a ride line, I can kick you out of the line. Please, do not smok in the ride lines. This is posted at all the rides. Also, line jumping is not a sport! We take it very seriously in the park and if I see you line jumping I can kick you out of the park and we do not give refunds. If you are with a group, stay together when you get into the ride line. You are not allowed to catch up with your group if they are already in line, it would be line jumping. If you get out of line for any reason, you must start at the end of the line. You are not allowed to get back in line where you were at. That is line jumping. Do not jump or climb over or under any of the que lines or fences for the lines. You must enter a ride line at the entrance. If I see you enter into a ride line at any other point than the entrance, it is line jumping and I will kick you out of the line. For those of you that enjoy a drink while in the park, you are not allowed to walk around the park with alcohol. All alcohol must be finished on the patio or in the building where you buy it. If you are walking around the park with alcohol, we'll make you throw it away. If I see you transfer alcohol into any other container than the one that it is served in, I will make you throw it away. We do not page anyone in the park unless there is a verified police or medical emergancy. If you become seperated from your group, please go to one of the message center locations, located at Baby Care in Hanna Barbara Land, under the front gate at Guest Relations, and at the kiosk under the tower. If you lose a child 11 years old or younger, get a hold of an employee and we will be able to help you find your child. Childern 12 years old and up are considered by the park allowed to walk around by themselves. If you become seperated from a child 12 years old or older, please go to a message center location. Water is free in the park if you ask for it! Glasses of water are free at most food stands. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I'll drop the rope in 10 minutes.
  9. FoF is pretty scary when you look at it with the lights on. I was *lucky* enough to be able to go underneath the station and to see inside the drum while the ride was operating. It's really, really loud and scared me to death because your close to the tracks in some parts. The sup walking me through laughed at me. I was also able to see the inside through the back during the off season last year. They had the big doors open for the inside of the drum, it was pretty cool! The ride would scare people to death if they kepted the lights on, it would look like you would run into everything and get your head chopped off by the tracks and other things in the building.
  10. Betazid wedding! That would be great... any one willing to do that? Of course, it might be possible, up in IR with all the windows blacked out or something. lol I miss the Star Trek people! I really, really wanted to be a ST character when I was young, it didn't matter which ones! There were normal humans, Klingons, Vulcans and Ferangi. I wasn't scared of any of them! They used to hang out in Festhaus a lot, probably b/c in the back is where they changed. It was great! ST the expereience in Vegas is coming out with a new ride: Borg 4D! Sounds like it would be something cool to have for the FX Theater!
  11. Wierd Al was cool! I got to meet him backstage, he's a really nice guy. I also got to meet Billy Idol. He was pretty interesting, a so were the guys backstage that came with him. Great show, though. I also got to hang out with Third Eye Blind all day, that was cool! That was probably the best time last year for a concert. I didn't like Aaron Carter... he didn't sing any original songs, the crowd was all kids who's parents stood up the entire concert and then b*tched at us when we asked people to sit down b/c the parents were holding their kids on their shoulders and stuff. Well, the concerts for the kids not for the parents! If the parents would sit down, than the kids would see! Duh! Parent's didn't understand that.
  12. Spirit Song tickets are on sale now at TicketMaster, just type in "Paramount's Kings Island" as the venue and you will find it.
  13. The picnic grove has been where it is since the park opened, beastfreak is right. It's a nice place to have a family reunion or big corporate party. You can now have groups of 25, and probably smaller if you call ahead and set it up. The park can make the food and serve it for you (and the food out there is great! The chicken is the best in the picinic grove!) or you can have an event catered from an outside company. They also have a live band in the bandstand on Saturdays during the summer for a few hours. Maybe PKIU/C can see about getting a get together for next year in the grove?
  14. Just make sure you don't flip off the camera! It gives me something to do on a slow day to fuss at people who do, but you can have a season pass suspended for doing that and employees can be writen up for it. Just have fun, but don't do anything stupid.
  15. People from Paramount Parks Corporate were there last year taking pictures of the outside of the Festhaus from all angles and the mentioned a possible "update".
  16. If the park does have to get new zoening, they have to show a proposal for the new sign. I wonder if that is public stuff?
  17. Hmm... we went from talking about the new sign to Oscars... that's scary... and the food there IS NOT good for humans. Anyway, the sign should be something pretty cool... I'm thinking Vegas style with animations and stuff. Wishfull thinking? Maybe. Hopefully the installation won't be delayed... last time I heard it might not be up in time for opening, but hey, things can change.
  18. Wow, nice information! They should have stuff things like "Historical Markers" in the park for rides like that, The Beast and so on. It would be interesting to the guests, I'm sure to find out some infromation about the rides that isn't printed in the park map (which they don't read anyway).
  19. They also had Days of Thunder showing in the FX Theater
  20. I was at school today looking at the coop job board and found a job for PKI in their tech department. It's part time only for now, 20-30 hours a week, with some full time hours during the summer season. It didn't mention pay or anything like that, but you have to be a college student working on getting a technology degree. If your interested, you might want to contact the park's HR department or check with your own college coop (professional practice/job placement) office.
  21. I was looking at coop jobs posted at my school today and Kings Island had a postion open for a part time (20-30 hours) tech job with possibilites of full time work during the season. If anyone is interested, you might want to try and call PKI's HR department and see if they have any information. The one stipulation was that you have to be in college for a technology degree. If there is anyone on these forums that might be interested in that, you might enjoy it.
  22. Well, I guess the water comes from the river... but there are underground resoviours by the river (probably feed by the river) which is what the park is actully pumping from. They did have to drill two or three new wells for the building of the water park, but probably for the extended landscaping that they are doing. The drinking water is not pumped from these wells, the park gets that from Mason. Mason's water is supplied by and run by Cincinnati Water Works (just as an f.y.i)
  23. Close sobrider... it's the water treatment plant for the park. I don't belive that the drum holds water, but it does hold the pumps for the fire supression systems and some other things that the plant needs to operate. The water itself is pumped up to the treatment plant from pumps located by the river. If your on the path across the river from the park, you can see the pumps if you look over towards the park.
  24. Okay back to topic... It would be awsome for any big named act, or some well known locals, to appear at PKI. Would they? I don't know. I guess it all depends on if they (the bands, acts) want to make a ton of money or really get it on with their fans and and perform someplace relativly inexpensive and fun like Timberwolf. Heck, they could do some cool things with their fan clubs like have contests to have people get backstage, ride a ride or two with 'em, whatever. Third Eye Blind did that, they had two fans ride Beast with them when they were there. I think it is really up to the people that take care of things for the artists. The park can always extend an invitation, but it is up to the artist and their staff.
  25. Hey, I'll get shirt for the game. It's a great idea, actually b/c I know that finding a great host can be expensive, expecailly with the amount of traffic and space that site generates. Maybe you can actually talk with PKI and see if they can help out somehow by giving you come more exclusive things, like interviews with staff, staff bios (like Jeff's and maybe higher up, say Craig Ross?) and some backstage access to get pics and/or video of the maintence areas and coasters during operation? Maybe some backstage passes to concerts as well? Anything is possible... Maybe they will let you hand out fliers about the site at the front gate? Okay, that might be going too far, but Jeff might be able to help you out with that. As long as I don't have to pay monthly for a site, I'm happy with it. A donation every now and then would be great... and I know I can afford that!
