  1. Try the workaround I posted in the Site Update thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26831-site-update/#entry496165 To view the page source on your iphone, necessary to get the proper URL, use this bookmarklet: http://osxdaily.com/2012/03/30/view-source-safari-ipad-iphone/ After you put together the URL and visit it, IPB will change back to the desktop interface.
  2. ^ SSN is social security number. If you're a US citizen or a US permanent resident, you definitely have one. You should find out what it is, then memorize it. You will need this for job applications, credit applications, and tax forms. (Do be careful how you give it out, since it can be used by identity thieves.)

    Beast Buzz

Looks like CoasterBuzz is interested again. From their Twitter account: And KingsIslandPR's reply: We should start thinking about dates and logistics for our own meet-up(s) next year.
  4. ^ Yes. That post deserves more than two "like" votes. While the park certainly values its enthusiasts, we're not the market FUN needs to understand. Designing things for your biggest fans generally isn't a way to grow your business. (i.e. Most people here already visit the park and are very likely to continue doing so.) That said, it's quite certain that "we'll" be pleased along the way - thrills connect, after all. Enthusiasts should also want investments that grow revenue, since capital expenditures are roughly tied to a percentage. I do wonder how much amusement (or frustration) management gets out of "suggestions" that get posted in threads like this. (Which almost certainly aren't the right use of resources even if we were the target audience.)
  5. These are supposed to be photos that you took, not ones you found posted online. That photo is from http://www.negative-g.com/KingsIsland/KingsIsland2010/Kings-Island-2010-9.htm.
  6. jcgoble3 is keeping us from slacking off. I knew some of The Beast tour pictures might come in handy: Easy: International Restaurant interior Hard: People getting soaked on the Congo Falls bridge
  7. That would be silly. It is not old, is currently serving a valuable purpose, and is not in the way of anything. The fate of this building has already been discussed ad nauseam in many threads, including: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26117-the-crypt-being-demolished/ http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25815-the-crypt-building/ http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26212-the-crypts-future/ http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/24734-the-crypt-gone-for-2012/
  8. Chrome or Firefox are almost always better options for browsing than Internet Explorer. I work in IT at my University and IE 6, 7, 8, and 9 are my worst enemies. No matter which browser you use, clearing your cache is likely to fix missing images and broken richtext editor buttons. I posted instructions for all major browsers, including mobile, in reply #13. Switching to another browser would have the same effect, but you don't need to. (I have plenty of dislike for IE too. I'd prefer that everyone use Firefox, but all major browsers are pretty good with web standards nowadays. It comes down to privacy, performance, and choice of features/add-ons.) I sent him a PM the other day with the information I found about the mobile site problem, but it looks like he hasn't got it yet. Until it's fixed, you can do the workaround as long as your browser supports viewing the page's HTML source.
  9. ^^^^^ Thanks for that great summary! Did they start doing this this year at CP or something? (I've never been to Halloweekends.) I really dislike the idea of upcharge haunts... Hope this isn't the new trend. Or are they talking about the fact that Haunt isn't included with the standard pass? Their upcharge Haunt this season intended for mature audiences only. It was intended as a more "extreme" Haunt, with greater interaction between scaractors and guests. This severely limits capacity, so groups had to reserve a time for a cost of $60/group. For information on what that was like, there are plenty of reviews: http://www.ocregister.com/entertainment/trapped-374964-maze-room.html I'd be excited to see such an attraction at KI's Haunt. There are a lot of things they could do with this that just aren't possible in a standard, high-capacity Haunt, such as actors touching guests or being asked to eat something disgusting. Assuming you can get into a group of 6, $10 per person isn't bad.
  10. Did you try the complex workaround I posted in reply #20? Doing this got me out of mobile mode, after I stuck myself in it while testing.
  11. It's ok, I got a picture of one of yours: Hard: The pay-to-soak geyser stations on WWC Easy: Another KICentral member
  12. ^ Found it: The comment was from Rocky Mountain Construction, not Gravity Group. Both of them are doing similar inversions with wood supports, so the same reasoning would seem to apply. It's good to avoid misquoting or misattributing quotes, especially when the people quoted aren't on the forum to correct us!
  13. ^ I recall seeing that in a video as well, but I can't find it either. I'm pretty sure the reasoning was that vertical forces are much lower in a corkscrew than in a vertical loop.
  14. ^ A 35% increase in e-commerce sales seems to validate the decision to switch, regardless of the problems. Accesso offers an API designed for building a secure non-Flash e-commerce frontend, but neither Cedar Fair, Six Flags, Palace Entertainment, nor the Columbus Zoo have elected to spend the extra resources to incorporate this. It's much easier to slap a pre-built Flash store on top of the park's homepage than to incorporate a store frontend into the site itself. I actually contacted people at 3 of those companies about issues relating to the Flash store when Accesso was rolling them out. I got a response from one acknowledging my frustrations and the possibility to fix them. However, there didn't seem to be much of a desire to expend significant resources to change what has unfortunately become an "industry standard". Those of us who care about using non-Flash systems to place orders, and about web security and accessibility, are perhaps a minority that doesn't impact the parks' bottom lines. As I've said before, a convenient side effect of effectively blocking mobile devices is the protection of full-price gate ticket revenue. (More than a few people might see the $55 price at the gate and pull out their phones to quickly buy $35 tickets.) If you're the CFO and an outsourced Flash store is pulling 35% more revenue than your previous in-house web-based store, do you authorize money for building a new web-based interface in-house? By the way, it should be noted that systems with outdated SSL certificates installed in their operating system are blocked from the Accesso store with a cryptic error message. This happens when OS updates (Windows Update, Apple Software Update, Linux package managers) aren't installed. If you get a numerical error, update your system.
  15. It looks funny, but it all turns out fine as soon as you post. If you're having a problem typing a response after the quote, a workaround is to press the "lightswitch" button in the editor to edit in BB Code instead of rich text.
  16. I just tested this by switching to the mobile version on my desktop computer. The "full version" button fails to work, and clearing both cache and cookies didn't switch it back either. According to the IPB bug tracker, fixing this requires the site owner to submit a ticket to IPB support: http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/bugs.html/_/ip-board/cannot-switch-to-full-version-from-mobile-r36558 For what it's worth, here's the way-too-complex workaround I figured out to fix it: 1. Go to the forum community homepage 2. View the page source 3. Search for the line containing 'base_url' 4. Make a note of the URL, starting with http:// and ending with a random alphanumeric string. 5. Search for the line containing 'secure_hash' 6. Make a note of the hash, consisting of another random alphanumeric string 7. Concatenate the following three strings (A, B, C): A) the URL from step 4 Β) this exactly: app=core&module=ajax&section=skin&do=change&skinId=1&secure_key= C) the string from step 6 8. Visit the URL that is the combination of all 3 strings. You should have the full version back. EDIT: Β) was apparently a smiley. Fixed it. I understand that doing this from your iOS device could be tricky, but at least you can get it working on your desktop until a real fix happens.
  17. Anyone having problems with malfunctioning features, missing pictures, or other oddities should clear the browser cache. After a website application upgrade, this can be required if caches weren't properly invalidated on the server end. Here are instructions: Firefox: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache IE: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260897 Safari: http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/safari/ Chrome: http://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=95582 iPad (Safari): http://www.griffintechnology.com/blog/tips-and-tricks/how-to-clear-your-ipad-cache-cookies-and-history/ Android: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/5663/android-how-to-clear-browser-cache-history-form-data-andor-cookies/ If you're still having problems, you may have to delete cookies, reset site-specific privacy settings, or reset your filtering/anti-virus software.
  18. ^^ Chances are, you were asked for your ID. If you were under 21, it would be obvious from the ID.
  19. That may or may not work, since the big carriers generally don't provide their email<->SMS gateways to MVNOs. Thus, sending an email to tracfonenumber@vtext.com wouldn't necessarily work, even if it's operating on Verizon's network. In any case, try it and see.
  20. Most likely, there's no free web/email<->SMS gateway for tracfone, meaning there's no way to get messages to your phone without paying for the privilege. Since the service used for this text messaging group is free, it simply doesn't work for that provider. This service hasn't been used in awhile, so you're not currently missing anything.

