  1. I like most of the layout and the inversion fly-by, but I feel like those last two inversions as is kill the pacing as the ride ends shortly after that. Perhaps have some more track (maybe a helix or something) between the two barrel rolls or just have the slow station fly by, a turn and maybe a dip and before the final brakes. The ride is pretty strong up until that point, imo. EDIT: Another idea is after that last inversion, have some low to the ground turns as a homage/reference to the original Bat.
  2. Although it would be tempting to choose one of the more intense/bigger coasters like Invertigo or Banshee, I voted for The Bat. The past few Winterfests I've walked back there (well, as far as I can go without trespassing - which is to say, a little past the Action Zone bathrooms) and was sad to see The Bat closed during the event. Though I understand that The Bat (and my second choice, Adventure Express) are Arrows and therefore, they can't run below a certain temperature, it would be great to have it open during this time (and on that note, I wonder if Adventure Express will be "winterized" during the offseason so that it could perhaps run during next year's WF). They could even have lights on some of the trees and festive signs in the area. Also, like I said, my second (and more realistic choice) would be Adventure Express... perhaps this will happen with the opening of Adventure Port... EDIT: I saw someone voted for Beast... that could be interesting during WF... it could even be rethemed to an abominable snowman like monster
  3. It did? And speaking of signs, I wonder whatever happened to the big Nickelodeon sign that was in Nick Central years ago?
  4. I like this idea. There is quite a lot of space back there (mostly thinking about the midway that was used by Cornered this year) for the space only being used a handful of times this season. Perhaps they make enough on merch, food and beverages to justify its existence? In any case, I’ve enjoyed the concerts at Timberwolf, so this is a great compromise.
  5. I noticed it was missing and wondered about that. If it does come back at some point, I hope it is moved to a trail in the woods rather than a midway. I think that would make a great setting and also people wouldn’t have to constantly be on guard to ensure that they don’t get run over by a horse!
  6. Agreed, it looks super cool; reminds me of Orion's (Haunt) light package! Here's a picture I took from the train:
  7. I saw they had a display in Emporium (or whatever it is called during WF) last night
  8. I had a great time tonight! After observing the Adventure Port construction, I rode Flight of Fear and the wait was longer than I expected. Saw What the Dickens, Tinkers and the Parade. What the Diskens was funny and a good way to start the Wintetfest season, but the other two were definitely highlights of the evening. Moving Tinkers from Festhaus to Kings Island theatre really improved the experience, IMO. The set was bigger with more detail, and people could (for the most part) focus on the show instead of other things. Though there was a malfunction towards the end (show ended early for some reason...), I was impressed and enjoyed the show (and I prefer the 2017 version of Tinkers to the fka "The Christmas Fever"... except ). The parade was fun and way better than last year. Had way more floats and performers this year, so that was good. Of course, I always run into people I know in the park and that's always good.
  9. Happy Thanksgiving as well! It's hard to believe I've been a part of KIC for a decade now. Time flies...
  10. I really like that song that plays! Also, that startup sound towards the end reminds me of Mystic Timbers.
  11. So, I actually dreamed about KI last night.... I was in the parking lot at night (and the park was apparently closed) and I could see Diamondback was testing for some reason. Also, there were a ton of people in the parking lot headed towards the gate (as in, the park entrance, which, IIRC, was closed). I asked why everyone was there and someone said "the park's closed!".
  12. Speaking of Diamondback, I'd like to give them a shout-out as well. There was one visit where I went with a friend and we noticed the crew was doing a great job with only 2 people in the station checking restraints (one on each side- we were told there were usually 3-4 ride ops per side).
  13. I would have to say The Bat crew. The last time I rode (last Saturday of Haunt), the crew was really haulin' and had a good pace going. Not only that, but they are amusing on the mic when dispatching the train. That being said, the biggest reason was that they helped me retrieve my Gold Pass one night after the Berlin concert. It was really cool to be back in the woods after park close and they did a good job helping me. Also, I want to add that it's amazing that The Bat was back up so quickly (after a few weeks as opposed to the rest of the season) after the accident earlier this year; The Bat is one of my favorite coasters at the park and I was nervous about its future. And as we all know, it was up and running (eventually with both trains) within a month or two.
  14. I would like to bump this topic and say that my last two times going through Chaos and Slaughter House on the last Saturday night of Haunt were very memorable!
  15. Oh man, where to start... I've been to Spiritsong countless times over the years! My first was around 2001 or so and I remember seeing the Newsboys, Michael W. Smith (I think, my memory is a bit foggy - I think I remember him performing the song I now know as "Live the Life" as well as a worship song, I think it was "Above All") and Superchick (they were brand new at the time - I specifically remember them rocking out in jumpsuits to their song "Get Up"). Throughout my teenage and young adult years, I went to Spiritsong most summers and saw Kutless, Red, Thousand Foot Krutch (saw them perform live for the first time there and it was garbage, however, their shows at The Underground were amazing), Hawk Nelson, Family Force 5, Group 1 Crew, and many others (I even worked Spiritsong one time while in Park Services!). More recently, I was given tickets to the 2018 version while at the park and saw Trala and For King and Country. Saw Crowder in 2019 (as part of SpiritSong) and that was a good show. This year, I saw both Skillet/Jordan St. Cyr and Berlin at Timberwolf and those were both fun shows in their own ways. And speaking of seeing shows from the Effial Tower, I saw part of Skillet's 2019 set from the Tower as well as heard Ledger (and later Tedashii) earlier in the day while walking through Action Zone.
