  1. I would just like to say, I went to Six Flags Great America this past Monday (June 27th). I thought the park was very clean, and the employees seemed pretty nice. Yes its not a PKI, but every park either be Paramount or Six Flags has it's own thing that makes it what it is. I don't agree with alot of what Six Flags does as a company but I also don't agree alot of what Paramount does.

  2. I've been visiting PKI for a very long time. 1987 was the first year I ever went. I had a season pass from 1988 thru 1999. And I was employeed at PKI from 1999 thru 2001.. Got a Season Pass again for 2002, 2003, and 2004. This is the first year I haven't had a PKI season pass in a very very long time.

  3. Wow!

I actually liked 7th Portal better then Sponge Bob as far as the 3d films go. I was a little disapointed that 7th Portal only lasted 2 seasons. And now Sponge Bob is in it's 3rd season. As far as non 3d films go, I would have to go with Days of Thunder. Too bad it didn't last a little longer when they brought it back last year. But I feel that was the fault of PKI, they did no advertising on it, and it wasn't even listed in the park map. In the map is just said check at theater for what's playing. I bet if PKI would have advertised that Days of Thunder was going to be playing again in Action Theater, more people would have rode.

  4. That sign has been in the que since the ride opened in '93. They used to be fog in the area of the line under the station, the section now closed off. They were also fog that used to come up from under the bottom of the cars in the station as well, when the trains were entering or exiting the station. I'm not sure about the lighting effects though. I don't think they were any.

  5. What I don't understand why did they block off the extra room in the front car of Vortex? Vortex has had that extra room in the nose of the front car for a very long time (87). Must be some kind of saftey reason.

  6. I would suggest either going to IJST first or Action Zone. Whichever you don't first do later in the day. Every ride is worth at least one ride, then go back and rides the ones you like more. Vortex's line moves pretty fast. You have to hit The Beast at night, it's a very fun ride at night. Don't forget about Flight of Fear, depending on the day of the week you visit, this line could be long.

  7. Skyflier is a great ride. It's actually a lot of fun. If you can get a couple of other people to ride with you, it just adds to the experience. I have rode it twice. Once with 2 other people, and once by myself. Riding by yourself is pretty scary cause your up there all by yourself.

  8. I also have to agree. I do not believe SOB is as bad as what most people make it out to be. As long as you don't sit over the wheels, you should get a pretty good ride. I rode once in 2-1 and yes that was a very bad ride. So I normally only ride in the middle of a car, or in 1-1 or 6-3 as those wheel seats or not that bad.

Just like Vortex I don't find Vortex rough either. I guess the roughness on a ride is just everyone's opinion. But also just think about it, anyone thinking they can get on a rollercoaster like SOB and think it's going to be smooth as glass, is crazy anyway. A 218 foot, 78 MPH wooden rollercoaster is not going to be B & M smooth. Besides isn't a coaster suspose to be a little rough?

  9. What I understand is. The only reason the two other Togo Stand-ups are still in operation is because they were built from American steel. I heard King Cobra was bulit from steel from Japan. Also American steel is stronger then the steel from Japan. I do know that King Cobra was the protype, and it was bulit twice. Once in Japen and then again at PKI. I'm not sure if the other 2 have as many problems with them or not, but I know King Cobra had a lot of down time the last few years of operation. It went down almost on a daily basics.

  10. As i'm not really sure what PKI will get in 2006, I would be surprised to see a Nick Central expansion. If they do I also wouldn't be surprised to see the Nick Carwash. It just all kinda add up. Screamscape posts a rumor of a major attraction removed at the end of 2005, and I still predict the Slim Maze and Nick Theater. But time will only tell.

  11. And you know PKI does let the park Guests know of any storms moving thru the area. Both on the QTV's and on the park public address system. And Hello PKI is an outdoor park, so yeah your going to be outside when it storms. Some people.

  12. Suggest an Article

Have an idea for an article you'd like to see in an upcoming edition of the newsletter? Tell us and you could win tickets to the park

Did any of you guys enter this contest? What were some of your ideas?

  13. This was funny, but so true. As we all know most accidents happen on rides because of rider error.

Also we should also be careful of chewing gum or eating candy while riding. Remember the girl who choked on gum while on a rollercoaster. I forgot where that happened, but that was scary.

  14. now i'm not sure what today was, buti t was some kind of extra day, not sure why it was open.... anyway, not crowded at all!

PKI opened for daily operation on May 20th. It was no a special day. But the park is always slow during the first few weeks of daily opeartion. At the beginning and end of the full season. Reason's are most kids are still in school. That's why FOF and other rides and attractions were closed. These are limited operation days. Because most of the staff is still in school.

I find it weird that FoF was on the list of rides being closed though. Normally they try to have all major rides esp Rollercoasters open. So i'm not sure on that one.

  15. Here's my reply to the whole issue:

    1. Farts happen, and they happen everywhere. There is nothing we can do about that.

    2. No offense to The Beast crew members who are reading this, but they are getting more credit than other crews who do the same thing... Perhaps guests should take a look at the Faceoff or Vortex crews, or the happy people over in Hanna Barbara land... We all are enthusiastic about our jobs, just as much as The Beast crew. Just because we don't work on a "legendary" ride, doesn't mean that we aren't good employees. People tend to overlook that.

    3. I really can't excuse any kind of bad behavior from the employees... we are trained to keep private information private, and to treat all guests equally, no matter how bad our day or their day can get. We do have our slip-ups, as does everyone else.

All in all, most pki employees are happy to be where they are and what they do. I know I take great pride in what I do, as do the other employees who read these boards.

I agree everyone will have slip ups. It's hard sometimes to keep smiling thru out the entire day, esp if your there for an AD. (All Day) What I have always hated and not just PKI, but people who work directly with the public, and they act like they don't care what your there for. What i'm reffering too, is people who will hold conversation with other employees while they are suspose to be helping you etc...

  16. Anyone know how long anyone has to still try and sue after an injury like this? I think 4 years is too long to go back and sue now. If she where to sue, she should have done it right then and there. Not 4 years later. dry.gif
