I love the first picture in that post (below). The Racer as a backdrop will look fantastic, and I'm glad they designed the path around pre-existing trees.

Hopefully they do a good job on the landscaping because that is what is going to make ride.

Yes!  Me and my dad will be there for sure! This will be my first coaster event at KI since we did BeastBuzz back in 2004(The Beast's 25th anniversary year), so it seems kinda fitting that we'll be there to celebrate The Beast's 40th.

My vote goes for The Eagles with Phantom Theater a close second (of course, I still remember riding Enchanted Voyage too).
I agree that the scooters we have now pale in comparison to the original Eagles. The Eagles were by far my favorite non coaster ride because of the truly wild rides you could get. I rode them as a kid on and as I grew up they were still a favorite! They were such an adrenaline rush! As I've said before, it's tough walking past that 3 point challenge knowing what was once there.

The Eagles that KI has now, while nice, pales in comparison to the original set that were at KI.  The original set (which is now at Carowinds), had 10 tubs, versus the 8 that are on the one in Planet Snoopy.  Not to mention, the ride originally opened at Coney Island in 1940!  And it is far better than the three point challenge that now exists on the site the Scooters used to occupy.

Does Boomerang Bay count? If so, yes!

If not, the Flying Eagles/Antique Cars removal was the worst mistake ever, and I still believe that the replacement is garbage in comparison.

I love reading about all these past rides. Great job Shaggy!
I was fortunate to get quite a few rides on the original Bat. It's too bad the initial design was so flawed, but I got lucky I suppose with the rides I had during the first year or so. It wasn't the fastest thing around, but it was a wild ride in it's inception. The descent off the second lift flying through the trees was my favorite part. Just watching the train swing through along the track was mind blowing as a 12-13 year old kid. It was such a new concept at the time. And I loved all the commercials for it and The Beast on TV back in the day. I still have a pennant the the original Bat, Beast and Screamin Demon logos together...it's one of my most loved souvenirs!

Having the original Eagles back would be a dream come true. As they were my favorite non-coaster ride ever, I would be beyond happy! I agree Shaggy, it was one of the most perplexing moves I have seen as far as the park goes. Such a loved ride with so much Cincinnati historical background from Coney to KI.  Sometimes, I still hearing the cables snapping in my head as I walk by that stupid basketball game.

I want them back!  Snapping or no snapping, they belong at KI.  The person that pulled the plug on them at PKI, and yes I know who it was, made the most inane decision in the parks history.
IMO, those flyers are as historical to KI as The Racer and Carousel.

I've posted this on another thread but I never asked- would Millennium Flyer trains work on The Beast or not. Don't get me wrong I like the old PTC trains, but I think Mystic Timbers spoiled me with it's seating

Of course eveyone know's I am, and always will be a Beast fan...
But, I am personally of the opinion that Beast needs it's trains replaced.  The existing trains are considered the "originals" but they have been chopped, altered, padded, divided, dissected, renovated, changed, updated, downgraded, upgraded, conformed, and manipulated to the point that they are not remotely the same trains it started with... I'd actually go as far to say that in reality on about 10% or less of the trains is still "original."
Just think about it... they were immediately altered after opening (interior hand-stitched tufted padding was taken out, the headlamp removed and replaced with the logo), then they were cut down from 4-benchers to 3 within a few years of operation, and in the subsequent 30 seasons had the buzz bars removed, headrests added, seat dividers extended, accessible strapping added, extra padding added, seat belts added, skids removed for fins etc etc etc.
I don't at all think it would be some horrible thing to replace the trains completely.  Frankly, a switch to a different type of train from the EXTREMELY dated PTC's would help re-invigorate the ride IMO - allowing for more rider comfort and also allowing for more guests to ride (let's face it... people are fat these days - so everything from cars, to airlines to movie theaters are having to address this.)  It would be nice if PTC had an updated version of the trains to offer.  But as far as I know, PTC continues to produce the same archaic trains they were making 100 years ago.  I understand they do a good business for those that want new trains identical to the older ones - but they have virtually NO other options as far as styling or articulation, just wooden boxes on wheels.  Heck - one of the main reasons The Beasts elements are so far apart is because the longer PTC trains couldn't articulate directional changes abruptly.  The only option PTC gives it's customers for tighter elements is shorter cars yet still non-articulating.
If The Beast changed trains, it would be a necessary advancement.  The originals, or AN original, could be kept for display.
If I was given a magic wand, I'd probably wave it at The Beast and orchestrate a complete station, theme element and train overhaul. The water, mining Co, Beast warning sign, tc would all be updated/brought back.  And it would get a test seat - which it has needed desperately for decades.
Of course it's very easy for me to be a keyboard critic and think that it would be that easy - it would likely take at least a million dollars to make that happen  - alterations, permits, inspections, insurance adjustments etc etc etc.  And why buy the Mercedes if the Cadillac is working just fine?
No matter - I still love it ;-)

Well, it's time to get up to The Point again next summer...that is one amazing transformation of a coaster that sorely needed it. RMC is just blowing it out of the water with this one! After riding Outlaw Run and Stormchaser, I cannot wait to ride this monster!

Oh. my. gosh. This looks amazing! I freaked when I saw that it would be a hyper! Also, thank you Cedar Point (and Cedar Fair) for calling it a hybrid and not a wooden coaster. Finally, this thing is long! Cannot wait to board in 2018!

In all seriousness, I'll go on record and say this will be, by far, Cedar Point's best coaster.  I cannot wait to ride it.  Kudos to them!
