  1. Since we get the choice, it's a convenience for me if I'm in a hurry. Now, if only I could get a drink deal without having to carry that miserable plastic cup around the park!
  2. I distinctly remember the A/C, no much else. lol...
  3. But.. I HAVE received my tax refund! Woo Hoo!
  4. I cannot compete with those horror stories! I've managed to use our KI Platinum Passes (albeit when all of the parks were open for the season) at Carowinds, KD and CP with absolutely no issues. They hinted a problems last year at CP since we hadn't gotten new pictures done in a while (renewals activate the existing pass - no need to process through Season Pass processing). Apparently they thought maybe the passes didn't belong to my sons at Soak City @ CP - but they let us in anyway and suggested we get the pictures updated. We attempted to do so while at CP but they told us they can't do that (that ought to be fixed!). So, we did it next time at KI. My horror story was from when Cedar Fair took over from Paramount. The fall preceding that event they took the 'hard cards' and issued paper 'temporary passes'. That was the extent of the dialogue, discussion, and communication. I had *no* idea I'd need those pieces of paper (used to let us in that last operating day) the next spring. They would not make it right even though I had my credit card receipt - they apparently could not find us in the system. I suspect that they had misspelled my name, but no way to tell. Drove 40 miles back home, found 3 of the 4 temporary passes. Drove back. They happily made passes for 3 of us, mine they could not do without a 'lost pass' fee. I wasn't going to pay that fee, as I had not yet received a pass for that season! When I went over to Guest Relations to find an adult, the 'supervisor' at pass processing raced over and asked them not to take care of me. I saw the security guys circling and tightening. Went home, wrote a letter to Cedar Fair corporate (had zero impact, did not even garner a response). In July I conceded, because I wanted to hit the park. Walked up, credit card receipt in hand, $20 in hand, told my tail. They apologized, could not find me in the system, pushed all of the documentation and my $20 back along with a ticket, apologized and asked me to process through season pass processing. Worked the next week, didn't have parking on it the week after. Went back to season pass processing. "Can I help you?"... "I seriously doubt it, but am willing to try!" - relayed the long story. 'Oz' behind the curtain instructed them to put parking on my pass. All was well in the world after only half a season lost. All because I couldn't speak to an adult in Guest Relations. Did NOT renew the following year, but have since. Things have much improved in my experience.
  5. And... some of us old farts actually have that record on (yep, I said it...) vinyl!
  6. I'm actually with Don on that. I love to use KI as a place to practice as a photographer. You have all kinds of opportunities, landscape, action, low-light, macro - and the gardening is a big part of that. Beyond that hobby, I see parents and grandparents enjoying those areas and displays while younger folks ride the rides. I think Don's right on this one!
  7. Interesting discussion on this thread. Out of curiosity, how many does Timberwolf seat in the 'real' seats - not behind the control board? Some of the shows that have developed a following might work in the lower half of the venue - if it still works (?).
  8. Saw Skeleton Crew last night, and I was hoping for a show on-par with CP's version. I was completely blown away! Great job KI on that show, it surpassed the CP version in every way. Awesome lighting, incredible performances, and it maintained the great soundtrack. If you haven't seen it you should, it'll be playing to packed houses soon.
  9. Ahhh, the Flying Eagles, which we rode at Carowinds (and yes, we popped the cables because there was nobody telling us NOT to ala CP!). I miss them so...
  10. I will definitely check it out - would have gone down over the weekend if I'd know it was operating!
  11. ^^ This. Imagine my son's expression when I asked him why he was trying to get onto my phone. Lookout takes a pic with the front-facing camera when the wrong security code is entered, and emails it to you! Also will kill the phone's data remotely.
  12. Man, Terp - there are two kinds of luck in the world! I had to 'test' my KI-issued pass at KD a couple of years ago, since we could walk from the hotel to the gate faster than the shuttle could get us there. Sure enough - it opened the 'pass parking' gate. Of course I had no way to make the darned thing close (it timed out)! Guess my luck was all positive that year.
