  1. It's f**cking annoying. It makes s**tloads of money. Which of the two arguments will Cedar Fair, and almost all park owners, go by the most? (If I ran the place, I would abide by the former crass comment.)
  2. you are not supposed to have your phone on firehwk that is your fault If they had lockers that worked, and change machines that worked properly that day, it would have gone into the lockers. If I were a casual guest, I would have NOT come back. In addition, good spelling and grammar would be nice. What the hell is a "guid"?
  3. My permanent address is in the Cincinnati area, Springdale to be more specific. I currently reside in Columbus, on campus at The Ohio State University.
  4. I voted "B," but I'm not sure how strong of a "B" it would be. Pros: Refreshing the park overall, with new logo, removing movie posters, changing to pop/rock music. Giving Son of Beast much better trains, without headrests, and maintaining it. My ride on the 20th of October was good. New live shows - one of the things KI was historically known for. Cons: In some cases, they seemed slow to rid the park of Paramount references and logos. I understand that by Opening Day 2008 they will ALL be gone. In some areas, customer service was not of importance to some employees. When I wanted to buy a ticket to the Hannity concert, or retrieve the phone I lost on Firehawk, they thought I was of incovenience to them. Food service: besides the high prices, lackluster service didn't help. For example, the Festhaus just hasn't been the most "fest"-ive place to have food at the park in the past several years. The Racer crew. If I have to explain why once more... AARRGGHH!!
  5. I estimate that I visited 15-20 times. I hoped to go more, but I had a personal/family crisis in May, and then moved to Columbus and OSU in early September, only visiting once since then (on Oct 20).
  6. My season ended with Adventure Express. I was hoping to meet up with pkiboy on the 20th and do something else later, like Racer, SOB or even Beast, but I can't really complain with this Arrow mine train.
  7. Yeah, I think the admission price could be lower, like less than $20, maybe even $15. Parking price seems reasonable though. I know Cedar Fair owns three Soak City parks in Southern California, two that are by themselves. I'm guessing that those parks' pricing may be similar, though?
  8. Yes! They're keeping the Dominator name. Hopefully there'll be a little surge in season pass sales at KD. In somewhat related news, the park formerly known as Paramount's Great America is becoming California's Great America. http://themeparkvillage.com/gallery/displa...&fullsize=1 It hasn't been officially announced, but it's quietly emerging on park signs. A good way to differentiate from its Six Flags "twin" in Illinois.
  9. I went to the park yesterday, too, but for the "day part," from noon until 7, right as Halloween Haunt was getting underway. It could be a combination of my distaste for gratuitous blood and gore, and also of long lines. The crowds are exactly why they are charging separate admission for the Haunt next year, and not including it with season passes.
  10. I will also be there today, from 12 noon until around 7pm. I haven't been since late August, and I'm a regular at KI. I don't have a car at OSU, so I'm home this weekend, partly to enjoy KI for the final time of the 2007 season.
  11. The Owen Wilson one drew a small chuckle from me. Though I would replace "Kenny Chesney" with "Curtis Jackson" or "Britney Spears" or, for some of us KI fans "Al Weber (nah, his reign is long over)."
  12. A couple points to add/fix: The monorail rolling stock was actually manufactured by Universal Mobility, Inc. This company was later acquired by Bombardier, which has built monorail trains for the Las Vegas system, the current Mark VI trains at Walt Disney World, and smaller trains (like ones used on the safari at KI) for steel-box guideway systems. http://monorails.org/tMspages/TPBUM.html Also, the monorail "base" building/shops were built in 1998, just as Jungle Jim's was receiving the old vehicles from KI.
  13. Thanks for the update Ronny! Last time I went by Jungle Jim's, more pylons and track were starting to go up back in August. How much I'm waiting for the day to ride the Monorail. - Tom, who's about to go to the OSU-Kent State game
  14. D'oh! Post of the day! I've moved to OSU without a car, so I can't make it this time around. Looks like the only park trip for me this fall will be to KI soon.
  15. One thing is given at most parks, if you prefer diet soda, you're stuck with caffeinated cola. Odds are: no caffeine free cola, no diet lemon lime, no Diet Dr. Pepper, and that means no Diet Mountain Dew. A few small parks may be the exception to the rule.Bottled water they sell is NOT spring water (it's Aquafina or Dasani with Cedar Fair - at least Six Flags parks carry Spring! water). If it's through one distributor/company and at a high price, one trade-off I'd like to see is variety.
  16. Coasters 'n Sich predicts that this heap of metal-in-a-box-that-makes-Wal-Mart-look-like-great-architecture will be removed within 5 years.
  17. Congrats and best of wishes! Wonderful pictures, I must say!
  18. And Jim Knippenberg, the article's author, needs to know that the P-word isn't really being used anymore. He must not have been to the park this year.
  19. If I were only allowed to one coaster at Cedar Point, it would be Gemini. I'd like to ride Millennium Force all day, but odds are, I'd be stuck in a long line, people- and time-wise. It's great, but a bit too much on the "popular side."
  20. I have seen some Top Gun shirts that just said "Kings Island," sans Paramount, on them. Did they apply to the sale? (If I had to guess at my own question, I'd guess yes...)
  21. I last visited Coney in 2003, before the Styx/REO Speedwagon/Journey concert at Riverbend. I had a coupon for a discount for the pool and a rides pass, and had a good time. I need to come back next summer.
  22. No doubt that Cedar Fair's decision to downsize Geauga Lake, our sister park, to just Wildwater Kingdom waterpark, has drawn a range of opinions and emotion. That is why I have decided to create a poll... Feel free to explain your choices, especially "Other."
  23. While a separate Challenge Park seems unlikely at KI, I must say that the Sling Shot is a bit close to the midway, in that guests tend to stop in the midway to look at and up at the attraction, creating a bottleneck. Therefore, I wouldn't mind seeing it relocated, especially since it would be a great site (and the fomer Cobra land behind it) for a new flat ride. No dout that it's unlikely that in 2008 there'll be coaster, but '09 will hopefully finally be the year.
  24. As someone who has visited and enjoyed Geauga Lake for about five years, I am angered, saddened, yet understanding about this decision. It makes great sense to change the focus of the property to a waterpark, but eliminating the traditional amusement park altogether is too harsh. I would have kept a few of the coasters, especially Big Dipper, amongst flat rides, and the log flume. While my opinion of Cedar Fair has gone downward (yet still positive), this closing may be more indicative of the regional economy.
