  1. I felt a huge rattle after the hammerhead all the may until the MCBR. Pure vibration. Not intolerable just not glossy. It's 11 years old now. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  2. Got to take Orion for a spin in the backrow today and I enjoyed it slightly more than I did in row 4. The drop was really the only significant difference. This is definitely a must ride at KI and the backrow is where you'll find me. Also, I doubt he's on here but huge shout out to Ethan for being a cool ride op and helping me get the extra click I needed to ride. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  3. I second the neck gaiter. It has worked great for me at KI thus far. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  4. I'd say everything is at least 10-30 minutes. Yes, Orion is still doing tickets. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  5. Orion dispatches have looked quick so far. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  6. Nice try. Doesn't go both ways. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  7. June 13 was the only time I ever rode it. I am forever grateful I got to ride it that night. If I remember correctly my friends and I rode it 3 times in a row. I got off each time with a smile. I never did get to experience it with the loop. As for the ride experience, there was just something different about being on a wooden coaster that massive. I can remember the deafening sound of the chain lift as we rose to the top. The drop was by far the best part of the ride. It seemed like you were going down that 214 foot drop forever as the maximum angle of descent was only 55.7° if my memory serves me. Was it rough? Absolutely. I would probably not enjoy it nearly as much now as I did as a chubby 8 year old with a lot of tolerance for rough coasters. I get why most adults felt the ride was too unbearable to ride. That's beside the point. I remember the train doing a lot of bouncing, especially in the valleys of each hill. While the ride was making a turn, there was a whole lot of shuffling. You should definitely check out some posts on here back from 2007 when the new trains were being discussed. Kings Island did a lot of work to make sure the Gerstlauer trains were able to work for Son of Beast. I will always look back on SoB fondly, and miss it dearly. I believe I have a picture of me on it somewhere; we've been looking for it for years. My mom always knew I loved a ride when I came running down the ramp asking her to buy the picture. Sonny was one of those rides for me. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  8. My 5 year streak of getting last ride of the year on Flight of Fear from 2012 to 2016 was an awesome memory. Riding Vortex and realizing inversions aren't so bad was also a major milestone for me. Finally, I remember getting one last ride in on Son of Beast before leaving for the night, knowing I would ride it many more times afterwards...unfortunately that was June 13, 2009, a couple days before SoB closed forever. 9. And every driver has their own personal preference on how they want their car to handle, shift, and accelerate. Just like coaster enthusiasts have their preferences; i.e. inversions, height, speed, ejector vs. floater airtime. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  10. No such thing as an established coaster enthusiast. Everyone has an opinion, and they're all slightly different. Lay off. No need to blindly follow your coaster enthusiast idols.
  11. Also, I wish the lift hill didn't slow down at the top. I know it wouldn't add a ton of speed but there would be crazy ejector in the back. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  12. Orion is a solid coaster. The drop seemed to last forever and kept getting steeper and steeper. The wave turn was incredible and I did get some sideways airtime. The turnaround was fun, overbanked, and quick. It was amazing seeing how much taller the lift hill is than that 202 foot turnaround. The speed hill was incredible, one of the best moments of the ride. Then this is where the ride went sour for me. The floater hill is heavily trimmed; you would probably get some major ejector airtime without it. While the helix was fun and decently kept its speed, it wasn't anything special compared to how you fly through the other elements. Didn't really notice the headchopper as we headed into another great moment, the turn towards the brake run. Didn't experience the airtime others have mentioned (I rode in row 4) as we hit the brakes, but I certainly felt how hard those magnetic brakes hit at the end. We still had a ton of speed and its too bad we didn't get to use it. Can't wait to give it a couple more tries before I can firmly rank it. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  13. I'm 3 hours in with probably at least an hour or two more. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  14. When I got in line at 12:50 the line started across from the 3 point challenge. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  15. When the heck did Racer ever have a trim? Edit: Nevermind, I forgot about the turnaround.
  16. As KI has at least 4. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  17. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Seriously, this is such a relief. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  18. There are many people on this forum who have. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  19. Question to those that have already ridden Orion - are the restraints exactly like Diamondback? Meaning, it takes the same amount of "clicks" to ride? Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  20. After ~13 years, is the Flight of Fear on ride camera photo finally back? Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  21. I75 in Michigan, which is worse! This is coming from someone with SOB as his #1 woodie all these years later. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  22. Looks like it. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  23. It's very possible. I'm actually having trouble finding an invert with the ball joint supports. You can see the difference between ball joints and fixed supports on Afterburn and Rougarou. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  24. Late 90s I believe. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  25. Kumba, Kraken, and Rougarou were all built with ball joint supports, which has proved to add to the headbanging. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
