  1. Yes, Kennywood is a small park compared to Ceder Point or KI. The coasters ( PHANTOM'S REVENGE, THE EXTERMINATOR, JACK RABBIT, RACER and THUNDERBOLT ) make good use of limited space and the hills and valleys. The 5 coasters are laid out around the edges of the park. It's nice that it's only a 5 minute walk to get from one side of the park to the other. With my first visit to KI being in June, from what I see is a whole lot of wooded areas and space at KI. Watched some Youtube videos of The Beast and can't wait to ride....
  2. We were season ticket holders for many years at the old Geauga Lake Park. The whole experience changed after 6 Flag's bought the place. I don't think they understood the Cleveland market. I think they thought "If they built it, they will come" no matter what it costs.....But they didn't see that NE Ohio lives on smaller earnings than just about anywhere in the country. Where else can you buy a nice 3 bedroom colonial for 60k to 100k in the suburbs. That is why I believe Kennywood / Idlewild does well, because it is very affordable.....period.
  3. Any comparisons between CP, KI and Kennywood. Off The Bat I will say having the right to bring in your picnic lunch inside the park is a big plus.....Kennywood and it's sister park Idlewild in SW. PA. are more for the budget minded famlies......How do others feel about that....."Being able to bring in your our picnic lunch" Here in NE Ohio, we had Geauga Lake Park. It was bought out by 6 Flags which stopped picnic lunches and doubled or tripled it's food prices and charged big $$$ for parking....People stopped coming...Ceder Fair stepped in for a cheap $$$ and bought the place....But could not get the people back.....It ended up closing.....except for the water park. I know at least one of the coasters was moved to KI...?
  4. I knew a little about the SOB and it's problems a few years back. This June will be our first visit. I thought for sure by this season they would get a fix to the problem, and get her back and running. Well, from reading everyone posts and history about the SOB, I see a slow death is in order for the SOB......sad to hear....With Ceder Fair and it's unit shareholder problems in the headlines (At least here in Cleveland) getting the SOB fixed is the least of their problems..... Watching Youtube videos of the SOB it appears to be like the Mean Streak at CP. I do have to admit, I do get banged up riding that one too many times. I'm no spring chicken any more, So The Beast might be the ticket for multiple rides. I remember the last visit to CP and my son and me rode the Mean Streak like 10 times straight because there was no line. I paid the price....Felt like I had just played a game in the NFL with no pads....I was beat to crap....
