  1. ^ For season pass payment plans, pass(es) would be deactivated if a payment fails to go through. You would make your missing payment(s) and reactivate the pass(es) by updating your credit card information on the Accesso payment site: http://visitkingsisland.com/payments
  2. ^ After your one-year commitment, you could presumably cancel the membership in October and buy a new one in April, saving about 50% that year. The cost savings and perks for loyalty would need to be good enough to prevent this. Any off-season restaurant or movie promotions would be completely worthless for me, considering that I don't live in Cincinnati.
  3. Is this still occurring? Right now, one page just took about 15 seconds to start loading. That's the only time it's happened to me on any device since this topic was created.
  4. ^ Currently, 12 months of SIX membership (good now through 9/14) costs more than a 2014 gold pass (good now through 12/14). I would probably be interested in a FUN membership, assuming it didn't cost more than a season pass. Automatic payments would beat renewing in-person in the fall or having to pay a processing fee to renew online. (Also, assuming no Accesso glitches or other technical annoyances.) Grandfathering prices for patrons with multi-year loyalty is a nice touch. It certainly provides a reason to maintain the membership, rather than take your entertainment dollars elsewhere for a change.
  5. That depends on which e-mail service you use. There's most likely a "not spam" button that will move a message to the Inbox and prevent similar messages from going to Spam in the future. Alternatively, add donotreply@KICentral.com to your contact list, and e-mails from the forum should not be seen as spam.
  6. SIX wasn't in a position to acquire anything in 2006. There was a rumor of a suitor for Canada's Wonderland, but I don't recall any revelations about suitors for the other parks. Players at the time might have included Busch, PARC Management, Parques Reunidos, or CNL/Herschend Family Entertainment.
  7. It was down for maintenance, as discussed in this thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25671-Diamondback-down-for-week-of-june-4th/ (which you don't need to bump, by the way) As for why it took an entire week, I believe a footing was being replaced.

  9. By the way, Mr. Ouimet's last name begins with O, as in Omega.
  10. And for those on mobile? Here's a non-Flash link to his photos on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/33295180@N08/sets/72157635547633384/ EDIT: IPB seems to be automatically replacing Flickr links with Flickr flash widgets. Some trickery is required to actually post a link.
  11. ^ The platinum pass currently costs about $95 more than a Kings Island gold pass. For just one visit to another park, you'd be better off with a single day ticket. If you think you might visit other Cedar Fair park(s) as well, it might be worth it. (Depending on your location, you might consider a Dollywood, Holiday World, SeaWorld Parks, or SIX season pass in lieu of FUN platinum.) If you wanted unlimited visits to just Kings Island and Kings Dominion, you'd actually be better off buying a separate gold pass for each.
  12. ^ That's still there, known as Snoopy's Splash Dance.
  13. I saw this show, once, when I was quite young. I remember being scared that I'd be called up front and hit with slime.
  14. Some states (and all Canadian provinces) will issue an "enhanced" driver license for a small additional charge. This is good for land/water crossings between the US and Canada, eliminating the need to possess a passport or passport card. Unfortunately, Ohio has never got on board. Some cards are better than others, and exchanging cash can be more difficult (and expensive) than you might think. Check currency conversion fees on your card(s) before you go.
  15. ^ I got prompt responses to comments I submitted last summer. I have yet to submit anything this year. As for why they're going unanswered now, it could be KI's post-summer staffing. At least one of the responses I got last year was sent by an intern. By now, all the interns would be back in school.
  16. That bridge is receiving refurbishment, so it will be included in the tolls project. There was talk of also tolling the Sherman Minton, so it wouldn't be used to bypass the tolls on the other bridges. That wasn't included in the final proposal, mainly because this bridge was paid for with federal funds. (Though my guess is that it's only a matter of time until they find a way to toll the Sherman Minton as well.) Tolls for non-frequent users will be $2/crossing with a transponder, $3/crossing with a toll-by-plate prepaid account, and $4/crossing if they have to mail an invoice. (It will be all-electronic tolling.
  17. The Sherman Minton bridge (which carries I-64) doesn't seem to be included in the tolling, for now at least. This is the bridge that most Holiday World traffic from/through Louisville would take.
  18. ^ I'm not Dane, but yes there are ways to do that. For iOS, you would want to use Web Inspector, connected to your desktop Mac. On Android, there are a multitude of options for Chrome and Firefox, including Firebug, Firebug Lite, and Chrome Inspector. I haven't experienced lagging on any of my Android devices. I don't own any Apple products.
  19. It's loading fast enough from here at 6:00am.
  20. ^ State liquor laws would preclude you from bringing your own alcohol to consume in a public place, so no park rule is needed. The park can and will take action against people violating state or federal laws. I have no idea whether the park's liquor license allows patrons to carry their on-site purchased alcohol into the parking lot.
  21. In Ohio, keys don't have to be in the ignition to trigger DUI or open container laws. "Physical control" is all it takes.
  22. Ohio's law only mentions written instructions. Is one of the written instructions to follow operators' verbal instructions? In any case, I think it would come down to one's definition of "inside" the train. The occupant area is generally understood to extend up beyond the top of the seat. Riders and amusement parks recognize putting hands up as a common behavior. It would be extremely easy to include an instruction either to keep arms down or to hold on at all times. The Beast's written and verbal instructions include neither.
  23. Tell the people in promotional photos on the park's website. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/images/rides/beast_slide_2.jpg It's a violation of Ohio law to disregard written safety instructions, which don't directly address putting hands up. (Putting them over the side of the train is another matter.)
  24. ^ Advertising doesn't buy a Golden Ticket award. (Though it almost certainly pays to protect the status quo, in which voters generally choose the same winners each year.) Most awards for picking the "best" of anything are rather meaningless, but they make for good marketing and PR. Much more importantly, KI's kids' area couldn't keep winning this if it wasn't highly regarded.
  25. ^^ 6oz was my guess, which I was once curious enough to confirm with a scale after finding a Kinzel Cup in my car.
