  1. Anyone know how long anyone has to still try and sue after an injury like this? I think 4 years is too long to go back and sue now. If she where to sue, she should have done it right then and there. Not 4 years later.

Tower wasn't too bad to work. But I never got trained in the vator. I did platform and base. It was kinda fun standing on platform just looking around and talking with guests.
  3. It's already done and over with now. Like I said I got advice from PKI to call them back. So really it's not a really big deal. I supported PKI 100% with my answers I gave. So this is just like any other lawsuit PKI has had related to a ride. What I don't understand is, why is this lady just now trying to sue, over something that happened 4 years ago. Doesn't make any since to me.
  4. This was not a prank call. This was legit. She knew that I worked at PKI in 2001, and I was on The Vortex crew. She got my name and # from PKI, PKI gave it to her. When I called PKI they told me to call her back. So someone is filing a lawsuit against PKI because of an issue that happened while this lady was riding on The Vortex. But hell look at how many people tried to sue PKI over FoF. And I think they may have been a few for SOB too. I think the SOB lawsuits was what made PKI make the warning anncounments while in line for SOB.
  5. You might be a PKI addict if you... Can remember all of the ride speils, or pre-shows.
  6. For the debut of 7th Poral in Action Theater. My good friend Katie who was sup on WWC, got to make the enterence speil. They have a sound room in the basement at AT. "As you enter the buliding please walk all the way to end of your row, filling each and every available seat. For your saftey and the saftey of those around you, please place all loose articles on the floor in front of you. No sit back buckle your seat belt and enjoy the ride".
  7. I agree with everyone else. We can all think ourselfs to death over this. We'll just have to wait to see what PKI has in store for us in 2006. Just my thoughts, I wouldn't doubt if it won't be a NC expanson though. But only time will tell.
  8. Update: Okay so I called PKI this morning, and I dialed the extention for the rides department. A lady answered operations, so I told her who I was and what was going on. She put me on hold and she told me that I needed to call the lady back. So I called the lady back. It seems that she contacted all of the 2001 Vortex crew to speak to them. She told me what was going on. Aparently someone banged their face on the OTSR really hard, and said her face went numb from this. It happened back in 2001. She told me as well that this is standered practice when somethign like this happens, they contact the ride ops who wokred on the ride in question. So She just asked me some questions on how I felt the ride was. I told her I didn't feel that ride was rough, and I told her I felt that ride was very safe. I also said It's a rollercoaster so it's not going to be smooth as glass. She also asked me if my training was good, fair, or poor. Of course I told her PKI's training is very good. She also asked me if I ever heard anyone complain after getting off the ride, of the ride being rough. I told her no. I also told her, I would ride Vortex many more times in one day then Son of Beast, now that's one rough ride. It also seems this lady has also talked to others form the 2001 Vortex crew. As she told me that some of the others told her they didn't work at Vortex much, as we were paired with Action Theater, and they worked there more. So i'm not sure what is going on.
  9. What I don't understand, they got my name from PKI...Would would PKI Give this imformation out? I'm tempted to call PKI tomorrow and ask if they know anything about it. It just wild, I wonder if it's related to me working at Vortex in 2001 or not. But I don't feel PKI should have given my information out. I'm a little mad about that.
  10. Most of PKI Speils are done on site. Except for a few that were done to fit in with a certain theme of a ride. Such as TR:TR, WT, and SP:3D. But most of the others are from onsite. Jeff does most of the No Smoking speils, just as an example.
  11. I for one would love for them to bring it back. It was always fun to go. I went to The Beach Holiday fest or whatever they call theirs a few years ago, and it pretty much blew in my opinion. So lets hope that Winterfest may be back for 2005.
  12. I had a weird message today when I got in from work. A Paralegal (SP) called me and wanted to ask what I thought about The Vortex. I haven't had a chance to call her back yet, but I will the first thing tomorrow. She said she got my name from PKI. Not sure if she got my name from being a past employee of PKI and the fact that I worked on Vortex in 2001 or what. Or if she just got my name from the many years of being a PKI Season Pass holder. I just find this very strange. Anyone know what this could be about?
  13. That is because Paul Steiner is a certified idiot, if you had worked at pki a few years ago you'd remember Paul, or "red shoe Paul." He still comes to the park everyday, however his red shoes have been replaced. ..matt I remember Paul. I remember him working on MSC. For those of you who do not know what MSC is. (Monster, Carousel, Scrambler) Didn't he get fired?
