  1. I would keep checking to see if they start selling them again. Last year other Cedar Fair parks sold out and restocked them a week or two later.
  2. I live 550 miles away, I hadn't looked at directions before since my trip in 2015 was from a different location, it looks like much of the drive is I80 in PA to get to Ohio. I'm hoping I'll be going back to the park next year.
  3. I voted 5 to 6 hours. With the nice weather (no rain and 70 degrees), combined with all the people using Fast Lane Plus, anyone in the regular line is going to have a long wait time.
  4. Looks cool, the price is keeping me from considering it and also because I just recently opened up and built the Space Mountain K'NEX set I bought in 2012. I don't feel like taking it apart and then building another coaster.
  5. I really like Dorney's water park but they don't have that many "special" type of slides. Just the standard inner tube and body slides, a clone of Tropical Plunge, family raft slide, 2 lazy rivers and 2 wave pools. Not counting identical slides, like only counting the 2 speed slides as 1 slide, they have 22 slides. Hershey's water park is really small, a water play area (all ages allowed with some full size slides), a kids play area, 3 inner tube slides, Tornado, bowl slide, 2 person inner tube slide, lazy river, wave pool, Flow Rider and splash ground plus the new slides. It's the only water park I have been to with an actual queue for the wave pool. Superman's restraints tighten up after they lock so the vest has no slack. Neither ride has a lot of support in the vest but I find Joker more comfortable. If you like science museums The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia is fun. There is also the historical sites in Philadelphia like the Liberty Bell and Independece Hall. I wish I had more to suggest but even living over 90% of my life near Philadelphia, I rarely went into the city except for sporting events and an occasional museum visit.
  6. I think a Larson Loop is too similar to Meteor (Zamperla Hawk). I wouldn't want a Free Spin because I don't like the ride itself (it makes me dizzy and disoriented) but since they are popular, many visitors would probably like it. If not a GCI or Kanonen, my next choice would be a small RMC wooden or hybrid coaster or the RMC Raptor. The low capacity would be ok at a park like Dorney for a Raptor. I haven't seen guards in the queue lines for years but most of the time, they aren't needed with lines not much past the coaster stations many days.
  7. It's very rare, almost 170 trips to the park since 2007 and I have never seen it happen even in cooler weather where it is around 40 degrees. The ride operators really try to make sure each train is almost full and on slow days will wait to load a train until there are enough people in the station which I guess also hurts the chances of a rollback.
  8. I agree 100%. It is my home park but it's to the point where I rarely visit other than when Wildwater Kingdom is open because I am burnt out from riding the same coasters over and over again. I'd much rather drive the extra 80 minutes round trip to Hershey or further to Great Adventure since both parks continue to add major attractions almost every year. The GCI rumors started over 10 years ago and I have been hoping the park will still get it but after the used rides additions of Possessed, Demon Drop and Stinger and so few additions overall recently, I'm not expecting much. 2 out of the last 3 years, no new rides have been added and in that time more has been removed than the 2 flat rides added last year (Stinger, Screamin Swing, Chance Carousel, Hang Time). I also would have expected maybe a new water park addition since that is where most of the crowds are but even that has been 4 years since anything was added. There are other small things I feel like Cedar Fair could have done to improve the park besides rides. Rather than add lots of new standard Coke dispensers that attract bees over the last 2 years and don't have many flavor choices, they could have added at least a few Freestyle machines that other Cedar Fair parks have. They could also not open so late into the season when their competition opens in March, they aren't opening until May 4th (and both Hershey and Great Adventure are open until the beginning of January). It is also other minor things like their being 3 season pass preview days on the calendar this year, one before opening day and 2 for the water park the weekend before Memorial Day. One by one, all 3 were removed. I know it's not the worst thing but it just adds to the frustration to look forward to those days and see them removed in addition to everything else.
  9. June will be way less crowded. Philadelphia, NYC and Jackson (and maybe other local NJ schools) are still in session that week with Philadelphia and NYC not getting out until late June. Schools near Hershey might be out by then but it won't be that bad especially with the 10 pm closings even on weekdays. The days after July 4th will likely be crowded. I made the mistake of going to Great Adventure on July 6th years ago and it was hour waits for everything. I usually stay away from Great Adventure from late June to Labor Day since it can crowded even on weekdays. Hershey is more reasonable that time of year because the water park takes away a lot of the crowds but it still will be somewhat crowded.
  10. I have to go with Cedar Point because of Millennium Force and Maverick, and Top Thrill Dragster to a lesser extent. El Toro is excellent. Skull Mountain and Kingda Ka are fun but neither are close to being my favorite coasters from Intamin. I really like Storm Runner but like so many of the accelerator coasters, it's a short ride. Fahrenheit is decent and Skyrush seems to be a love it or hate it ride. The forcefulness and restraints make it a coaster I don't ride every trip to Hersheypark and my least favorite hypercoaster.
  11. It's a tough choice for me between Cedar Point and Great Adventure even without riding Valravn but I voted for Great Adventure. Nitro is my 2nd favorite steel coaster (Diamondback is a close 3rd), Bizarro is my favorite floorless coaster, Batman the Ride is a good invert, Green Lantern is good too and Superman is ok (I hate the restraints).
  12. I was at Great Adventure yesterday, parking is $25 for regular ($40 for preferred). According to someone on another site, they are not reimbursing parking for season pass or membership purchases so you would need to buy it online to avoid the $25 parking cost. Online pricing for the season pass is also less online than at the gate. Hopefully when you visit the park, things will be better than they were yesterday. I guess because yesterday was the only day this week without rain, even with the cold weather and wind it was crowded with Nitro closed all day for mechanical issues. Superman, Kingda Ka and Zumanjaro kept closing because of the wind and some coasters were running 1 train. A lot of food places were closed and others had limited menus but I would hope by June, everything will be fully running and at full capacity.
