  1. Ugh, I wish any given spot in Hamilton County was only 20 minutes from KI. My commute from my home in Hamilton County to KI is 40-45 minutes each way. And you can still get farther away without leaving Hamilton County.
  2. I've never been able to care too much for Haunt (or Halloween itself), but I've never been to a winterfest and love christmas, so I can not wait for Winterfest. During the off-season I honestly couldn't even decide if I was more excited for Mystic or Winterfest.
  3. Yes, you will need your own towel for the water park. You could put it in a locker or if you don't feel like spending money on that you could also easily run it back out to your car.
  4. I wanted to enter, but I work for Cedar Fair. Pros and cons, lol. I hope you win, though!
  5. I noticed that construction yesterday as well. I also feel confident in an assumption that it is for Winterfest. Maybe the Crafter's Village?
  6. I mean, I'd be excited if it were me. Heck, I'm excited for them. I though all enthusiasts want evacs?
  7. I'm trying to figure out if that is three new coasters or four. You've got the two RMC at CP/KD, but then there's "a completely new type of coaster...and a renewed relationship with a manufacturer." Is that two coasters? Is it one coaster and one non-coaster? Or is it the same coaster altogether? Either way, it seems more likely Knott's new attraction will be a coaster. If there's a fourth, I'm thinking either Wonderland or CGA.
  8. When we went last summer Woodstock Express went down while we were in line. Rather than leave the area, my mom suggested we ride Peanuts Pirates. I was skeptical as it seems like such a kiddie ride, but it was actually a lot of fun. And by 'we' I mean my 19 year old self, my 17 year old brother, my 21 year old sister, and my 51 year old dad. So, yea, give it a shot because it's certainly not just a kiddie ride. We all enjoyed it. I'd also echo Sythe's comments about hype. Going down I felt like a lot of people said it's an awesome park. Sure, it's not bad, but I personally feel CP, KI, an
  9. Wow @mikejenkins1! Thanks for sharing. Awesome find. That picture of The Racer on the front kills me. I'd love for those colors to return.
  10. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/297096906642937192/ I can't confirm whether or not this was used as the logo, but it is how it looked from the midway.
  11. Hearing Mystic will be open doesn't surprise me one bit. I've been suspecting it for a while. I have the same feeling about The Beast possibly being open and to a slightly lesser degree for Racer.
  12. Just add [spo iler] in front of what you want to hide and [/spo iler] after what you want to hide. And do it without the space in between the o and i. I had to do that so you could see the code.
  13. Wow great trip report. Sounds like you had an awesome day.
  14. I find that article kind of laughable. One, I don't think anyone from KI actually has been saying "wooden coaster capital of the world." They then accuse CP of falsely claiming the title of "roller coaster capital of the world", but there's no rules. No one says you have to have the most of something to use such a phrase. They even bothered to state KI is going for wooden coaster capital because they can't touch the SFMM record. Though I highly doubt anyone from KI even thought to go after SIX when trying to decide what to build next. It seems like that author might as well work for SIX.
  15. Looking at the webcam and seeing the long line of passholders already lined up for Mystic Timbers and knowing I already rode it seven times last night with basically no line gives me such an awesome feeling. It looks like they actually have the line going behind and then through the Crypt building.
  16. I got seven rides in last night in seven different seats and every single one was unbelievable. The ride truly is relentless from start to finish. The airtime never lets up and the directional changes really throw you around, particularly in the stretch just before the turnaround tunnel. My first ride was in the back row and I expected it to be the best, but boy was I wrong. The airtime is just as strong in every other seat. In fact, the front is actually my favorite due to still getting the airtime plus feeling the speed as the air rushed past my face, forcing me to put a hand down so I
  17. I know they had fireworks at the pass preview night last year. I couldn't say for sure whether they'll do it again this year, but I don't see why not. You could probably find someone to ask once you get there.
  18. Doesn't bother me at all. I never viewed it as a first rider auction. I only thought of it as raising money to get to ride it before the passholders and general public. And what IndyGuy4KI said above.
  19. I'm bringing this post by @Bansheeback over from the now closed construction thread: I'll be there alone as well; however, I'll be late as I have lab here at UC until 5:30. I just hope to be able to grab some dinner before the rides actually start at 7. I'm also definitely planning on saying hi if I recognize anyone from photos on this site and recommend you do the same. I've heard they're all very friendly.
  20. The above comments are definitely exciting. Although, I'm going to withhold on watching the pov myself until I ride tomorrow. I don't want to know exactly what to expect, it'll take away some of the fun.
  21. After seeing your post, I just spent the last 20 minutes watching both webcams, but still don't see anything I could confidently call headlights. It seems more likely you're just seeing the reflection of the stationary lights on the front of the train. Hence, they 'go off' on the lift, since the stationary lights go away. I shall see for myself in just 47 hours. Edit to add that this is one of those situations where I'd much rather be wrong than right.
  22. I watched one of the test runs just now. It is pitch black out and easy to see the trains have no headlights even on the lift. The only lights are the stationary lights going up the lift hill.
  23. I'd agree with the above, but in my case I'd extend it to the whole ride being quite dull. I did it several years ago after getting the ticket for five dollars first thing in the morning. The initial launch left me thinking,"Oh, neat." Then the rest of the ride, "I feel like I'm on a shorter Eiffel Tower that happens to be bobbing up and down." I would only ride it again if I got the ticket for five dollars and I was with someone who had never ridden it. So in your case, get the ticket as soon as you get to the park for hopefully $5, then ride and decide if you think it is worth it.
  24. If you look at the caption, you'll see they credit Kings Island.
  25. Per this tweet, the gates should open at 2:30 on Friday.