  13. That's one mangled cup! We took our purple Banshee cup to CP a couple of weeks ago. They asked whether we purchased it that day (CPs are purple as well), and of course we said 'no'. They then offered to 'recharge' the all-day barcode for $5. I haven't asked about that at KI, but that's pretty sweet. We usually go in a group of 3 and on a hot day the drinks water-down pretty fast, so being able to change drinks or get a fresh one at will really offsets the annoyance of carrying the thing down there.
  14. I enjoyed the kiddie pens back in my under 48" days, honest. My pet peeves are: -People's lack of knowledge on lightning -Guest (typicaly high schoolers) who think the midway is a fashion rumway. I once saw someone replying her makeup while walking as her friend guided her through the crowd. -The need to bring ones whole life into the park. -People who don't pause for the playing of the national anthem Those kiddie pens... I can't stand seeing a child in those, it almost looks like they are in jail, like KI Fanatic said, I just want to go give them a hug. I couldn't imagine my child having to sit in one of those just so I can ride a roller coaster. I could... and did. Rode the helicopters in Planet Snoopy enough times, there was much give and take in the family relationship. It wasn't exactly 'traumatic' for my sons, who grew up to love roller coasters. Perhaps because they got to see that they were FUN and not so SCARY, who knows?
  15. I probably ruined that with my own BOGOs on Johnsonville! But there was much confusion. 10% is at *all* food locations in the park according to the web site, which gives better options and can still add up. I'm still hoping for Boardwalk fries with Old Bay seasoning tho!
  16. My kids nearly always find change on the ground, and I've no problem with letting them keep it (after they wash their hands). I once turned away from what must be the last ATM on the planet that actually takes your card while you do a transaction (at the KI front gate!), and the cretins who found it didn't turn it in. They were up to around $60 worth when I shut it off. I figure Karma will take care of them eventually, but it sure did cause me to lose faith in my fellow man. For paper money I'll look for the 'Oh crap, I dropped my money' look, and try to re-unite the owner with property if I see it. A large amount would get turned in to GS, small amounts $10 or so) will get turned into profit for KI most likely.
  17. I imagine it just a little like your avatar!
  18. Ok, I didn't see a 'vote' that matched but... I would *love* to see a Boardwalk Fries stand, and a Johnsonville stand in the park. I like fast, inexpensive, and made-to-order. I hate waiting in huge lines for rides, and then in huge lines for food. Boardwalk fries are made to order and I'll wait a little for that - they're never just sitting under a heatlamp (fries only last about 5 minutes that way) - and the ones at KD have all sorts of seasonings to put on them - Cajun, Old Bay, Garlic salt, etc. The Johnsonville Brat stands at CP are excellent, fast, and tasty and they offer Platinum Perks (BOGO) on them!
  19. I think they once had real live folks and soft drinks/refills at the beginning of the queue for Beast, but I'm not sure I liked it. People either blocked the queue while they were being served, or wanted to 'catch up with their group' after they got whatever they were after, which is a little like encouraging line-jumping to some. Some would re-join the line at the point where the refreshment line was, which usually was ok with everybody, but it's probably better to keep all that prior to the queue line.
  20. Interesting to watch the thread... Don Quixote comes right out of the buildings near Starbucks... seems kinda Spanish to me. German stuff near the Festhaus, lots of French stuff. Loved the theming back in the day. And the 'vine tunnel' between the kids area and River Town... times change. Some for the better, some less so. Love KI either way though!
  21. Don, I love ya, but if I decide I can't/won't eat the chicken, or pretzel, funnel cake or whatever, I will share with my son (he's a human garbage disposal). I won't feel guilty or criminal in the least. So long as I don't defraud KI, I can't see a problem (and I love KI). Two meals, with the time constraints, don't constitute fraud in my mind, regardless of whether I eat them or I share.
  22. Heard the same from a friend of mine. Can't believe they're out of hard cards in April/May!
  23. Wow, hopefully they'll clear up the confusion by standardizing the program - and if they went WITH the drinks for the season long plan that would be great and I believe I'd pull the trigger. I *hate* having to carry those cups around the park all season! They're a huge PIA when you hit the rides w/o bins and all want to ride, especially since the only option is for somebody to hold them or to rent the lockers (one more up-charge).
