If you watch the fury time lapse, as soon as they had the first substantial lift hill track vertical (where KI is heading now) they started working on the bottom of the drop, then altered back and forth between the lift hill and the drop before meeting in the middle with the top. Seems like this digging would be related to something on the drop, perhaps something to get the area ready for cranes, workers and what not to begin that process in the coming days.

Its a wood coaster, you can retrack/replace forever if you like. I'm sure parts of the ride get retracked every year or handful of years, nothing major, but routing maintenance over the coarse of the offseason. Unless mother nature comes calling, there is nothing that would prevent KI from keeping it going for the rest of my liefetime short of The Beast becoming less popular than the maintenance is worth. There are coasters over 100 years old out there still operating.

As I understand it, that is the trade off for not having a mid-course brake run. I think most of us would prefer the higher brake hill than a MCBR

OK, I've spend a lot of time in Planet Snoopy over the years, and spend a day at Dollywood, including an hour or so in Wildwood grove. In terms of cleanliness, newness, whatever, Wildwood Grove wins hands down, honestly it would be impossible for KI to compete with the freshness that is Wildwood Grove in that respect. In terms of dining, Wildwood Grove wins by a landslide. The Mexican restaurant that they have near the entrance to wildwood grove was excellent, KI's food offerings are mostly 2nd rate in that area. In terms of rides, I think KI wins in a landslide. Dragonflier is similar (though admittedly better) to Flying Ace Arial Chase. The flying tubs are similar, if not identical. Blackbear trail was kind of cool, and my kids loved it, KI doesn't have anything like that, Wildwood Grove doesn't have anything like The Beastie. There are a couple of other rides unique to Wildwood Grove (compared to Planet Snoopy) but many more unique experiences at Planet Snoopy (compared to Wildwood Grove). I feel like, aside from the dining and freshness of Wildwood Grove (which was excellent, so I don't mean to take anything away from the job they did there) it would be tough for a family to spend more than a couple of hours in that part of the park, while at Kings Island, I think a familar could spend half their day in Planet Snoopy and keep the kids entertained (as well as some of the in between kids). Now as a whole park experience, I'd say Dollywood is a better place for the 46" and under crowd, firechaser express just blows away anything KI has, throw in their other kids area (which felt run down compared to Planet Snoopy) and there is more there for a small kid, but if were just talking about 1 specific part of the park, I'd rather take my 3 year old to Planet Snoopy for 4 hours vs Wildwood Grove, all else being equal. But as Bodha said, I get how it works, that's just my $0.02 on the 2 specific areas.

My guess is that Orion lift hill gets exaggerated more, and Diamondback's hill gets a little less exaggerated so that Orion's hill appears much bigger than Diamondback.

Soak City needs a water coaster ..... and a new theme. Can they pay homage to the area and rename it Surf Cincinnati? Not sure how the trademarks and naming would work, but give it a "local feel" rather than the generic Soak City (seems like CF is moving away from the Soak City branding for all.

I have a hunch that the biggest issue is that running 1 backwards forces the park to keep both sides open, even on slow days. When they both run the same direction, they can shut down one side when crowds are light.

Personally, I think the 296/301 marks are accurate, while I'll hope for more.... BUT.... I think the 296 mark on the plans refers to the height of the track (top or bottom), while KI will refer to the the total height of the ride as the riders eye level (or perhaps heart level) and will claim the ride to be 301' tall with a 301' drop; longest drop on a giga.

Such an underrated movie. I've probably seen that movie over 20 times.

Ive never been there, doubtful I ever go, but I just pulled it up on google maps, and the plot of land that thing sits on is bigger than the plot of land for Corkscrew, so they could definitely fit in something worthwhile. Of course there is a ton of undeveloped land (at least it appears that way on google) that could be utilized, so its a shame they are taking something out for whatever is coming next. Its a shame that place is so lightly visited, there is a ton of room for improvements, but not the capital return to make it worthwhile. Based upon the picture, this attraction appears similar to the one that Dollywood has by Lightening Rod. My 2 youngest kids loved that experience, I think they did it 4 times each, twice with mom while I rode Lightening Rod with the oldest, twice with me while my wife rode Lightening Rod with the oldest.

In all honesty, if the coaster was 300 foot tall or 295 foot tall you couldn't tell the difference while on the ride. If the track is at 296, but your eye level is at 301 feet, you won't feel the difference. 296 vs 300 only makes a difference to those who focus on stats, those who focus on the experience (general public) won't care much either way, I'm sure the park will advertise this as a 300+ foot coaster and the GP isn't going to care.

What I don't get, if these signs are made in Sandusky, how did they get all the way to KI with this amount of errors? How much harder is it to get make a piece of tape that matches up perfectly and cover up these mistakes vs just printing a whole new poster? That tells me that these are "intentional", there should be enough eyeballs that look over these both before and after printing to catch a vast majority of these "mistakes". One or two slipping thru? Sure, but this many? No way. The only thing that seems reasonable to me, is the reference that there were mistakes on the original plans that got posted and perhaps we don't know all that we think we know. Or perhaps they plans are perfectly good and they are just having fun that one of the plans scale was off when submitted for review (though likely corrected before being issued for construction and this is their way of "having fun" either way, I still have no clue what the information on the posters is trying to tell us, though I am enjoying them; I'm sure some of them are herrings, but some of them will jump out clear as day once the ride is announced as clues all along.

What if the letters spell out something, but the numbers give ride stats (height, speed, length, etc....)

Bayern Curve was in Oktoberfest. I don't believe the area that Invertigo is in was used for anything when the park opened.

Any chance that when Cedar Fair went over to europe to claim old rides to place in their parks, that a Bayern Curve could have been picked up? Perhaps a Bayern Curve could be coming back as well as in the near future as part of a flat expansion in 2021, give them a year to move maintenance from its current spot out to the new buildings, tear those down next off season and install a handful of flats (and restrooms) back in that area and retheme it all to Roswell KI. Food for thought

In my opinion, that aspect of the ride always separated WWC from any other ride in the park, there was true "guest interaction" with each other. I don't know if the change in cost/format has lead to more or less people blasting the canyons, but if its less (and I can only imagine that it is) that lessens the ride to an extent, makes it less fun, makes people possibly want to ride it less because they don't feel the need to get back at another guest.

To be fair, it should happen NEVER, so even once is more than it should. I can't even fathom what would posses someone to grab a hold of a turd and wipe it on the walls.

Aug 2nd is National Beer day. Has a coaster ever been themed to beer (maybe they pull a switcheroo and we're actually getting the brown track) Aug 3rd is Grab Some Nuts day..... Aug 4th is national forgiveness day, when they make up for the previous day's announcement of the Sad Clown coaster by announcing a 500 foot tall, multi looping Intamin As you can see, there are all kind of days to start teasing and/or make an announcement.

The apollo 11 mission launched from Cape Canaveral (sp?) at 9:32 am 50 years ago today...would be a great time to start placing teasers

Thanks Nutterie for the pic, any chance that track could have been staged for the back portion of the ride, meaning that the crane that set it in place picked it up from that point, ie, it didn't have to be relocated from that point to another point for final install?
