  1. 1. Bathrooms THEME. Use Music and buildings and dress for each area of the park. 2. Start rebuild of SOB.. why buy another steel coaster like everyone else has when they could get something distinctive happening? 3. Logflume in Rivertown. 4. Focus of getting a new flat every year in Coney Mall, perhaps bringing back some of the old flatrides that are still around that people can ride as a family, Tumble Bug, Spinning Ride... these things must still be around and operable for pretty cheap. 5. Dark Ride in Rivertown, Zombie theme in general is a brilliant idea. Something a little scarier than for the kiddos, but still a "family friendly" ride in the a/c
  2. it was just randomly on someone's Pinterest. It reads on the site that it was a promotional booklet put together by HB to sell merchandise in 1979.
  3. I have never ever ever been to The Beach, growing up in Cincinnati. How wrong is that? But I bet a million to one some of the bits end up at Jungle Jims!
  4. You are all so savvy you've probably seen this before, but in case you haven't... how cool is this? http://www.flickr.com/photos/kerrytoonz/5345109701/in/photostream/
  5. The Glockenspiel? On the Festhaus? Is the clockworks gone?
  6. That's The Beast I remember! Thank you for that!
  7. I'd love to see the vintage boards games next time someone is up and could snap a sneaky snap.
  8. well done you! I'm on the train with ya at the moment, working hard! I use www.fitday.com as it tracks EVERYTHING for you and puts it in a little pie chart and I find it really useful and better for keeping me in check if I actually write everything down properly. I love it tracks your exercise against your baseline metabolic rate and food eaten for the day, week, month, etc.
  9. You don't! i can promise you times a billion. Unless you actually lived AT Pleasure Beach and never had to venture outside of it. Why not a nice little place in Buckinghamshire, equal distance between Thorpe Park and Alton Towers instead? I hope to make a move back to Northern Kentucky one day.... probably when hell freezes over, or the Olympics force all life to leave this island... but someday!
  10. Been there many times and done that. I avoid JFK and then Atlanta if at all possible! No thanks! Are you down Gawja, Terp?
  11. As kids, mom used to sneak food in under the stroller... long after my youngest brother was not stroller age :/ We always had hot, smashed pb&j and salami and mustard sandwiches... I mean completely banged to bit and usually a bit soggy that we would eat again in the car on the way home. To this day i think they taste better that way. I think riding The Beast last every night sounds lovely! I don't remember doing it more than a few times. What a perfect way to end the day.
  12. Sorry Medford, I missed your post. I've tried many times to do Dayton, Louisville and Indy and I've never been lucky enough to get a cheaper flight. In the summer, we fly through Detroit on KLM/Delta and at Christmas we fly USAirways through Charlotte (in my mind, it's more chance of avoiding weather). Either way it's EXPENSIVE! I remember when I could hunt and find a transatlantic for $300 in a good sale!
  13. "International" is pushing it. They fly to Canada and Mexico. Even CVG that was the big "International" only goes to Paris daily now (and for how long, I wonder?). I'm quite bitter the daily London Gatwick was dropped a few years ago. Thanks for the tips, though! I used to go to KI a couple of times a week as a kid and Chessington World of Adventure, while fun for the little ones, is a bit of a snooze so I think they'll love KI. Christy is 3 in June and he's just under 39" in bare feet. Thomas is 41 1/2 in barefeet, but I know he would love the bigger rides if I went on with him. Have they raised the height requirements? That seems awfully tall and I remember riding The Racer very very young. errrr Is it better to try for the bracelet to let him ride all day or take your chances at different rides hoping they'll get on them at the platform? Do they allow you to bring food into the park? They didn't used to, but it was so long ago. Is there still a good picnic area? Thanks!!xx
  14. I'm originally from Cincinnati/Northern KY, so I'm well aware of flying into KY, but good tip. I'd like to take my 4 year old on some of the bigger rides, Racer and Adventure Express ok for 42"? Anything else he'd really enjoy? Discount tickets anywhere? Thanks x
  15. So I am definitely going to to KI when I'm in the States next month. I'd love some advice about the best day to go mid-week... any little tricks as we'll be paying admission. Also, my boys are 3 and 4. The 4 year old is 41" in bare feet, so thinking in a month's time in shoes he'd be alright for the 42" stuff? Love to hear what you guys think! xx
  16. Is that what happens in the dark tunnel where everyone screams their heads off? How do you all know so much about coasters!? I'm super-impressed. Lots of travelling?
  17. I was invited to this thing to go along to Alton Towers and i blew it off. Then i started looking at the website of these coasters and think I have to go. Why is it so different? Was watching POV online before. THey have one where you laydown as well. CRIPES! Sorry, didn't mean to derail your thread.
  18. I was just looking at going to Alton Towers in Staffordshire in August and it looks like they have a suspended with inversions? Am I seeing it wrong, has anyone ever been? Nemesis? Air looks freaky too. Those are some serious coasters.
  19. So what is the difference between a "mega" and a "giga" coaster? oh, and a "hyper"
  20. McScrappy's Farm! I totally forgot about that and the house of cards. I was too little to be in there and got knocked down in the punching bags all the time.
  21. Love this! I know we had one kicking around the house for a very long time, but bet it's been thrown out now.
  22. Do they still do the "tastes great", "less filling" thing on the Viking Ship?
  23. I'm certain a wee bit of Rush was played in The Beast queue back in the day!
  24. I would strongly recommend against the Cincy chili like Skyline. I'm a native and I can't eat it anymore (though not for trying!) and my English husband can't take it either. Maybe get one and split it for the experience and just a taste.
