  1. I am guessing they will lay pavers in the circle to start the linking process between other parts of the park. I am sure like most things KI does, it will look great.
  2. What was the building used for Slaughter House built for? I see it as a haunted attraction for years but what was it built for originally? Starting to see more buildings being used for haunt and nothing else. Could be a great place for arcade or a Chaos Room type setting. Xbox on 200 inch screens etc. Low dollar investment but another air conditioned hid out between rides.
  3. Ask and you shall receive a spotty rendering of this. BansheeOld by Diamondbacker, on Flickr You the man, Thank you
  4. Hey guys, I was wondering if someone would be able to post a progress picture of Banshee with a screenshot at same angle of SOB. I would love to have a reference on how it looks in size and configuration. I am sure someone on here is just that good to make this request come true. Thank you p.s. the answer YES someone could is not necessary.
  5. So much talk about repainting FD, didn't they just paint it in 2010? Little to early for a repaint, but wouldn't it be cool if they were to add realistic flames to simulate rides on fire. That would allow paint coverage on parts that may need it without painting the whole ride. Bat on fire would be a neat theme and as for the bottom area I still see it as a break area for ride ops or even sitting area with snack from vending.
  6. I see it now, Scare Zone. Inveritgo, Banshee and even Delirium would work well in that type of theme. Now for The Bat or FD whatever they will call it may not take much to modify. FD got painted Grey not too long ago so spruce up the cars a bit and we are a go. As for the donwstairs portion on the ride I think we will see increased and modified storage or even break area. I can see a more direct route from sidewalk to ride base with less stairs being done, and I am sure Banshee's lines will extend that direction like SOB.
  7. Why is it that KI does not have a top fuel dragster type coaster? I am sure it is expensive but pretty straight forward up and back could go many places.
  8. Just wondering, after looking at the footers and listening to all the conversations about what will be on the former SOB site I have a question. Could we really be looking at a small ride not a roller coaster, I see the footers but only in teh area by Sling Shot. I mean I look at the possibilities but a new flat maybe the most likely answer, I mean doesn't HUSS kinda owe CF for the WindSeeker debocal. I can see a series of these rides like JUMP 2, FlyAway, maybe a Large farris wheel. I see footers but even these rides require footing before final concrete pad. Just my thought, maybe that will change once I see footers further out in the fields. Who knows?
  9. Why was Zodiac taken out, I remember being a kid and wanting to ride it and no one else would. Still looks like an exciting ride that would carry lots of people and give a great view of park. Thanks
  10. Maybe if they install a Dip n Dots booth at the half way point to FD then those too tired to make the trek back could stop for a snack. Not to mention we could use their "INSIDER" knowledge to let us know whats happening in the park and future explansions.
  11. May I get a round of applause for DON, clap clap clap. Truely taking ever opportunity to inform the masses and the miss informed. Thank you Don
  12. Can you imagine if they had DA in a building with a flume or boat style ride. Would have kept the dinos in good order being in a building and use of sound and action would have been a great cool (AC) ride for those hot summers.
  13. Hey guys, I was reviewing the Google Map of the park and as always see things hidden from view. Such things like parts, graveyards, junk..... does anyone have close up pictures of these areas and what are being housed there? I am sure most is just old signs or ride parts but I would love to see those items. Google map doesn't get close enough. Thanks Not to mention I would love it if DON could chime in on a back stage tour or these things as well as maybe a insider history of park finds,,, like here lies the base for flight commander or here is the cars for etc. Thanks
  14. I like the explanation from Browntggrr and a few other folks, about why SOB does not just fall down. I appreciate the questions about a rides structure and ability to stand over time without noticeable improvements or maintenance. But to bring to life the face palming, the reason behind it is simple it started with the fact that so many people are interested in answers about topics that don't necessarily have answers yet. And when you ask these questions time and time again without reading the thread first this can cause the face palm. But my favorite is when those who call themselves enthusiasts can be condescending and have you question why you even join the thread at all. Stay informed before you post and stay positive even when surrounded by pessimists. I too and very excited about the possibility of getting the scoop on what will become of the big pile of wood.
  15. I wonder, new paint job mean could be up for sale? I like the ride but it has been around awhile and such a short ride experience. Maybe ????
