  1. Maybe it was Batman The Escape from Astroworld that also at Great Adventure and Magic Mountain before that.
  2. Even though it was gone before my first visit to the park, I would have liked to have tried the coaster at least once since it was a rare coaster type and looks like a somewhat different ride experience. The closest I have gotten to riding a similar coaster was Pteranodon Flyers at Islands of Adventure but couldn't ride because of the maximum height limit without a kid (even with only a few people in line).
  3. I miss them a lot. Boulder Dash is my #1 wooden coaster and Ghost Rider is my #3 wooden coaster (although I never rode the coaster until GCI did the refurbishment). The other coasters I have ridden from them, Great White and Sky Princess / Kingdom Coaster were also fun.
  4. Knotts is open every day of the year except for I think Christmas Day. Weekday hours during the winter are typically around 10 am to 6 pm. There is also likely to be a coaster or two closed. Magic Mountain is only open on weekends that time of year except maybe if there is a holiday on a weekday. Like Knotts, there will probably be some coasters closed.
  5. There is no way I would go to any major park on a Saturday in October if the weather is ok. Even if a park isn't at capacity, 2+ hour lines for the big coasters is not worth it to me. For the people on Facebook saying they should open during the week, it is almost impossible to get enough people to staff the park on weekdays in the Fall, even if enough people showed up for it to be worthwhile. Great Adventure 2 - 3 years ago decided to open Tuesday - Thursday after Labor Day when all schools were in session. Besides minimal staffing like no Flash Pass and no ride greeters and many food places closed, they actually had to get workers from Six Flags New England and Six Flags America to help run the rides in addition to some managers help running a few of the coasters.
  6. I was hoping to try the 3L Launch Coaster this year at Playland's Castaway Cove in Ocean City, NJ but unfortunately the park ran into multiple delays and it never opened this season (along with their new Miler family coaster). The park posted on Facebook that they still might try to open the coasters for a weekend in November even though the park closed for the season but at this point I'll probably try to get there next year since Ocean City isn't that great this time of year with almost everything on the boardwalk closed after Columbus Day weekend. I have had a chances to try the Free Spin at Great Adventure but when I watch the coaster, I just can't convince myself to get in line. All the flipping like a Zipper flat ride and moving backwards and flipping at the same time looks really dizzying to me. I'll probably eventually try it if I see the coaster with no line so I don't have time to think about it.
  7. Dorney has scare actors all over the place not just in the scare zones and there are some spots where you can't avoid them at all because of the layout of the park (Hydra is in the middle of a scare zone) and with Planet Snoopy closed during Haunt and not being able to cut through that section to avoid some of the scare zones. There has also been more fog that ever this year all over the park besides in the trails and scare zones. Combined with not as many lights on, it was difficult to see in some areas of the park. Dorney really tries to discourage kids from attending Haunt. In addition to Planet Snoopy closing and the kids activities that are in Wildwater Kingdom closing before Haunt, they also shut down the Cedar Creek Cannonball train and Road Rally car ride at either 5 or 6 and don't open either on Friday nights. I saw more people than usual wearing the No Boo necklaces last week compared to visits in past years possibly because of the not being able to avoid the scare zones.
  8. The waiting on the brake run with your head tilted down is something I hate about B&M flying coasters. It's one of the few times I prefer 1 train running so you can avoid it.
  9. Do you have a printout of the pass voucher? I just looked at my voucher for Great Adventure. There are 4 boxes, 1 for the pass, 1 for the dining pass, 1 for the free parking and 1 for the free upgrade to a Gold pass. The free parking and gold boxes have an expiration date of 10/31/16 (even though the park is open until January 2, 2017 this season) and the season pass box has an expiration date of 12/31/17. edit, nevermind I see that was already mentioned. For the current Six Flags Over Georgia offer it looks like the passes have to be processed by September 25th, but it might have been different for the Flash Sale earlier this month: PLEASE NOTE: To receive this incredible offer you must buy during our Back to School Sale. To get the free upgrade to Gold level, free parking, free White Water, and bonus Holiday in the Park ticket, you must purchase four or more Season Passes or Memberships and pick up your new Season Passes or Membership cards at the park by September 25, 2016.
  10. I was disappointed to see that Great Adventure's Holiday In The Park didn't even make it in the top 5 for Best Christmas Event. 7 coasters running in a cold weather region as well as flat rides, an amazing fiber optic Christmas tree show, the park covered in lights and some good traditional shows. It really exceeded my expectations but I guess the voters didn't feel that way.
  11. I'm going to be very disappointed if it is true. It is yet another tame ride being replaced by a thrill ride. In the 90s I remember family trips where we could ride everything together at Epcot. They replaced World of Motion and Horizons with thrill rides, Soarin isn't intense but can make some people sick and replaced Food stocks and now this. I don't mind a coaster at Epcot but not at the expense of another ride. Why can't they build this in Wonder of Life's or Oddyssey's spot instead. I know Wonders of Life is used for festival events but couldn't they use the Millennium Village instead?
