  1. I would have to say it's a tie between Action Zone and Coney Mall. Action Zone has alot of the thrill rides we love. But Coney has the old feel amusment park feeling to it.
  2. I only remember Smurfs, and of course PT and SD. I do not remember the orgianal ride. Even though I think it would have been cool, to have a mixture of HB cartoons thru out. So other site I beleive History of PKI had a poster post all the words to the orgianal enchanted voyage.
  3. only time will tell. What is the oldest operating wooden coaster in the world? Is it one of the wooden coaster's at Kennywood? But Like I have said before, a wooden coaster is rebulit many times thru out it's lifetime. I'm sure they are not many if any at all orgianal wood on The Beast or Racer.
  4. ^ Thank you!!! The Beast isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I mean sure one day it probably will be removed, but i'm sure it won't be for a very very long time.
  5. Even though we all the ride rating system, I think it would be a good idea to put a sign at least on SOB. I agree with the person who said the same rating on another ride doesn't mean it's going to be the same ride experience.
  6. ^ I have to agree with you 100 percent on this. I've been visiting Kings Island for a very long time. 1987 was the first year I went. And starting in 1988 I had season passes. I also worked for the park for 3 summers, '99 thru '01. So yes a little burn out does happen, and the rides are not the same to me as they were the first time I rode them. So just think what someone thinks how someone feels after the very first time on The Beast or any other ride in the park. I don't beleive any of PKI's rides are over rated.
  7. As you can see, most of the replies are defending The Beast and Racer and why PKI would not remove them.
  8. Well The Beast hasn't been the best wooden coaster for the last 26 years for nothing. Even if another park would bulid a longer wooden coaster then The Beast, just think no one has bulit a longer wooden coaster in 26 years so that says something for The Beast IMHO.
  9. LOL where do you people come up with these ideas. I don't ever see PKI removing The Racer. It was one of the first coasters to open at PKI in 1972. And even though it opened in 1972 can you imangine how many times that ride has probably has been rebuilt. I doubt any piece of wood on that ride is still from 1972. I beleive The Racer will be around for many many years to come.
  10. Yeah it sure did come back. It re-opened in like June of 1993. I remember watching them putting it back together. The ride was removed for good after the 1997 season. I beleive they did have cars there as well during 1992 with the 20th anniversary stuff.
  11. Skylab was removed to do prolonged problems. Remember Skylab was completly removed at the end of the '91 season and I heard shipped over seas to be repaired. The area where Skylab was used in '92 for some old newpaper clipings for the 20th anniversary. The Skylab reopened in the summer of '93. Skylab then closed again during the '97 season and was SBNO for the remainder of the '97 season and was complety removed before the start of the '98 season. I believe most the probelms with the ride was with the arm that held the ride up while it rotated. I do know that the arm failed during the '91 season and the ride fall back towards the ground. I don't beleive anyone was seriously hurt. I think the same thing happened in the '97 season as well.
  12. I miss King Cobra. It's clone is still around though at PCW. Shockwave isn't an exact clone at PKD. But at least I can say that i've rode all 3 Togo standup's in North America.
  13. Cool pics. I had the pleasure of going to PCW back in August in 2003, and I enjoyed the park. Wish it was closer, would love to go back.
  14. Good hints, but i'm driving myself crazy. I even looked to see if the numbers of the rides matched what ride there were on the map. Hmmm. Whatever it is it's not easy to spot.
  15. The park map is not very clear on PKI.com I went and looked and couldn't find any error. But Let me look again. Is the error on the PKI park map on the website?
  16. Not that i'm trying to defend anyone. But you will always have a few bad apples in every bunch. But I have to agree with what everyone is saying. When I was at PKD back in '98 they actually were giving out deflated basketballs, so I wish PKI would do this too. Too many times have I seen while being a PKI ride op, a basketball rolling down the station, and almost landing in the track.
  17. Yeah I remember back in the early years of operation of Vortex, you used to barly be slowed in the block break. You used to fly thru the corkscrews.
  18. That can't be your favorite seat, that's my favorite seat as well. Seat 7-1 (Last car first row) Has always been my favorite, just love being pulled over the top of the lift, and down the drop.
  19. I do believe that Paramount Parks only manages this park, and has no other control of the park, other then from a managment kind of way.
  20. I'm not saying the parks are unsafe. I'm just saying what happened in the past. We have not heard of anything happening at Six Flags park is quite some time and i'm very glad to hear this. I am planning on taking a trip to Six Flags Great America, and i'm still going to ride The Demon. I don't think the parks are unsafe.
  21. Very true about the maintence. Look what happened quite a few years ago, after Six Flags laid off a bunch of maintence people. They were alot of ride accidents and even some deaths. I remember in '98 when "The Demon" at SFGA got stuck in one of the loops. Boy that would had to be scary.
  22. Are you telling me that Six Flags are so cheep, they couldn't even tear up the ground where the old parking lots were when they decided to bulid a coaster on it. That looks horrible. It would look so much better if they ripped up the parking lot, and at least put some grass in.
  23. As far as themes for the next big ride. Hmmm that's a good one. Just because Paramount Parks is already considering this I would say Adams Family.
  24. I believe that HB land will be redone next year and a new bigger Nick Central. So I think a Nickeloden theme will be used next.
  25. Vortex has never seemed rough to me ever. But call me crazy I do find it a little bumpy though in the rear seats of each car. I don't like those seats anyway cause i'm a taller guy at a little over 6 feet tall. And my knees aways hit the back of the seat in front of me. *side note* Notice that person with the weird screen name has only two posts.
