  1. I was told by a good source that it was a miss calculation, I believe the Red side drop was removed a year after the Blue was.
  2. I think the porta-jon discussion is a sore subject, we better put a lid on it. All pun intended.
  3. My Racer wish list would be paint along with putting the last drops back in with their head choppers.
  4. One of my favorite lines from The Jerk " ladies and gentlemen step right up pay a dollar and win ten cents worth of crap".
  5. I think Cedar Fair's biggest investment after buying Paramount out was on trash cans. It seemed like I was always wading through trash in those days.
  6. Ah I better let that one go, wouldn't want to be un-PC.. I thought the vine tunnel was so cool would love to see something like that again.
  7. An electric motor makes peak torque at 0 rpm it also draws maximum amperage at 0 rpm due to the longer dwell time. Higher amperage creates higher temperature and stresses all the circuits, so starting an electric motor at maximum load causes more stress on all parts of the circuit. I do realize that the train is empty on start up but there still is a significant load.
  8. ACE still shows it at their online store, I didn't have to log in to get to the store. Maybe they have some available still, it's down to $18.00.
  9. It was put out by American Coaster Enthusiasts, if you're not a member it may be available at Amazon. I'll have to read it again now.
  10. I don't know of any books about John Allen, but he followed in Herb Schmeck's footsteps at PTC so the book Herbert P. Scmeck The Forgotten Legacy would be a good read for you. If you are near Columbus I could lend it to you. The biggest thing I know is from Don Helbig telling us on a Beast tour that the secret to his success and his ride's longevity was that he placed his high stress elements close to the ground. Another trait of his was to have low floaty hills instead of a series of high hills. He passed this on to KI when The Beast was being planned, he also gave the crew at Ki his formulas and calculations on a place mat or menu at the International Street Restaurant when they were trying to coax him out of retirement. As a result all of the high speed turns and helix are very low.
  11. They didn't show that kind of stuff back then, you had to imagine it.
  12. No offense Don but they had a better looking PR person then.
  13. I rode GK five times Friday night and the vests don't tighten, it made it a lot more comfortable. I'll see what Wild Eagle's do in a few months.
  14. I saw a guy have a chunk taken out of his left hand in the left seat when they were filming for Insane Coaster Wars, he hit the side wall with it. I am a repeat offender as well and have had no issues.
  15. Build an impound lot and tow cars from the bus/rv parking to increase revenue and drop Fast Lane.
  16. I heard someone saying they got to re-ride because they went to buy a picture and it had been blocked due to someone making an obscene gesture, but I don't remember what park it was at.
  17. I don't know how many can relate to this, but you drive a truck ball joint out with one blow and think the bell should have rung.
  18. The dentist tilts your chair back and you think you're on Firehawk.
  19. If you see a ball of string and you think of Flight of Fear.
  20. You forgot to mention it wasn't a day you had to walk 14 miles to school up hill both ways...because that's the way it was for me. Oh it also snowed everyday from September through June.
  21. I don't know how to post links but on Ultimate Rollercoaster there is a 35 years ago today thread with a 1979 pre opening run. There were no trims on the helix hill and interestingly enough the train barely made it up the final hill and actually had assist motors to get it to the brakes. I guess the 4 bench trains must have scrubbed off more speed in the turns as it was noticeably slower before the second lift, of course the empty weight probably contributed also. It was also neat to see the original lower banking on the first turn.
  22. The only thing this thread is missing at this point is a yo mama. There I said it.
  23. If it doesn't fit in my pockets I don't need it.