  12. If it was Rollo Coaster looking at the cars: http://rcdb.com/272.htm#p=27350 It is surprising that it looks like there are fixed lap bars and no seat belts for a kids/family coaster. I hope the child has a full recovery.
  13. One of the bumper cars from the ride is supposedly chained under the brake run in the maintenance area of Batman The Ride. Those bumper cars have been closed since 2008 and new bumper cars were added to Adventure Alley in 2012.
  14. I thought I would give an update on this. I bought it last week and have been to the park twice so far since then. The first trip it didn't really help much except for the Boa Blasters (same as the tube slides at Tropical Plunge) that were around 15 minutes. Today it was about the same at Boa Blasters and then on the ride side some of the coasters were 15 - 30 minutes. The instructions online stated to go to the Fast Lane booth at the entrance to get the wristbands except both times it has been closed and I have had to go to Guest Services. I expected to see some more people using Fast Lane with it now available for the season and both trips I saw less than 5 others total using it. I already technically got my money's worth since it is regularly $60 a day except I would have never bought it at that price. If I get to the park 6 more times before the season ends, that would be 8 trips total with Fast Lane / Fast Lane Plus (after Labor Day there is no Fast Lane Plus so you get regular Fast Lane) working out to $13.75 per trip (including taxes and processing fee from ordering online) which I feel it is worth it if it saves even a few hours in line each trip. If the park offers it again next year and it is $150 or less for a full season I would probably get it again.
  15. It happens a lot in Adventure Alley near Sky Screamer. The drainage in that section of the park isn't very good and can't handle heavy rain well. I took this picture during Fright Fest in 2012
  16. I'm glad I got to try the coaster last year but won't miss it. If it had still been at the park, in future trips to the park I would have skipped it. The only wooden coasters I have ridden that were worse were Hercules and Gwazi.
  17. Even with the Millennium Flyer trains I thought Gwazi was horrible. The only part of the ride that was tolerable was the pre lift section and the lift hill. I can usually tolerate rough coasters but Gwazi was so bad I had a headache an hour after riding. Easily the worst wooden coaster I have ridden.
  18. If it wasn't already towards the end of July I would have bought it. It's not needed on the ride side except for Wild Mouse and Thunder Canyon but would be really helpful for the water park attractions on Fast Lane Plus. It would also allow me to go to Haunt on a Saturday, one of the few times the rides can get long lines.
  19. A dark ride has been my most wanted addition to Great Adventure for years. The park has such a great coaster collection already and other ride types are needed. For a while when RedZone closed rides for no reason like Houdini's Great Escape, if you didn't count the kiddie rides and went in the beginning or end of the season there were less than 10 non coaster rides in the park to choose from. It will also be good to have another indoor ride for Holiday in the Park. Even though the park will run the coasters in below freezing temperatures, there are only so many Nitro rides you can take in that weather before needing to go to an indoor ride to warm up.
  20. I have gotten a lot of coasters off my list the past 2 season including everything I wanted to ride at Kings Island, Cedar Point, Disneyland and Knotts so my list won't have that many coasters as it would have just over a year ago. Mindbender (Six Flags Over Georgia) Fury 325 Superman Ride of Steel (Six Flags New England) Avalanche (Kings Dominion) Any RMC
  21. Intamin pre-fab wooden coaster. With how great El Toro is, I am kind of surprised no other parks in the US got them. Now with RMC being the go to choice, I wonder if there will ever be another Intamin pre-fab wooden coaster built at all even outside the US. It's really a shame to see so many Schwarzkopf coasters closing in recent years. I have yet to ride a Schwarzkopf coaster that wasn't great and I'm glad some parks like Hersheypark and Magic Mountain invested in new trains so their coasters will hopefully be running for a while.
  22. I didn't buy a Cedar Fair refillable cup this year and even with getting the equivalent of the orange bottle free from Six Flags with the dining pass purchase, I still don't carry it with me when I go to a Six Flags park because I know it will probably get stolen (especially at rides where you leave the cup in a holder at the entrance) or someone will tamper with it. One suggestion I heard was if you have a bottle from past years, put the lid of that bottle on the top of the cup and get a cup holder that covers most of the cup except for the lid and that way it looks like you have an old cup that is less likely to get stolen. I can't find a picture of it online but it is a neoprene holder with a neck strap that is specifically designed to fit the souvenir cup. I would gladly pay for an all season locker at either Six Flags or Cedar Fair parks. At least Six Flags is somewhat reasonable with $1 for 2 hours at each ride or pay $8 to transfer the locker access from ride to ride all day. At Dorney, the price was recently raised from $2 per hour to $5 per hour for the lockers that aren't all day (all day are $20 - $35). I just drink water while in the parks and wait until I leave the park if I want something else.
  23. Raptor, I have them ranked like this: Raptor Banshee Montu Talon Dragon Challenge Chinese Fireball Dragon Challenge Hungarian Horntail Great Bear Silver Bullet Batman The Ride (Great Adventure)