  16. I always enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Sandwiches there... that was good stuff. Unfortunately, I'm not able to find many Grilled Chicken places in the park and I was not a fan of the one I had from Jukebox over the summer. Though this is getting off topic, Firebirds does have a pretty good grilled chicken sandwich; they put some type of seasoning in there that makes it really tasty! Getting back on topic, it would be unfortunate if Chic-fil-A closed at the park as it seems to be pretty popular. That being said, I think I've only eaten there once and that was to get waffle fries. Even outside of the park, I only get three things from their menu (fries, Biscuits and Mac and Cheese) as I'm a picky eater.
  17. Cool ideas so far; I too remember the rainforest sounds at the start of the ride (when I clicked the link to go to Youtube, one of the videos on the side was audio of the drum beats in the station (which is apparently from Tomb Raider)). And unlike others, I would love for that third tunnel (the supposed "volcano" tunnel) to go dark. I feel like the ride felt so much faster at night when those lights were out in the third tunnel. It was great to hit that long stretch and then feel an "oomph" in the side during the sudden right turn before exiting the tunnel. Also, the fog/mist effects sound super cool. I am all for the rainforest theming of the area, so the more the merrier for me!
  18. (Re: in bold) I kinda thought they’d do something different with the drop (as I saw part of a video either this morning or last night showing that the curved drop was removed), but it’s good to get a confirmation. Also, that layout picture is very helpful @DiamondbackFan. Thanks for (re)posting!
  19. Saw the video; looks pretty cool. Interesting choice going for a straight drop rather than Wildcat’s curved drop. A cool detail I noticed on the logo is that there are two claw marks- almost like “Wildcat II”.
  20. Does anyone know what time the announcement will be today?
  21. While doing my ride count totals for the season (as a good number of rides will be closed for Winterfest), I found some interesting things and I'd like to share some stats. My most ridden coaster this season is Orion (20 rides) while my most ridden coaster overall (since 2010) is still The Bat (251 rides total). My most ridden flat this year is Delirium (8 times) while my most ridden flat overall is Drop Zone (93 times). And while not on the Excel spreadsheet, my most visited Haunt maze this year was Slaughter House (12 times!). Getting back to the spreadsheet, one interesting thing I noticed is that since 2017, I have made one of the Arrow coasters (mostly The Bat) my last ride of the regular season. While most years it is The Bat, in 2019 Vortex was my last ride of the main season (because of course it was!) as 2019 was its last year. On a similar note, all my true last rides of the season (during Winterfest) have been different every year.
  22. While posting in the other thread, I totally forgot about Off The Rails. That was a fun show that (imo) acted as a "pep rally" for the 50th. It was a great high energy show that had just enough cool stuff without sensory overload!
  23. I'll give this a try, though I do have a more prepared list for Haunt since we just came off of that... Best Element: Fireworks show. I had never seen a drone show before in person and it did not disappoint. Though I got to see it in some cool locations (viewing it from The Bat's rainforest was really cool!), the final show I saw was probably the best viewing experience as I got the whole package (as I was able to hear the audio and see the building projections). Best Conventional Show: Phantom Theatre: Encore, only because I saw it the most out of the special 50 shows. I didn't know what to think at first, but it grew on me with repeat viewings. Also, Larry was my favorite character! Off the Rails was fun as well and acted as a "pep rally" for the 50th! Best Hidden Gem: Those Adirondack chairs outside of Brewhouse! I loved them so much, I got two for my backyard! Biggest Miss: Maybe the 50th "parade" because of how short it was? As you can tell below, this season was jam packed with epicness; things that didn't fit the mold of these questions are below Best Specialty Food Item: Golden Ice Cream (I'm a picky eater, so this is the only thing I tried...) Best 50th Merch: Although the posters started last year, I grew my collection with the addition of the Flight of Fear poster! Biggest Surprise: Getting FREE tickets to the Berlin/Flock of Seagulls show! Runners up would be finding out that Phantom Theater: Encore actually had a Meet and Greet when it previously hadn't had one and finding out that the park was open until 12 on July 3rd (which included that epic WWC ride with @malem) Rides I appreciated more: Banshee; I really enjoyed riding in the back seat as it reminded me of Rougarou! And I'd be remiss without mentioning other fun moments, like the book signing (+ dressing up for the 50th that day!), seeing Skillet rock it out once again at Timberwolf (and they actually played songs I knew instead of just pulling from their newest albums!) and meeting some people from Germany in line for a Beast night ride. There was also that time I lost my Gold Pass in line for The Bat (I accidently yeeted it into the bushes) and I got to walk through the line (and surrounding "rainforst") after close - that was also the same night as the Berlin concert and the rainforest viewing of the fireworks!). And for a Haunt list, I'd add "Best Scare", "Best Room in a maze" (which is not the same as the best maze) "Best theming" and of course "Best overall maze"
