  1. I was dying laughing at a lot of these posts. I assumed it was not true. I'm no where near as savvy as most of you when it comes to coasters and the workings of them all

Don't let the haters get you down, it was a legitimate post. However, just be aware that the typical ride associate at that level isn't involved in any major capital expenditure decision making or given any real privileged information such as that.

    Welcome to KIC!

I actually figured it wasn't true...I just wanted to know for sure. The guy was not too reputable-a-character. I was wondering why in the Hell they would release that information to the bottom of the corporate chain and not to the adoring public.

  2. On a trip on the 17th, Jasper and I discussed how Flight Deck could use a little TLC. After seeing this pic he pointed them out to me on our closing day trip. They appear to have paint droplets caked on them. I really hope they're giving it an nice ole "Ice-Cream paint job," as the kids say these days.

  3. I was dying laughing at a lot of these posts. I assumed it was not true. I'm no where near as savvy as most of you when it comes to coasters and the workings of them all, but like I told Jasper on the loooooooooooooong ride home yesterday, I find it VERY hard to believe that they could get a new ride on back-to-back years. Where in the hell would that money come from??? I mean, WindSeeker can't be terribly expensive, but still...

  4. Jasper and I were waiting in line to ride Slingshot yesterday and overheard a patron having a conversation about SOB with a Kings Island employee. The employee stated that SOB was going to be torn down and in it's place, there was going to be an "enormous steel coaster" constructed for the 40th anniversary in 2012. I find that hard to believe with the given financial standing. Has anyone heard anything similar from a source a little more reliable than that guy???

  5. I was there that day too. We made The Beast our last ride of the night and waited in all the turnstalls and partially out of the station...By the time we got off, the line had backed all the way down The Beast's isolated walkway and wrapped around the game building...

  6. In Kings Island last Saturday, the 9th, there were 40,000 plus people there. I could not imagine walking around in a park with 60,000 on hand. That many people almost brings the park down to a level of not being fun anymore, however, I enjoy Kings Island or Cedar Point no matter what the crowds because honestly, it's not about the rides you get to ride or not ride, it's about who you are with and the memories you make. Last week I waited an hour and fifteen minutes for Drop Tower, I could have by passed it because of the long line, sure, but my mentality is this, you are going to have to wait in line no matter where you go, so why not wait for something you love to ride. Business is business and the parks love and live for these type days where big crowds are brought out to enjoy the park. We cannot sit here and point fingers at them and say, "You only come because of Haunt! Do you even like riding the coasters?" Sometimes it can be hard in a big environment with a lot of people to have fun, but when your at an amusement park, make the best out of a bad situation. I even some times look at it this way, how many people back home that love Kings Island can say they have been here on a day like today, I waited through all the turnstials on The Beast and it was still out onto the midway, but you know what, it was one of the best rides I have ever had on that coaster. Bottom line is, enjoy it, no matter the crowds, because when off-season hits us, you will be wishing you had days to still go to the park. (Jasper, steps down off of soap box.)

It's days like the 9th that make days like the 17th so amazing...

  7. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Though I don't know near as much about the coaster industry as most of y'all, I do know it would be a DUMB business decision to cancel it. Have you seen the crowds for the Haunt?!?!?!?! That's just all money in CF pocket...at least, I pray they don't discontinue it. I got my first dose of the Haunt this year and it blew my mind! It combines three of my favorite things...KI, Halloween, and horror (not to mention beaucoups of Rob Zombie blaring through the park). I don't mean to be rude but if you don't like it, no one's forcing you to stay after 7, and Kings Island does a pretty good job warning about the graphic and provocative images. However, the idiot high school, drunken, stoned, moronic crowd that often comes with it needs to be controlled. We left the park relatively early two weekends ago only to find many circles of kids passing what I assume was not full of tobacco. Hell, they don't even need the fog machines, just scatter the stoners around the park. Lol.

  8. Last year I did not get to go to the Haunt but we went very late in September and some of the decorations were already up. I remember getting an odd feeling coming up the walkway, looking at the back of the gravestones that were where the bush clock normally is. Sure enough, we turn the corner, and the headstone where the "III" on the clock is, says, "Dalton" (my last name). I FULLY regret not taking a picture with it. I don't know if they re-use the props year-to-year, but if anyone happens to know where this one is located this year please point it out for me so I can get a pic!

  9. Being new to this site this is my first trip report. My buddy (better known on here as Jasper...I believe) and I took a trip to Holiday World last Saturday. Their three coasters, all of wood, were exceptional. The Legend, the middle of the three in size and length, was a disappointment but fun none the less. The world famous Raven was AMAZING. Looking at it I didn't expect much and wondered how it had held it's title from 2000-2003. Once I rode it...I knew why. I am a HUGE Beast fan and this is in the same class. Helluva ride. The ride of the day, no doubt, was The Voyage. It undoubtedly lives up to the title of Best Wooden Coaster on the Planet. As I mentioned earlier...HUGE Beast fan, it's my roots, what I was raised on. This ride gave me a new perspective on Wooden coasters. As much as it pains me to say it...It blew The Beast away (during daylight at least). It's 90 degree banked turns were, in lack of better words, a mind-f***. I'd have to say my favorite part of the ride was the underground, tunneled triple down. If you are a coaster enthusiast, which I assume everyone on this site is, and haven't ridden this amazing, wooden God, I recommend fueling up your respective automobile and heading in the direction of Santa Claus, Indiana. In other news, the park as a whole is mainly based around the waterpark and it was evident. The only water ride we rode was the monstrous construction of steel they call Pilgrims Plunge. I had never felt so intimidated by a ride in my life! It's 165 foot drop, however, was far from the climax of the ride. The most thrilling part is the elevator ride to the top, tilting when the track expands. After the plunge, you skid on top of the water a good 60 ft til you hit a WALL of water that absolutely drenched me. I was wet for the rest of the day and well after we left the park. The only other notable ride is Liberty Launch. Another underestimated experience. Though small in stature, the overpowered hydraulics more than make up for it's height. at the top I was flung in the air so hard I darn near hurt my shoulder hitting the restraint a good 4 inches. At the begining of the day the lines were slightly overwhelming but the masses seem to funnel towards Splashin' Safari just after noon. I am still more than partial to Kings Island over this park but there is something to be said for free drinks. ;) (incase the right person is reading) Like all other experiences, it can be made better by the people you go with. I would like to thank Jasper and his family for inviting me to share in the fun.
