  1. The whole deal is amazing to me.My dad died at 50 in 1977. This procedure would have saved him, heart catheterazation was new then and arterial bypass surgery was only done at 2 hospitals in the country. Now this gets handled quicker than you can get your oil changed at a Jiffy Lube. This will be my last off topic post.
  2. I'm very sorry about what happened to your mother in law, and I understand the circumstance. I hope she is doing well! Hopefully I do it right this time, She collapsed at a resturant, there was a nurse from the hospital that's within a mile of the resturant at the next table that took care of her immediately and stayed with the medic during transport. She had an artery 99% blocked they placed a stint (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) and she was awake like nothing happened within an hour and a half and is back home now. Not bad for 91 years old. Thanks for understanding.
  3. Sorry, jcgoble3 understands my confusion. I was in a hurry posting my wife called while I was in the middle of it to say she was out of town with her mother and her mother had a heart attack so I didn't take time to proof read it. Hopefully you all can be more perfect in the same circumstance.
  4. You shouldn't have to take more time out of your visit to go to guest relations to explain what should be a minimum expectation. With all the blue shirts I see walking around I would think there should be some observation to see how guests are treated. Before I hear about low wages I would like hear from some members here that live in the Cedar Point area that may have been to Summit Motorsports Park. The track there uses some wierd law that allows them to pay less than minimum wage. Dispite that the employees are always friendly and bend over backwards to serve their guests. The owners are also no stranger to the guests, they are always visible thanking everyone they can for coming. Another note you can't get any of the employees speak poorly of their employer.
  5. Am I the only one that recognized the girl named Charity as one of the cast from Way Too Much TV at Kings Island the last few years?
  6. My memory of the first rime I rode it was that I felt like I had ridden it before... then I realized that I had belore they put the wrapper on it. Still a fun ride though.
  7. I understand that food prices are high, the part I can't understand is why when you're willing to pay the price they are so slow serving you. If I were in management there I would want you in and served before you could change your mind, I guess being something approaching friendly is to much to ask for also.
  8. I was there yesterday and it was the biggest crowd I've seen during the week. Diamondback was posted as 30 minute wait actually took 15 minutes, The Beast was posted as 30 minutes and took 35 one time and 45 another. Vortex was lined out of the station I don't know how long that wait was and WindSeeker was pretty full. You can buy passes several places in the park so check out the waits first.
  9. Indiana didn't set clocks ahead for daylight saving time until several years ago so Indianapolis used to be an hour behind in the summer.
  10. Seems like it gets more loosely as time goes by. Runs clockwise instead of counterclockwise, reprofiled to accomodate waterslides and in desperate need of retracking. I still would like to give it a spin.
  11. This was my first adult coaster, it was called the Space Rocket or something similar to that. It had the old buzz bars that actually weren't locked in the station they were locked by an arm on the back of each car that got flipped by a worn out piece of plywood as it rolled out. Needless to say they didn't always lock and the one in my car didn't, and my buddy was quick to show me that the bar wasn't locked. I was scared to death but he was loud enough about it that the OP stopped the lift and came up and locked it. Those were the days like Jeff Foxworthy says "when the kids weren't too good to fly out the windshield with rest of the family".
  12. I agree except that I would relocate and re theme it in the Action Zone.
  13. I'm sorry ....but, No No No No No No No No No No No No No NO NO NO!!! You keep your thoughts for expansion out from: In/Around/Near/Above/Below/On/Out/Close/Beside or with a 33 and a 1/2ft pole of The Beast. Those grounds are Sacred! LOL! Actually there is a long section of riverfront area that would be a great spot for a recreation of the Shooting Star.
  14. When I rode it in September '79 it seemed like it had sled brakes on the first hill and rows of tires riding on the sides of the trains in the shed and I can't remember if it had any going into the helix. It does seem like the helix profile was different and the helix was not enclosed. The trains had four bench seats so they would scrub off a little speed in the turns.
  15. I'm glad to see someone around my age on here. my first was the Teddy Bear at Coney Island. My family lived in Louisville at the time and we didn't make it there in '70 or '71 so I never got to ride the Shooting Star.
  16. Diamondback practically rolls backstage.
  17. Mine was in the auction before the park opened. Great ride even thou it was 40 degrees. I couldn't believe the way the line went around by the Eiffel Tower and back by Vortex.
  18. I can't agree more about The Racer. The good news is the red side is still fairly smooth in my mind due to lower ridership during it's backward days. It's appearance is even more sad to me since I was able to see the original model for Kings Island when I was 8 or 9 while visiting Coney Island. I was joking with my wife there Saturday night since we drag race also that they should change The Racer's name to the bye run since it seems rare that both sides are running. Flight Deck and Adventure Express have an even bigger step child appearance these days but neither of them have the place in roller coaster history The Racer has. I'm actually surprised they are still operating.
  19. Great to see Gary get 7K. I've ridden with him several times also, he is a great guy and I hate seeing anyone question his integrity or the way he spends his time. He is beyond retirement age and still works he has lived a life and doesn't need to get one. Maybe some of the Facebook haters need to get off Facebook and get the life they suggest for others. If nothing else he should be an insperation to people I'm going to be 50 in a couple of weeks and hope I have his energy and spirit in 20 years.
  20. When Old Coney Island closed they had surveyed the Shooting Star and The Beast was originally going to be a replica of it, I think it's time to pull the trigger on that one and get it done
  21. Adding to the ground issues would be that is a fast low level turn with a lot of side loading and the steel supports are short and can't flex enough so all the side force goes direct;y into the footers and the ground.
  22. I rode the train this morning and could see a lot of excavating by the first helix.
  23. My favorite was on The Beast when the ride op said we will turn you upside down not once, twice but no times.
