  1. ^How about acting somewhat mature and trying this... "It is my humble opinion that we are not getting any new ride addition in 2008 due to the fact that there was a rather large addition to the rides line up last year with the addition of Firehawk. We may have seen the end of consistently adding a new ride each season like we did during the Paramount years. For reasons I have not declared, I am not too fond of the majority of users on this forum." I don't know what is funnier and more memorable, that or: "I will not support an organization that does not support all forms of lodging!"
  2. Write-in candidate for the Hanna-Barbera Party: George Jetson
  3. Personally, I wouldn't mind if The Racer went back to all-forward operation. About the park having one-sided operation on slower days... hell, it's not like The Racer staff raced the trains most of the time anyway! Even in '07, it looked like the old Paramount people were running the place... and not just because they kept wearing the Paramount Parks blue shirts.
  4. What roller coaster in your opinion had its best year ever? Tie: Adventure Express and Son of Beast. What thrill ride in your opinion had its best year ever? Delirium What restaurant had the best food? - Panda Express. Good quality. (Of course, LaRosa's gets an honorable mention.) What crew/area was best? - Adventure Express. Not only on the ball, but even enthused. Did Son of Beast have its Best Year Ever? explain why or why not. - Yes, as later in the season, not just my first ride of the season, I had a comfortable ride. The Premier trains just sucked. What new show in 2007 was the best in your opinion? - Endless Summer on Ice What was the best thing that happened this year at Kings Island? - Removal of the Paramount name, and emphasis on cleanliness. What change from 2006 to 2007 was the best? Again, the beginning of De-Paramountization Did Kings Island Central have its best year ever? I don't see why not: the event, and more members than ever! You may add more reason of why you think 2007 was the best year ever after these question. Please respect others opinions. Till next year, Happy New Year! It was the beginning of a new era for Kings Island. A re-emphasis on thrills (Firehawk), while still improving the aspect of family entertainment (New shows, Nick Universe still great).
  5. If the Walt Disney Company loses a lawsuit against the other (hypocritical) people, the we're screwed. That creates precedent for someone to open a burger stand called "Wendy's," a guy named John C. Penny to open a department store featuring his first two initials and last name*, or the right to open a "Mary Ott Inn."** *I purposely spelled it "Penny," as it is different than the existing company "JCPenney." **Remember MikeRoweSoft.com? That kid's site didn't last long. Just personal commentary.
  6. Kings Dominion did indeed have a "Flight Trainer," like KI's. I saw it in an older roller coaster book, photo dated around 1991 when Anaconda was new. Not sure of its year of removal, which was likely around 1995.
  7. I'm a grad student at Ohio State, which means just about any money I get will be for educational and living expenses. I do plan, however, to get a Platinum pass for next season, and go to Holiday World, hopefully for HoliWood Nights, and quite possibly even Kennywood. A few years ago, I was on co-op as an undergraduate, and some of the money I earned went to park trips. I went to not only the area/Ohio parks, but also Six Flags Great America, Six Flags America, Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Dorney Park, Hersheypark, Michigan's Adventure, and a few others. This year, I didn't do much park trips outside the Ohio-Kentucky area, aside from the Washington, DC area, where I visited SFA. After starting fall quarter, my only park visit was to KI in late October.
  8. 100 gave me "Volcano: The Blast Coaster" http://www1.cedarfair.com/kingsisland/attr...l.cfm?ai_id=100 74 = Psycho Mouse 10 = Thunder Road at Carowinds 30 = Ricochet, on the Carolina Boardwalk
  9. Looks like Paramount's Kings Island* is getting a Coasters after all! *that's what the page title, and the park logo on the right says!
  10. Of course, most parking garages do have elevators. On the other hand, I have seen some security/police officers with Segways, in one of the UC garages. While most of us have conceded that we'll never see a parking garage for Kings Island, I still dream of there being moving sidewalks (like those at airports) throughout KI.