  13. It looks like the ride is going to be scrapped: http://newsplusnotes.blogspot.com/2018/03/exclusive-photos-of-deconstruction-of.html
  14. Dorney has a steep hill near the entrance that goes past Sea Dragon and down to Dominator and The Whip, although not as bad as the hill near Storm Runner at Hershey. There is another hill from Hydra to the lower area of the park and that one isn't as steep either. Otherwise, the rest of the park is mostly flat.
  15. A season pass with free upgrade to gold looks like it's $92. Daily admission online is $52, last year parking at Great Adventure was $25 so you would save more with the daily ticket and parking if you are sure you aren't going to any other Six Flags parks the rest of the year. Either way online there is also a processing fee that you may be able to avoid for the season pass if buying it at the park directly but then you have to pay for parking first and hope they will reimburse it when buying the pass or going to guest services. Parking may have gone up in price this year. I was supposed to go there this weekend but they closed ahead of time because of weather. I plan to go sometime in the beginning of April and I'll post in this thread if there was a parking increase.
  16. Dorney will be ok on a weekend in June. I'd be surprised if any coasters were more than 10 - 15 minutes during the day except Wild Mouse. Knoebels on a Sunday should also be good especially if you plan to get the wristband, I was there on Sunday in June in 2016 and other than Flying Turns, it was mostly 5 - 15 minute waits. I agree Hershey and Great Adventure would be best on weekdays, if you had to go to Hershey on a Sunday for some reason, it wouldn't be too bad. Just avoid a Saturday, it doesn't matter what time of year, Saturday's are bad. There were days in October where even small coasters like Trailblazer were 60 minutes on a Saturday yet on Sunday the same weekend, the park is empty. It wasn't because of Halloween events since there are no trails or mazes or anything scary. It was the same over Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday 60 minute wait for sooperdooperlooper, walk on, on Sunday.
  17. Dorney Park Hersheypark Knoebels Dutch Wonderland Sesame Place Kennywood Kings Island Cedar Point Great Adventure Playland's Castaway Cove Gillians's Wonderland Pier Tivoli Pier (small indoor park that used to be inside the Tropicana casino in Atlantic City) Fantasy Island (NJ) iPlay America Storybook Land (NJ) Morey's Piers Lake Compounce Canobie Lake Park Busch Gardens Williamsburg Kings Dominion Canadas Wonderland Centreville Magic Kingdom Epcot Hollywood Studios Animal Kingdom Sea World Orlando Universal Studios Florida Islands of Adventure Busch Gardens Tampa Fun Spot America Boardwalk and Baseball Disneyland California Adventure Knott's Berry Farm
  18. I already avoid staying on site unless there is free dining offered because I felt the extra cost of on site vs off site wasn't worth it. Now another fee makes me want to stay off site even more. I get Disney is a business and they want to make as much money as possible, but the combination of ticket increases, hotel parking fees, shorter park hours with more upcharge events (Halloween parties start in mid August this year!) and reduced capacity / operations during slower times to keep lines longer makes me want to visit less and less. I know Universal charges for parking but that didn't bother me as much because their room rates are much less than Disney for an equivalent room and the unlimited Express Pass also helped justify staying there.
  19. Dorney mostly has the standard burgers, pizza and chicken fingers. I usually go to Chickie's and Pete's (counter service location) since it's included with the dining pass. The only bad thing is the portion is small with only half a cheesesteak and a side of crab fries. Great Adventure has a lot of variety. Johnny Rockets, Macho Nacho (a lot of options there), Mama Flora's and Panda Express ( both not on the dining pass) plus a new cheesesteak place and Garden State a Grill that has specialty burgers and some other items. One of the more popular places is Best of the West near the log flume that has a lot of BBQ type food. There was a new addition last year in the boardwalk area with loaded hot dogs that was added to replace Nathan's that was where the cheesesteak place was added. Overall, food is expensive if paying full price. Most meals are around $12 - $13 without a drink. Food lines can also be slow, especially when the meal period ends for the dining pass users (lunch ends at 3, dinner and the snack 1 hour before park closing time).
  20. It's been a few years since I have been there. I forgot that there was track replacement done. Hopefully it made the ride better.
  21. Morey's is nice for a boardwalk park but their coaster collection compared to other standard parks isn't that great. Great Nor'easter vibrates and rattles the entire ride, Sea Serpent is a standard boomerang, Rollie's Coaster is a carnival type coaster with unnecessary over the shoulder restraints, Flitzer is an ok family coaster, Doo Wopper is a regular wild mouse and Great White is decent although a little rough. It's also expensive, around $50 for a wristband or over $7 per ride for the larger coasters if you use points. The non coaster rides are good, the log flume goes under the Boardwalk with some theming and there are a couple of good dark rides. The piers are also spread out, it's a long walk from Surfsife Pier (where Great Nor'easter is) to Adventure Pier where Great White is. The openings are also not the same for each pier, Adventure Pier often opens at 4 which makes it difficult to ride all the coasters if you were planning on going early in the day.
  22. I remember really looking forward to this park being built since I liked the idea of having a Disney park around 5 hours away. It was disappointing to never see it happen.
  23. https://rcdb.com/r.htm?ot=2&mk=6831&ii&page=1&order=-8 This lists their current projects. It looks like most of their new coasters are being built in Asia with a few in Europe.
  24. I think the cost was also higher because Great Adventure charges more than some other Six Flags parks. The early entry is almost worthless. Every time I used it in past years, it just allowed you to get to a ride entrance early, the rides still didn't open early and half the time at opening, they didn't even have early entry at all.
