  1. "Cmdr. Riker, anything new at Kings Island these days?" "Midget wrestling with tazers on the ropes."
  2. ^He's right. Since the evening is just strictly Halloween Haunt, there's just one ticket price for Friday nights available. I've had friends who have had luck with getting coupons from Wendys/Taco Bell etc. to make the night for affordable. You'll want to save money so you can use it in the park. Ringside seats for midget wrestling are only 5 dollars.
  3. Actually, I was moreso referring to those who claimed they rode AE and could see wood rotting. I realize you get close to the ride and I understood your post on how it looks, but taking a ride on AE and claiming to be able to see the structure crumbling sounds a little too far fetched for me.
  4. Really? A collapsing section? I don't see how anyone can make an accurate architectural assessment while riding the roller coaster nearby. Come on people.
  5. Use it to see the Dinos that Cedar Point will make money off of. Also, there seems to be plenty of "suckers" out at King Island who clearly were "suckered" enough into the attraction making enough money that they're expanding it to another park now. Clearly, it's a very little increase in overall revenue. They should've just built a Voyage clone.
  6. Fast Pass has not caused anyone to lose anything. It just creates an option for an added perk. Raptor Guy is a moron. Plain and simple. He has been nothing but an albatross on this site since Cedar Fair took over. First, he took credit for Winterfest coming back. I don't know why he would, that failed. So he blames it on Dick Kinzel. He claims they'd never change The Racer to have both sides forward again. They did. He said he would have that changed. It never changed. He said he'd never ride WindSeeker (but he'd ride Cedar Points) and that he was boycotting it. Now he posts about how he loves it and never said anything like that.d He threw a temper tantrum when they added Dinosaurs Alive. An optional upcharge attraction that he doesn't have to see or even visit, but somehow it's still a problem for him. Shall we even touch on the topic he made claiming Haunt was unsuccessful and morally wrong? He was responsible for planning one ACE event. I showed up and apparently wasn't on the list and was sent home packing. Raptor Guy is the reason there are stereotypes about ACErs who like Gravy in their fanny packs.
  7. Lance is the Nostradamus of Amusement Parks. Extremely vague statements that can be interpreted literally a thousand ways and in the end people may look back and say... "ZOMG NOSTRA DAMUS LANCE WAS RIGHT!" As far as Son of Beast, I don't think they'd start in a spot that has the most trouble or where guests couldn't see, they'd start in wherever makes the best sense for construction. However, it's been pointed out in this thread before what Kinzel said about the Iron Horse treatment. Lets look at something that has been repeated ad nauseum throughout the multitude of SOB threads on this website: - Texas Giant closed in 2009, took the entire 2010 season to be converted and then re-opened in 2011. - Signs of Son of Beast construction showed up early in the 1999 season. - Signs of Diamondback construction showed up early in the 2008 season. What signs are people seeing at Son of Beast? None. The station is now a haunted house. True, it could be taken down quite quickly. Lets not kid ourselves folks, nothing significant is happening to that ride anytime soon, especially for 2012. The writing is on the walls of Wolfpack.
  8. And if it is removed will you be boycotting all water fountains at KI? *Note: He will still enjoy the ones at Cedar Point.
  9. Went to the park today and rode Flight Deck. Anyone notice that on the brake run before the train comes back to the station that they seem to have painted the ground to look like the topside of an aircraft carrier's flight deck? Kind of looks like this: http://images-mediawiki-sites.thefullwiki.org/01/2/8/1/83638494251470715.gif Nice to see that ride getting some love. The landing strip looks really cool if you ride in the front seat.
  10. Who told the Dayton Daily News that he never missed a deadline.
  11. I hope KI puts an American flag on top like how CW put that Canadian flag on theirs.
  12. You're assuming that HUSS did in fact make that recommendation or that the story is correct. There's a lot of people taking liberty with information in this topic and frankly, a lot of it is incorrect.
  13. This topic has gotten heated and I'm pretty surprised no one here as somehow involved rumors about Son of Beast in it or complained about the dinosaurs/ERT. Valid points, but I think THE BEST reasoning as to why someone's not going to be up there hasn't been mentioned yet: Look at the photos of WindSeeker. You can in fact see that there is a door at the bottom of the tower to allow access into its interior. Drop Tower has a similar door. However, how are employees going to access that door when the chair ring is down and blocking it? If the ride is in motion, there's no way they're going to rotate someone into the ride area as it's operating and have them go inside then ascend 300 feet all to do.... what exactly? Drop Tower and other tall rides feature no operators at the top. Eifel Tower does, because it does feature an observation deck and employees are stationed in an attempt to keep people from violating Ohio State law via dropping or spitting. No. It's not.
  14. While that may be somewhat true (there's also a lot of other donations involved from private investors and not just federal grants), this is a wise use a tax dollars. This is a pretty large scale project and hopefully will yield some good research for the future. And even if the zoo turned down the grants, it's not as if that money gets disperssed back to joe the average tax payer, someone else would take it.
  15. Maybe it was a car driving by on the nearby maintenance road and just lit up the area.
  16. Ty. It's been said already, but I'll say it again - excellent work. Are you sure about the 70 lions part though? 70 lions seems like an awful lot of lions. Even so, I never realized the attraction was THAT big. Wonderful read.
  17. It's gonna suck when you're parked at the automobile gate, staring at that T-Rex, waiting for them to let you park so you can get on Diamondback and Beast ERT ASAP. ...Oh, wait.
  18. Come on now brother. Wasn't Diamondback a recycled idea? How many B&M Hypercoasters are out there? Maybe you can go "rogue" and boycott this with Raptorguy as he refrains from riding WindSeeker and Vortex.
  19. haha yeah. And don't forget that the sky is pink and the earth is flat. I bet Friday's announcement is Son of Beast related.
  20. I think the goose is literally just a picture of a goose. A joke about people going on "wild goose chases" in a futile effort to figure out what's being announced. I agree. First off the video says "2011 Teaser," indicating that this has something to do with the coming season. Son of Beast has been sitting dormant for the past two seasons and last year had its station turned into a haunted house. While they could have been feverishly working on it this offseason and we would've never known, I highly doubt it. The coincidence with the date is moot. Why would it be that big of a deal for them to do it exactly one year anyways after they announced it wouldn't be running for the 2010 season? If they were going to announce it, they'd be more concerned with when they can make the news the most times and get the best exposure, not timing it up one year after they announced it wouldn't operate for one specific season. I'm surprised I haven't seen Browntggr post more in this topic, but I think he sums up the SOB situation best: Why keep throwing money at it? It's been nothing but bad publicity for the park and let's be honest folks - that ride kind of sucked to begin with. I enjoyed it when I was younger and it opened and I could take being shaken to death five times a day. But once time went on, the ride was just uncomfortably rough. Even when it re-opened with new trains it was better, but still not that good. On top of that, it's not known throughout the general public for being the tallest and fastest (which is even debatable with El Toro at SFGADV), it's know for .... other things. I think all the SOB enthusiasts better prepare to not see it mentioned in Friday's announcement at all. Seriously, there's nothing in any clue, teaser or hint that indicates Son of Beast. ....except maybe the wild goose picture, cause all those looking into the Son of Beast theory may in fact be on a "Wild Goose Chase." See what I did there?
