  1. Good stuff; glad you enjoyed yourself! And yes, going to theme parks on weekdays are great at weekends at the parks can get pretty crowded.
  2. Adding to the discussion of the souvenir cups being sold in one place, I did notice that Hank's Back Porch (the bar across from Adventure Express) was out of souvenir cups as the man in front of me tried to buy one. Also, I had a fantastic day. Started in the waterpark with minimal waits on my favorite water slides, then did Diamondback, Bat, Gliders, visited the Petting Farm, Vortex, 5:00 Cirque, Banshee, and ended the day was a 5-ride marathon on The Bat! Finally, I noticed Beast's line was pretty long today (like, to the lower queue). EDIT: I forgot to mention, I got plenty of exercise as I hiked from Bat all the way to Soak City lockers to eat lunch (I got Subway).
  3. I would love to see a Tilt-a-Whirl at KI! I loved the ones at Stricker's and Dorney! A roundup would also be amazing! And although it's not listed in the article, some spinning teacups would also be amazing!
  4. Has Superman always had a single rider line? If so, I could've used this when I went back in '08. Oh well...
  5. ***Before I start this post, I'd like to put some disclaimers out there: The only time I went to SFGAM was in 2008 for two days (well, technically one and a half days). Also, I've never been to Holiday World.*** That being said, I loved SFGAM when I went. Some of my faves were Batman, Viper, V2 and Whizzer. Viper has tons of airtime and Whizzer is sort of like a mine-train/terrain coaster with a spiral lift. Raging Bull is fun and Chubasco (tea cups) are amazing as well. Dark Knight is fun, but NOT worth the two hours I had to wait on it's opening year. Iron Wolf is no longer there, and the park is better for it. There's a reason why there was a short line when the rest of the park was jam-packed during that first half-day (Superman was almost full queue that day). Also, Rajun Cajun was fun, but unfortunately, it's now lost to the sands of time. I don't know what hotel you're planning to stay at, but CoCo Key was nice, if only for the tickets that came with the room (I think?). I'd like to go back again to try X-Flight and Goliath and to ride Viper and Batman again. On the other hand, Holiday World has 4 coasters that get good reviews and an extensive waterpark. I'm actually planning a trip for next year and pairing it with a Kentucky Kingdom trip (assuming KK opens next year... alternate plan will most likely be KI). And there's the free stuff, which is always good!
  6. Best night rides: Millennium Force and Magnum. My first-ever ride on MF was at night and it was crazy awesome! Also, Maverick is awesome because Maverick. That being said, I don't know/remember if I've ridden it as night. However, I would really like to experience TTD at night and I suppose Iron Dragon or Gatekeeper after dark would be cool too.
  7. Yes. It's called "Ants" by edIT and it's a fantastic song. However, I think only most of the first part of the song plays during the routine (there is a audible "break" around the 2:30 mark that separates the two parts).
  8. Went by there today around 6:30ish and the parking lot looked super-packed as some people were parking out in the grass (close to the road, near Soak City lot).
  9. Dude, I still listen to that CD; in fact, I listened to part of a song driving to work this morning! Gotta love *Nsync... part (well, 95%) of the reason why I loved The Boyz are Back so much was 'cause I grew up when Nsync and Backstreet Boys were huge and that show was like seeing *Nsync in concert for me!
  10. Well, that stinks. I just found out on FB that Club Blood was leaving us! I remember partying to some Katy Perry before getting the crap scared out of me later that night in the same maze. Here's to the first real club I've ever been to! At least wee still have Sam!
  11. I think FastPay is only at Dorney. I picked up a brochure when I went there. And on the subject on TLC, did you know that Left-Eye's last song was a guest rap on *Nsync's "Space Cowboys"?
  12. Homestar, thanks for sharing that story. Now I know why Vortex is "bae" for you. In all seriousness, I don't know if I have that much fondness for a coaster... my love for The Bat (1993) comes close, but not as close as you and Vortex.
  13. I never knew that; good to know!
  14. So long Thunder Road; I only had one ride on ya back in 2001 and I only rode forwards because I was too scared to try backwards. I don't remember much about the ride, only that your claim to fame was that you crossed two states. But now, your state has become like that of a ride that was now ironically in the same park you were (for those who don't know, Stealth at (then) Paramount's Great America was removed for expansion of the waterpark as well). And now you're gone. I know some both remember you and miss you much, much more than I, and it will be weird not seeing you on the skyline like I remember that one time looking out from my hotel window at the park, but we'll survive, just like we always do. When King Cobra was removed, I was saddened, but I came to accept the loss and I really love Delirium. And I'm sure we'll love what's next for Carowinds. And Kings Dominion. And Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Sadly, time marches on. So long, Thunder Road. -MDMC, waxing poetic about a now lost giant among coasters EDIT: PS: Sentimentality aside, I do find it odd that a racing coaster was removed as those are pretty unique.