  14. I just had a thought. Remeber the old turnpike cars that used be back where the Nick Theater and the slime zone is? Do they even use the Nick Theater for anything anymore? I know they haven't had a Nick show in some time now. Maybe they are going to remove the Nick Theater, and the Slim Zone and put the old tiques there, and theme them to Nick. Nick Toon Pike. Hmmm. But like I said before, only time will tell. We'll just have to wait and see.
  15. I guess anything is possible. I was shocked when I heard of the removal of Tiques, so that goes to show that PKI can and will remove rides that are popular. As far as I know when it comes to Vortex, it's still a very safe and reliable ride. And it was just repainted during the 2001 season. Even though I hate to say it, but that doesn't mean a thing. King Cobra was repainted for the 1999 season and it was removed in 2002. Only time will tell, I'm just hoping that if the rumor is true of major attraction being removed, it is not Vortex. As far as the age of Vortex look at Corkscrew at CP. Been in operation since 1976, so it's been around 11 years longer then Vortex, and i'm sure they are older steel coasters in operation as well. So I don't think the age of Vortex has anything to do with it being removed. I beleive as long as Vortex is still safe and reliable, and popular, it will around for quite sometime. But like I said I guess only time will tell, and before PKI announces anything, this is just a pure rumor.
  16. You can't always believe what you hear. But rumors have been going around for a few years now, that we could see Congo Falls being removed. I really have no idea if it is or not. But I would be very upset if Vortex is to be removed.
  17. Yes I do like The Vortex alot. My first ride was in 1987 and I was only 7 years old. I will never forget that ride. But that is not the reason I said I liked how he went to a view of it going thru the boomarang. I just thought it was interesting, and it was a nice way of doing it.
  18. Actually you are correct. The flying dutchman was indeed removed to make way for Adventure Express. It was located about where the exit to Adventure Express is. If you look thru you the beginning of the line and the exit you can see where some old rails used to be, by the holes in the concerete. I'm not sure what he was trying to prove from those maps, but those maps were pretty old. I know I didn't start going to KI until 1987 and King Cobra opened in 1984 and I indeed rode the Flying Dutchman. We used to call them the shoes.
  19. Well PKI was kinda strict on the capacity of the ride. The way the cars were, each car had two seats, right behind each other. It's kinda hard to explain cause each seat were in separate sections of the car, but it was really only one car. I remember the speil from Skylab from this day. Please sit 2 per seat and 4 per car. I know as well they are smaller type rides which each car is smaller. Huss has proper names for these rides. Skylab looks like this. And a standered enterprise looks like this. But the ride itself is the same.
  20. The video was cool. I really liked the part where you started playing the Happy Days theme song, and then you cut to a view of The Vortex going thru the lat part of the boomarang. Great Job!
  21. I went the pki.com, but that video that normally plays isnt playing. Its not even showing as a video, just as a pic link. Well as of Tuesday May 17th at 12:35pm. I just went to pki.com and indeed I just watched all of the commericals again. It does take about 30 seconds or so for the first one to start playing, and that's on cable. So your connection may inpact how long the video's take to load. Also if you go to paramountparks.com it has a few general paramount parks commericals.
  22. I don't remember if Cedar Point has the same model as the skylab or not. If it's the one that has the bigger cars, which hold 4 passeners per car, 2 per seat. Then more then likey it's the same experience. I do remember the PKI one did not always go all the way up to the full height at times. But I really enjoyed the skylab I was very bumed when it was removed. I also miss the Flight Commander.
  23. You can view this commercial along with all the others at pki.com. Just let the homepage completly load, and they will come up. It's in the middle of screen where at first they are advertising IJST. This commerical will evently play after a few others. The first one is also a new IJST one.
  24. I think you may be surprized how much of the wood is still original. I can't find the picture but I know there was one a couple years back that showed the moss that is growing on the wood from when there used to be a pond by Beast's lift hill. But agree with you that especially in the places where strong forces occur all the wood will have been replaced sometime or another. Yeah I see what your saying. I guess some of the wood could be original. Some of the supports and such.
  25. Italian Job! What area does PKI consider the ride in? Rivertown or Old Coney? Sorry my PKI Associate terms are sneaking in. We used to call Coney Mall, Old Coney alot.