  16. I agree with the statements above, and very well said by the way. I think that everyone all over the country is trying to push for revenue generating projects. Some may be good some not so good, KK has proven time and again that it is not worth the effort. If the state is going to approve money for the other family destination with an ARCH then how can they see putting anything into KK. Louisville is a strange place for business and if you can't make it work in over 10 years then you must realize nothing will change in the next ten.
  17. Hey all, I was on the Facebook page for Kings Island and watched a video called Kings Island 2012. And as if we needed any other reason to talk about SOB, there it was on the 1:06 mark SOB with the LOOP. Now either we have a very energetic person putting together the film trying to start rumors or someone needs to change the SOB image. Take a look for yourself.
  18. Has anyone gone on to Google Earth or some other map site and checked for new satellite photos? I checked with my old version and it dated back to a picture before they even started WindSeeker. I wonder if there are new shots that could show work being done on SOB or anywhere in the park. I am sure there are smarter people here that can check on this....
  19. I like the thought of Peanuts being at KI, can't really call them regional characters but they lend an air of nostalgia. I think about Peanuts and I remember watching them on TV during holidays. But as a kid I see them as great treats related directly to KI and as a kid it doesn't need to be much bigger than that. The characters NICK creates are mostly geared toward an audience that is likely riding the Diamond Back or holding hands with a pimply faced partner acting as cool as possible walking around the park. Yes NICK may be main stream for many but as a parent that wants my kids to stay a kid for as long as possible, I love it when they say can we go see the Flying Dog, or that big headed boy with the zig zag on his shirt. That is cool and I am glad we save the money, maybe we can use it to make more theming for the park to create the whole experience. Thank you
  20. I have mentioned this before but I would like to put it out there again. I was riding The Beast this Saturday night around 11 pm very dark out and I love it, wiping through the woods in The Beast at night. I would love to see KI embrace the ghost stories of KI, Tower Johnny etc. Maybe a illuminated ghost projected in the trees at the second hill. A slow and vulnerable part of the ride, for that matter a few projections in various parts of the park. Not always on just every so often, could be made into a sort of scavenger hunt game. ei. where did you see Tower Johnny, did you see so and so at Vortex. Great way to stimulate people between rides. THanks
  21. Not to repeat myself again but I was thinking what would make a great investment to our park and may not require as much time and testing as new crazy rides? Transplanting rides from other parks with new themes and paint. True not everyone will agree with recycling rides from other parks but surely the cost would be lower and the effect on line reduction would be instant. Think about it, T2, Thunder Run, Twisted Twins, many other HUSS flat style rides. Kentucky Kingdom seems to be focusing on reopening the water park side of things and not on the Amusement Park side. Not sure of cost but 15 million for all the rides and recycle them to CF parks I am sure they can decide who gets what based on priority.
  22. This may not be as much theme related but whatever, I wish the International Street was wider like it used to be. Tables are nice but when having to negotiate through there in the night is hard. I love KI and no matter what they do or don't do it is still my home park and love it. Few ideas for theming would be have a cemetery far away from any foot traffic and house the smokers, it is ridiculous to walk my healthy kids in a great kids park area and have them inhale smoke. I mean really if you can't smoke in the parking lot before and after you come then you need help. I went to a cheap little park somewhere as a kid and I found that they would place little pop up creatures, monsters, crazy things that would jump out at you in random areas and on random rides. Just made for a bit or an unexpected surprise that kept the feeling of an older ride new again. Thanks for all the conversation.
  23. I would like to see Kings Island go on down to Kentucky Kingdom and buy the rides sitting there. Not exactly new but with face lift and care it would allow KI to expand into the rear of the park and have lots of new rides for a fraction of the money. Thunder Run (mix with SOB maybe) T2 not a bad coaster new looks who knows, Twisted Twins (The Racers big cousin) I could go on about the smaller rides but think about it. Kids area with many rides catered to the in between age group and height as well as bein stock full of rides could reduce ride waits. What do you think
  24. This picture takes me back to a great time in my life, fear of coasters and the thought that everything was soooooo big. I loved the thrill of not knowing what I was in for until I stepped foot on the ride and experienced it first hand. Love the picture and thanks for restarting my memories.
  25. What is that roller coaster in the background to the left side of ET?
