  1. ^ Backlot has a 48" height requirement and launches into an intense helix. KI even rates it as "5 - aggressive thrill". Probably not a "family coaster" by many definitions. (Not Dollywood's apparently.)
  2. The decoding thread got me in the habit of checking this forum way too often. Miss a few hours, miss about five pages.
  3. ^ The Escape Club. (Thankfully, they don't play Will Smith on the train.)
  4. ^ He did. Then he said hello again.
  5. sorry my first post I will remember in the future thank you. It's ok. Just edit your post to include just a small selection from the article, along with the link.
  6. Dorney Park is offering reusable silicone wristbands and a 10% activation bonus. If there's a similar deal at KI, this could be a great deal for season passholders. The fraud potential is probably similar to most credit cards, which now include RFID as well. The wristband would have to be in close proximity to the reader, so purchasing items by accident would not be possible. Of course, like gift cards, these are bearer instruments. You would need to treat the wristband like cash.
  7. CP&LERR Fan posted a POV of the Eiffel Tower in his trip report this past week. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/28069-trip-report-ki-81513 (first video @ 1:37)
  8. My sister now hates roller coasters. A few friends took her to Cedar Point and "forced" her onto everything. She kept her eyes closed and hated every second of it.
  9. I really like that new "Kings Island" wordmark style/font on the Plinko board. It reminds me of classic KI and PKI logos. I'm wondering it's a new park logo or is just stylized for Banshee promotional material.
  10. Labor Day (Monday) will definitely have lighter crowds than Saturday or Sunday. It's somewhat likely that I will be at an amusement park that day, but I have no idea which one. (Probably not KI, since I'll be there on the 8th for the KICentral birthday bash event.) Last year, I was at Holiday World, where all 3 woodies and both water coasters had minimal waits.
  11. ^ KI has a sign outside the Troika calling it Shake, Rattle & Roll.
  12. If the Timberliners were indeed too light to complete the circuit, there may not have been a fix for those. The bad news is that management apparently decided to abandon the replacement project, when the major goal was to reduce excessive wear and tear on the track. Granted, none of us know the reasoning behind the decision or what the long-term plan is now. Hopefully there's not another maintenance situation like The Freedom Train's.
  13. As mentioned in other threads, they also seem hesitant to run both (PTC) trains on The Voyage. Bad news, indeed.
  14. ^ Make sure to give KICentral members a good scare when you see any.
  15. I went on Wednesday the week before Labor Day last year. That's the last week before Michigan schools go into session, and the weather was great, so the park ended up being rather crowded. Unless the park is truly dead, Maverick and Millennium Force will still have a decently long wait.
  16. ^ Also, scare zones would become even more crowded if people were forced into them. Fog and scare-actors aren't good for moving crowds. The thing I'm really looking forward to this year is Ed Alonzo's show. And just to think, two years ago, midgets were bleeding. (I was actually planning to visit KI for Haunt one of those years, until I saw details about that particular show.)
  17. Yet people still climb 6 stories of stairs to ride Mondo Monsoon. (ProSlide Tornado)
  18. ^ The park has an obligation to follow manufacturer recommendations. You have an obligation to follow posted safety instructions. Signs on most roller coasters indicate that you must keep your arms/legs "inside" the ride vehicle.
  19. Verizon's coverage works great inside Flight of Fear. Standing in line there, it's easy to tell who has which carrier.
  20. ^ You and CP&LERR Fan should meet up and ride the train.
  21. Somehow, I've used all 3 major carriers at the park this season. (I have multiple devices, and I switched carriers on one.) Sprint has decent wimax speeds in some areas of the park, but it's hard to get a signal. Sprint CDMA service is rather terrible at KI, and LTE isn't rolled out there yet. Verizon's coverage is great all-around. I've had no problems with their (LTE or CDMA) service anywhere in the park. AT&T also has good LTE and GSM coverage at the park now, but it doesn't work at all inside Flight of Fear.
  22. ^ There's a dedicated thread for tomorrow: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27909-august-15-kings-island-trip It looks like CP&LERR Fan and homestar92 will be there.
  23. Since they're distinguishing resort properties from non-resort properties, perhaps it's time to acknowledge this with season pass tiers. A gold pass from a non-resort property could be honored at other non-resort properties, for example. For people in many markets, the current platinum pass is a terrible value. (when compared to other season pass tiers)
  24. ^ There's this website that serves as a compendium of human knowledge, and it's particularly helpful with unfamiliar and weird subjects. Perhaps you've heard of it. EDIT: Beat by seconds
