  1. I can't believe I never thought of that. I had always envisioned a hypothetical path going around FoF squeezing between Flight of Fear, Firehawk, and Adventure Express. Your route is obviously far more feasible. In regards to the topography, based on views from AE and The Racer, I believe that route would actually be relatively flat. Plus, it's already clear of trees, so why not? We could even finally get that auspicious X-Base restroom! Edit: Just noticed that satellite image shows the Coney Mall arch.
  2. It wouldn't upset the park. The fence isn't hiding anything. It's just there to keep guests out at this point. Even when MT wasn't announced yet, it wasn't hiding anything as the train gives the better view.
  3. I can't answer the poll since I've never experienced a B&M flyer, but I do love the current ride experience offered by Firehawk. The loud lift, while annoying, is easily made up for by the rest of the ride. Specifically, the loop is the best loop I've experienced out of the 5 parks I've been to. The only thing that keeps me from riding it more often is the poor capacity.
  4. I just saw that on Twitter and was going to post it. I wonder if its permanent or just for Haunt. Interesting that stand has now gone from Snake Pit to Rivertown Hotdogs to Tom+Chee all within one season.
  5. I wouldn't say there's no reason for an institution/person to write a letter or even boycott something they don't like. I just find it ridiculous that Cedar Fair and other companies keep giving in. As bkroz said, haunted houses are meant to play on things that make people feel uncomfortable. I feel sick thinking about what that father had to go through with his son, but that's not a reason to take something at a Halloween horror event and make it personal. I have a mentally disabled cousin living in a home for it and yet the thought of this house doesn't bother me at all. It's fictional, not a documentary. Unfortunately, with the society we live in today people are destined to complain about everything. However, what would be left of society if everything that was complained about was shut down? These companies need to quit giving in.
  6. ^ Fantastic picture there and on your blog as well of the progress so far. I hadn't seen some of those views yet. As far the drop track, ever since the announcement I've been against the idea that drop track is in the shed, but I guess that's even more reason for it not to be drop track.
  7. Merlin has been fined 5 million pounds (6.6 million USD): http://www.marketwatch.com/story/merlin-fined-5-million-over-roller-coaster-crash-2016-09-27
  8. Liseberg has announced that the Intamin made Kanonen will be removed and replaced by... A B&M Dive Machine. Called Valkyria, it will open in 2018. https://rcdb.com/14301.htm Is this the first instance of an Intamin coaster being replaced by a B&M? Interesting too to note that their 2017 addition is an Intamin Gyro Swing. http://liseberg.com/en/home/Amusement-Park/News-2017-2018/ http://liseberg.com/en/home/Footer/Press-Releases/Legendary-investments-at-Liseberg-20172018/
  9. Carowinds and Kings Dominion also now use the sheet style maps. Cedar Point's is still foldable, though. I don't know what version other Cedar Fair parks use.
  10. I'm still confident the new Mean Streak will open in 2018, hopefully with a new and original name and theme. When the announcement will be is what intrigues me. Currently I'm thinking they'll wait until the park reopens in May and do it then or early June before the new layout can start being figured out by the enthusiasts.
  11. After going to take another look at the tower cam it actually shows the majority of the clearing all the way back to the unused station. You can even make out the wood that's being stored there.
  12. I was thinking they could hook one up to the train house. Not sure it'd be the best view, but there's certainly power in there. Regardless, the cam atop the Eiffel Tower offers a nice angle, albeit distant, that shows a bit further back into the woods.
  13. Also, KI coasters have moved up the lists as Diamondback is the #9 steel coaster and Beast is the #6 wooden coaster in the GTA world rankings.
  14. I remembered seeing a crane for Renegade construction on Build it Bigger so I scoured the web for you: https://www.google.com/search?q=build+it+bigger+renegade&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=619&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwivy6GS8_3OAhVE7R4KHRVJDNsQ_AUICCgD#imgrc=GV69TJVE5GzUOM%3A The site that picture was posted to is apparently dead, so I find it odd the picture still shows up on Google.
  15. I would expect to see a small crane at some point for the lift. It may be "only 109 feet," but there aren't many fork lifts out there that can reach that height. Even if they just use a big fork lift for the top, I doubt they keep that one on site for the rest of the track.