  15. I'd go with Bat, since it's a really fun ride and it was one of my go-to coasters when I was a kid. If she's not afraid of launches, I'd also have her try Backlot. And although Adventure Express was also one of my go-to coasters when I was a kid, I wouldn't recommend it at first as it might bring up bad memories of Big Thunder Mountain; however, if she ends up liking coasters again, I'd definitely recommend it.
  16. Sorry I'm a little late posting (went to bed super-early yesterday), but I just wanted to share some highlights from Saturday's trip (think of this as an abbreviated trip report): -On the way to The Bat, I noticed Club Blood looked as though it had been painted a different color; hmmm.... -I got a Vanilla Bean Frap at Starbucks and it was as great as it was last time; I even got a brain freeze! I just wish they'd put more drink and less foam though... -Goble won a Front of the Line pass for two which we promptly used for Flight of Fear, which was a good ride. -Cirque was great as usual; caught the 3:30 show. I still think the new act is my favorite this year- the music is great, the talent is great, everything is awesome about it! -Went to the Petting Farm about a half hour after Cirque and got to pet most of the animals; I'm still a bit intmidated by the llamas/alpacas. I also learned that the animals in the pasture (stage left if you are inside the Petting Farm, to the right if you are looking down in Planet Snoopy) should not be pet as it's their day off. -Saw two showings of "Off the Charts"; the 9:30 show was amazing as there was a dance party during "Uptown Funk" and one of the girl singers completely rocked on "Changed" -Rode the Carousel in a carriage, which made for a slighly more intense ride. -Met fellow KICer Skyrider for the first time -Got a great night ride on White Water Canyon; I "complained" about how slow the current was moving, and then got owned by the first big water splash! Not surprisingly, I got the wettest out of the four of us riding (myself, Goble, Skyrider and goki) -Had a great Vortex night ride and then had my first night ride on WindSeeker. It was very peaceful up there, and defintely prefer it at night. -Ended the night with Blue Racer, Adventure Express (which was amazing) and a back row ride on Banshee!
  17. To agree with TombRaider FTW's sentiments, this is why I love this site. Catching up on the stage's status just now gave me a good laugh.
  18. Call me a hater, but I wasn't too big of a fan of American Eagle when I went in 2008 and it wouldn't hurt me very much to see it go. I can understand being sad about losing American Eagle for nostalgic reasons, but for me, it doesn't mean all that much. However, I would be sad if great woodies like Racer, Beast, Viper (SFGAM), Lightning Racer or Thunder Run bit the dust. For a period of time, I was actually pretty ticked about the possible RMC-conversion of Roar, a ride I've never even been on. TLDR: I don't feel the same way as some do about American Eagle, but I understand.
  19. I had KI's Blue Ice Cream once while on break. It was surpringly good, but I prefer KI's vanilla ice cream better. -MDMC, who might be getting a sweet treat of the Starbucks variety when he gets to the park later...
  20. Or Hershey... -MDMC, remembering that attempted Fahrenheit selfie.
  21. Dorney's Thunderhawk was amazing! It had some great ejector air and I really wish I would have ridden it a second time!
  22. Unfortunately, while we are ROARing about the new RMC hybrids taking life from wooden coasters we have yet to try, these conversions have already been set in motion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And more related to the question at hand, I originally voted for giga, but I changed my answer after riding the awesomeness that is Lightning Racer . I want a twisty wooden coaster (with Lightning Racer's smoothness) and I want it NOW, Daddy! -MDMC, channeling Verruca Salt.
  23. I just got back from the park and had a blast! Though it was pretty crowded (because Saturday), I still got to enjoy a decent amount of rides/attractions. Highlights include: my first ever Starbucks drink (thanks Tb!), Slingshot, petting the adorable piglet at the Petting Farm, Delirium, Dodgem, Banshee's insane line (approx. 1 hour wait, but she was still worth it!), Cirque Imagine, and Blue Racer. I also took 2 flights on The Bat, which was pretty fun.
  24. Waiting for 3:30 Cirque now, but before that I sat and listened to the guy drum on the paintcans; he's pretty awesome!
