  1. I think it would be great idea if they made a smaller Moonlight Gardens replica for an indoor VIP area . . without the dance floor :) .  This could pay a little homage to Coney Island in the process.  I think I remember reading the wrought iron was stored at Kings Island once.  So maybe they thought about doing this at one time??

  2. Gotta admit I have been more anticipating "Camp Snoopy" than SSBR.  Not sure if it's the park's problem with marketing or just me.  I thought what they did with Adventure Port was great and wanted more upgrades like that around the park.

Then I started thinking "Would I really know about a new coaster at KI, if I wasn't reading KIC posts everyday"?  Not sure.

  3. I got to ride it when it first opened.  Actually went on my lunch hour with a co-worker.  I really had no idea what type of ride it was and went totally uninformed.  It was amazing and I was blown away.  My favorite part was being hung upside down to the lava pit . . I could feel the water hitting my face.

The only other time I was that amazed at KI was my first time riding "The Beast", but you gotta know I was 12 when it opened.  The other ride that comes to mind is seeing "The Outer Limits: Flight of Fear" being launched for my first time.  You could hear everyone in line just say 'wow'.  Remember it was a new experience back then.

Honestly, I do not think Disney or Universal could have done a better job.

  4. I very much enjoyed the first hill lift and drop.  Loved seeing the coaster overlooking KI.  But wow it was painful on the thighs, especially in the rose bowl.  I was there the Saturday in 2009 before it closed.  I passed on riding it that day because of the pain it inflicted.  But still kind of wished I got that one last ride in.

  5. I understand there are a lot of variables that go into operating a business.  But whether or not I go (as a season pass holder), the park is still going to spend X amount of dollars to open, operate and close the park for a normal 10am-10pm operational day.  The season pass sales basically pay those base costs or a large percentage of it.

Where they make profits is me (season pass holder) buying food, merchandise, playing games, etc..  Or the once/twice year ticket purchasers who also purchase in the park.  I go out of my way to buy food and merchandise, so the park has more cash flow for all the things we like.  Just my small drop in the bucket that adds up with everyone else's.

If we all stopped buying season passes it would be more like a death blow than just showing our displeasure in cuts.  So for me, if they see season pass holders not buying in the park, it should be enough to get management's attention.  To show our displeasure of not cleaning the mid-way, closing rides early, etc..

I don't know how far it would have to go for me not to buy season passes.  Been buying them for 20-30 years.  For now, my protest is to stop spending extra while in the park.  I will still eat there because I don't want to leave and come back.  But no more t-shirts, sweatshirts, key chains, Christmas ornaments, Snoopy Squishmallows, etc..  And it will break my heart, but no more blue ice cream.

Well . . maybe not give up blue ice cream - - my protest can only go so far.  I will also probably still buy a funnel cake or two.  And a turkey leg.  I'm a hypocrite.

  6. I don't think they are taking on SF mentality of cuts per say.  But pre-merger a company would want a stronger bottom line and leaner operations.  CF knew of the coming merger opportunity and started planning months before GP knew of the possible merger.

Plus downturn in economy, higher costs for just about everything and missing out on a year of season pass sales due to covid all played a role.  Interesting next couple of years ahead post-merger.  But I feel bad for the people losing their positions and for park goers who no longer have this great service available to them.  Some of slack will have to be covered by existing employees and putting more pressure on them.

  7. Bring back a working mill wheel for The Beast.  Not the pond/lake under the track turn.  But just a small pool to collect water and pump it back up to turn the wheel.

  8. One of the sounds I love hearing at the park is the train chime (whistle), and is probably my favorite.  Right up there with hearing the "Roar of The Beast", wheels of Diamondback, the front entrance water fountains.

I always wished the train was more prominent and circled the entire park.  But I also always loved the secludedness of the ride, especially in the days before the water park.

  9. Not sure why, but I decided to check if Cedar Point had a "WinterFest".  It seems they had something called "Christmas in the Park" back in 1994.  I don't have anything to back that up except some old message boards.

Did anyone here attend?  Why didn't CF pursue it more?  Was it just too miserable with weather coming off the lake?  Would you attend if they started something similar again??

  10. This year the buffet is a hard sale for me to justify.  Although that view of I Street is amazing.  I understand the price of food has gone up so that means the price of the buffet would go up too.  But the extra cost for the dessert just soured me on the idea.  At least give season pass holders a discount.  It just seems more of price gouging.  idk

Just about any other buffet I can remember the dessert was part of it.  Am I being too harsh?

But the park was amazing and loved every minute I was there.  I just ended up doing my Pub Burger was good as always . . and hot chocolate.

  11. I've been a Gold Pass buyer for 20+ years and always been happy with the value of my purchase.  But I do feel bad for the people who bought Prestige and felt jilted by the park.  I came close to buying Prestige but decided against and glad I did not purchase it.

My biggest complaint for the past several years is more open daily dates in August.  Most of the other parks in the chain are open daily in August to Labor Day.

I know students are back in school.  But it still is summertime!!  I want to go over and ride The Beast at lunch time before summer is over.  :)  It is sad to see those close dates in the calendar.