  11. My crazy, politically incorrect, outrageous, never gonna happen list Congo Falls to become Viagra Falls Top Gun to become Gun Control Italian Job Stunt Track to become simply B**w Job Stunt Track Drop Zone to become Drop Your Trousers Zone Paramount Story to become Revised History Tomb Raider the Ride to become Tom bRa(dy) The Ride Flight of Fear to become An Afternoon of Fear with John Phillips (99% of you have no idea what the hell this is) Wings to become Wreckage Days of Thunder to become Wal-Mart Raceway (it's as aesthetically pleasing as, and attracts the core clientele of, WalMart)
  12. Good move: I can imagine that Saturdays will be the same way. I sorta forget the closing times in most of May this season, but if I'm not mistaken, the park closed at 8PM on Saturdays in 2006, not so good on a busy day!
  13. If you look at the main sign, the spacing is a little awkward. Makes it look like it says, TOM BRAIDER: THE RIDE. They should just call it that. Which sounds not too far off from TOM BRADY: THE RIDE.
  14. Asking for water from the Skyline at Coney Mall, for some odd reason, became an incident. I ask for it, and they gave me the attitude that if I wanted it, I had to practically fight for it. Oddly enough, I go to Six Flags America a few days later, and I ask for water. No further questions asked, and the cups are of decent size, as well. (I must also plug that they have their no-smoking policy more organized and enforced than KI/CF does). Overall, I have to echo others sentiments.. want me to pay $3.00 for Coke, $10 for a burger and fries? Get it to me quickly, friendly, and with good quality, and we've got a deal. I remember someone saying that food quality at Disney was lackluster, but that has changed with the Eisner regime "the Disney Decade." The food experience at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg was truly something to write home about. On the other hand, why do some chains like Six Flags, Cedar Point, and former Paramount seem to have gotten away with high prices for not-so-great quality food/service? Shouldn't that be key to success?
  15. That proved to be true with Geauga Lake after Cedar Fair's take-over. Guests still called Dominator "Batman" and Steel Venom as "Superman." I bet some even still called the park itself "Six Flags."
  16. Another nice update! I'd love to go up to Jungle Jim's soon, now that I'm home over winter break. Hopefully within a year I'll get to ride the monorail, which I last rode in 1988 (20 years!)
  17. True for the most part. When I worked at Drop Zone in 1999, we had to close the line down early an hour or so prior to the park's advertised closing time. Yes, I did get a few upset guests when we were doing that. On the other hand, Holiday World still closes their lines early when necessary, at least the last time I visited in Aug. 2006. Now I'm pretty sure Cedar Fair allows you to enter the line right until the "closing time," as it is especially true at Cedar Point, especially Millennium Force, where you could still enter a 2-hour line at 9:59. Personally, I like the idea of getting in line for Firehawk at KI about 10 minutes prior to a 8 or 9pm close... I'd be in the line for an hour, but it beats doing nothing, and especially waiting for it another time, when I could be doing more rides within the same time frame. If Kings Island had the human and financial resources to do a 24-hour operation, I think they could, but don't hold your breath.
  18. My first ever Chuck E. Cheese visit was to the Colerain location over 15 years ago! And now, a tribute to this mouse: nLGtuDZTk6o&rel=1
  19. I wouldn't mind it being like Cedar Point's site, like with ride videos, galleries, a history... On top of that... a new domain name! If they can't get kingsisland.com, why not kings-island.com or kingsisland.net. If they're going to rid the parks of things Paramount, that needs to include a website that implies that name.
  20. I think this poll is like asking if Adam Sandler is Jewish. The real question should be, does Kings Island have the right to deny admission/limit access to children under a certain age or height during Halloween Haunt.
  21. Another sign of a coming divestiture? Possibly, but I doubt it I think they mean that there are other SeaWorlds and another Busch Gardens besides the ones they previously mentioned being in Florida. The new graphic shows 3 SeaWorlds and 2 Gardens', so you mustve read it wrong, I not sure if they're going to split off the parks. However, Busch did say that they were moving the headquarters of Busch Entertainment from St. Louis to Orlando (or somewhere nearby) to better focus on the parks.
  22. Found on the Theme Park Review forums: Look closely, they are also stripping off the ornament that makes the sign Paramount-ish. Until I found it, my lame use of Photoshop: God, do I feel better today. Meeting with OSU's James Laurinaitis. Now this!
  23. One idea I had was putting the picture on an image hosting site, like Flickr, and giving us the link.
  24. An event I've been waiting for has finally come. Can't wait to see a picture!
  25. Did you really need to start a second topic?!