    Beast Buzz

A big enthusiast event should definitely happen at KI again. It's great that the park (or at least Don) is apparently interested in it! Perhaps KICentral could even be involved - PointBuzz/CoasterBuzz shouldn't get all the fun! After all, we're perhaps the biggest group of fans of KI specifically. In any case, add me to the list of people who would be interested in attending. By the way, I didn't get a chance to ask Ryan this on closing day: why has KICentral never launched a "coaster club"?
  22. After you type out a post, click "More Reply Options" to preview it before posting. That way, you can see if everything looks right in advance. For the record, the "BB code" to type for an image is [img]http://link-to-image.jpg[/img] - but you should be using the image toolbar button in the post editor to avoid having to type this out. The forum software enforces that all image links end in a proper file extension like jpg, jpeg, gif, etc. This means that image sites with image URL's in an alternate form will not work on KICentral for direct posting. Pick another image site if this is happening to you. EDIT: 100% recycled bits!
  23. TombRaiderFTW was nice enough to write a guide on how to post photos: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/26752-tutorial-how-to-upload-photos/ To make it work, you have to use the direct link to the image, not the link to the page containing the picture. There's an example in the guide above.
  24. If you want to get soaked, try yelling at the tower. I'm sure the operator would be more than happy to oblige, but you'll certainly draw ire of anyone in your boat hoping to remain dry. I recall getting an extremely thorough drenching from one of the towers (back when there were two), after yelling up asking to not get wet.
  25. ^ Click the "Report" button at the bottom of the private message, just like you would at the bottom of an inappropriate forum topic reply.