  16. 1. John is the CEO of the company such as Greg Scheid is the GM of Kings Island. Greg is NOT a public speaker AT ALL, but with announcements like these one needs to expect them to make a speech. 2. You do realize CF does the SAME thing! Yes, Cedar Fair does it too. I never said they didn't. However, the level at which CF does it is no where close to the level SF does. See: *major attractions only, excluding water parks Six Flags Multiple Attractions: Batman:The Ride (in 6 parks / 7 under including alternative name) The Joker (will be in 4 parks / 5 including alternative name) SkyScreamer (in 8 parks / will be 10 including alternative names) Battle for Metropolis (will be in 7 parks) Pandemonium (in 4 parks) Superman: Ultimate Flight (in 3 parks) Goliath (name used in 6 parks) Viper (name used in 2 parks) Medusa (name used in 2 parks) Ninja (name used in 2 parks Boomerang (name used in 3 parks) Apocalypse (name used in 2 parks) Cedar Fair Multiple Attractions: WindSeeker (in 5 parks / 6 including alternative name) Dinosaurs Alive! (in 8 parks) Delirium (in 2 parks) Power Tower (in 2 parks) Vortex (name used in 3 parks) The Bat (name used in 2 parks) SkyHawk (name used in 2 parks) Leftover From Paramount: *Flight of Fear (in 2 parks) *Ricochet (in 2 parks) *Hurler (in 2 parks) Leftover From Paramount But Renamed: *Flight Deck (name used in 2 parks) *Boo Blasters on Boo Hill (in 4 parks) *Backlot Stunt Coaster (in 3 parks) *Drop Tower: Scream Zone (in 5 parks) As you can see Six Flags Multiple Attractions significantly outnumbers Cedar Fair. The only way to compare them is if you include all the duplicates CF acquired in 2006 from Paramount. Also, Cedar Fair's last duplicate was 2013, while Six Flags is still installing duplicates as of 2017.
  17. This year renewals get one free FL in the fall and a free bring a friend ticket; both usable on Sundays this fall. I haven't seen anything about a preview night, though.
  18. 1. John Duffy is not the announcement type. 2. I realize this is Six Flags and I shouldn't expect too much originality, but is it ever going to end? Even if they want each park to have a freespin or a Sally dark ride, why can't they change up the themes a bit? What's the purpose of the same exact thing in every park? At least the new Starflyer and pendulums have different names. 3. I've thought this for years, but I wish Six Flags would let each park announce their own attractions like Cedar Fair does. They can still have them all on the Thursday before Labor Day, just separate. It'd allow for much more personality, originality, and excitement. These dull, under five minute announcement videos for thirteen unique parks just don't cut it. Sorry for the rant. I just want to see more from SIX, which is kind of strange I guess considering I've never even been to one of their parks.
  19. I agree with a lot of the names mentioned so far, but I'd like to specifically second the nominations of malem and The Interpreter. Although, the way I read Terp through his posts, I'm not sure he'd be interested. I could be (and hopefully am) wrong, though.
  20. There was a short discussion on that topic last page. Here's my thoughts: it appears that way. i think they'll build a walkway over the tracks. I don't think we've seen enough to truly let us know yet. When I look at the rendering two things stand out to me. The first is that the brake run, shed, and station are all high off the ground as if to make room for the train to pass below. The second is that those three elements stick off from the rest of the layout as if to fit into the former funnel cake location. Due to these observations, I'm of the belief the queue and exit won't cross the tracks. I predict the tracks will end up behind the station, but in front of the shed. Again though, I don't think we've seen enough to know for sure. The Banshee rendering revealed much more about the plaza than MT's has. At the moment; however, I feel pretty confident in my above prediction.
  21. It is also worth noting that in addition to Backwoods Bayou moving locations, it is becoming a maze. Last year, unless I'm mistaken, I believe it was a scare zone.
  22. Dang, what's with Canada getting all the cool and unique flat rides. First Skyhawk, now this.

  24. I feel bad for them, but then again, I guess you could call me biased towards my local zoo.
