  1. Welcome to KIC! You asked what are the best coasters, and that's a very subjective question as everyone has their own opinion. For me, I'd say Banshee, The Bat, Firehawk, Flight of Fear, The Beast and Adventure Express are "the best". Make sure to hop on Vortex too as its a pretty good ride as well. Also, the overall, the three most popular coasters at the park are Banshee, Diamondback and The Beast. Enjoy your trip!
  2. That would be interesting to see Dorney get a new coaster since their last install was Stinger back in 2012.
  3. This is a great idea, PhantomTheater. I really like the "New-to-me" category because at least 21 rides fit into this category! In fact, I'll think some of these awards will be best "New to me ____". My awards are as follows: Best "new" invert: Great Bear at Hersheypark Best "new-to-me" night ride: WindSeeker at Kings Island, runner up: Comet at Hersheypark Best "new" launch coaster: Storm Runner at Hersheypark Best "icon" coaster (Edge of the Millennium ride): Lightning Racer at Hersheypark Best "new" flat: Meteor at Dorney Park, runner up: Woodstock's Glider's at Kings Island Best "new" Wild Mouse: Wild Mouse at Hersheypark Best Food (new): Chickie and Pete's, Dorney Park Best "new" old-school wooden coaster: Comet at Hersheypark Now for some not-so-new existing awards: Most Improved ride experience: Flight of Fear, Kings Island The Nostalgia Award: The Bat at Kings Island Best show: Cirque Imagine at Kings Island Best Waterslide: Pineapple Pipeline, Kings Island, runner up: Snake Pit- Dorney Park Most-anticipated-for-2016 award: Switchback at ZTD's, runner-up: Superman is back at Six Flags New England The "Don't believe the hype" award: Skyrush, Hersheypark Best park: Hersheypark, runner-up: Kings Island
  4. Looks cool. I can't believe we've come to the age where we now have a shuttle wooden* coaster! *I know it's technically a hybrid, but whatever the classification, it's still cool... I think it's the first shuttle to have a traditional lift and go thru the course like normal before going backwards the way it came (yes, Thirteen and the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars coaster both have significant backwards sections, but not as far as they go back to the station).
  5. Since it's about that time, I thought this flashback intro video was appropriate https://web.archive.org/web/20001110110500/http://www.pki.com/attractions_fearfest.jsp NOTE: The actual site does not work, but this intro video does. It is loud, so make sure to turn the speakers down if you wish.
  6. I'm going to go with The Bat (formally known as Top Gun)... only because I've ridden it 81 times since I started counting back in 2010 and probably loads of times before then. Another close frontrunner would probably be Adventure Express. EDIT: Talking about The Bat at Kings Island.
  7. Valravn looks cool, and a bit longer that I'd previously thought.

    Dollar Days

Ok, so quoting won't work on my phone... oh well! What I was going to say was if the Sweep who dances is who I think he is, he is truely and amazing dancer. He even beat me in a danceoff on Closing Day!
  9. Ok, gotcha. I just misunderstood the concept of BOGO for a second.
  10. And this is with slightly more expensive deals at KI ($1 soft drinks vs. free soft drinks)... Also, I was searching to find info on if KK's bring a friend day was bring a friend free or not (as KI's was/is not), and I saw an ad for Disney in a advert box that said "Searching for Kentucky Kingdom?" I kid you not...
  11. Dude, I felt withdrawal during the weeks leading up to yesterday's KI trip and I'd been gone from the park from about 2-3 weeks (whenever the last Cirque show was). You got this!
  12. I think I saw him yesterday. He waited just behind me at Auntie Anne's (I-Street location) and also saw the same guy at the Haunt jobs booth in front of the KI Theater.
  13. I got back from the park a little while ago and had a jam-packed day. My day at the park started with a tall (that's a small for those that don't speak the Starbucks language! ) Vanilla Bean Frap and 2 rounds each of Firehawk and Flight of Fear. By the way, did I mention Flight of Fear is running the best it's ever been? Made it to every coaster outside of Planet Snoopy (with the exception of Diamondback) plus Congo Falls, Zephyr, Drop Tower, Boo Blasters and Delirium. I also saw a great show of Off The Charts, met up with Goble for a short time, and ended the day with an epic 4-ride Bat marathon. EDIT: I forgot I also rode Monster. Unfortunately, I didn't get much spin and I think the white "floorboards" under the black exterior bottom might be to blame. These must have been added during the refurbishment. Can anyone enlighten me on this- whether it is this or I just wasn't trying hard enough? Thanks.
  14. Also, I meant to add this to my previous post, but it seems to make more sense to RMC the Roar at Six Flags America than SFDK. I mean, West Coast Roar seemed to be in pretty good condition and RMCing the East Coast Roar may have had a chance at improving Six Flags America's image. Yes, Wicked Cyclone is a few states away while the nearest Cali RMC is Twisted Colossus in SoCal, but I would rather a unique RMC be built at SFDK rather than what already happened (the removal of Roar for Joker). But, what's done is done, and we can't go back now... EDIT: Watched another vid of it and I'm starting to warm up to the idea. At the same time, my above thoughts still ring true.
  15. Watched the Joker POV... still makes me sad the coaster's not ROARing through the track anymore. Sigh... Now I know how those that enjoyed other RMC-ed creations in their past lives felt...
  16. Pinch me I must be dreaming... Superman is back!!!! Also, 2 parks getting 3 rides each? Wow! Also, throw in a 4-D coaster to the mix and you've got a great lineup.
  17. I'd love to see a campground back at the park... I never went to the old campgrounds, but that would be awesome waking up to The Bat or The Beast or whatever ride a new campground would be close to.
  18. Thunder Run is amazing and Lightning Run is good too. The water park has a very unique selection of water slides that are worth checking out. Have not yet ridden T3, so I can't comment on that. I didn't try a ton of the flat (non-coaster) rides, though Fearfall is pretty fun. Also, the locker system at Kentucky Kingdom is really cool as there is a bracelet that opens the locker (instead of having to remember a password).
  19. I agree, Lightning Racer is amazing. #teamlightning! I bet it would be crazy fun at night; my only Hershey night rides have been Comet and Great Bear (another ride I love!)
  20. Seriously!?!?!? Even though I was on my phone last time I was in line (on KIC no less...), I appreciate the video and the lack thereof (at least in my mind) lessens the experience/nostalgia. EDITed for word choice
  21. (In reference to Delirium 2018's question) When I went through last year, there was! It was towards the beginning of the maze- the second room I think it was. Don't know if the lights were intended to be off, but it was really dark. EDITed for spelling; sorry, I was on my smartphone when I original typed this...
  22. I don't know if I'll be trying this maze; seems scary. The pitch-black section in Board to Death was enough for me. A whole maze like this... nope!* *Well, maybe I'd try it once, but if it's anything like how upstop is setting the scene to be, then probably not. I'll just stick to Carnevil and Slaughterhouse, thank you very much! (However, I would like to try Madame Fatale's this year...)
  23. Tough question, and probably purely subjective. To me, Rougarou and The Bat aren't new coaster credits to me. However, if I had ridden Cyclone at SFNE before it became Wicked Cyclone, I'd count each as a new coaster credit if I had ridden both "versions" of the ride. However, when Son of Beast's loop was removed, I didn't count this as a new credit, but I did make a note in my personal coaster count that says I rode it both with and without the loop. I've never ridden a coaster that I've ridden in a former location yet (think someone who has ridden both X-Flight at Geagua Lake and Firehawk here), so I don't know if I'll classify the ride as "new" when I've ridden it at a new location. That's just my 2 cents on the issue.
