  1. If Universal is truly limited to only be allowed to build structures to 200 feet, then I can agree with them that the Skyplex should be held to same standards. If they allow Skyplex to move forward I would fight the 200 feet cap, if I were Universal. I really don't see it pulling profits away from Universal. There is too much going for Universal that a single tower coaster will draw too much attention away from them.
  2. I honestly don't think things are any worse today than they were in the days of my parents and grandparents when compared to population ratio's. The only differences today is there are many ways for bad news to spread as stated by Terpy.
  3. ^^ I'm pretty sure the box is hallow and not a solid piece of steel. No difference than the box on a B&M except no rails. If it was solid, Id think it'd be way too heavy to be of practical use and super expensive to build. With it being one solid piece instead of using rails, I think transitions and be made more fluently and smoother. But that is just a guess and we'll have to wait and see.
  4. As stated earlier, this past Saturday was super busy at the Fair as well as Kentucky Kingdom. I bought our Kentucky Kingdom tickets at Kroger prior to going for the discount but there were several people purchasing tickets at full price a the Gate. The midway at the Fair was also full of people so Kentucky Kingdom did not detract from Midway rides. People were enjoying both which was nice to see, both for the Fair and the Kingdom.
  5. Took my wife, 2 nephews and Sister in Law to Kentucky Kingdom/Kentucky State Fair Today. Wow was it busy for both. We arrived around 3:30 pm and gates were already shutdown due to lots being full. I've been to the Fair the last two years and have never seen a crowd like Today. The Kingdom was booming too. Lots of money being made today for both.
  6. Leah should get a sum of money that should set her for life. This is no mere scratch. She lost a leg which not only affects her now or tomorrow, but her whole life. It really is life altering and I pray that her strength carries her through her injuries.
  7. TTD is a hydraulic system as well. Hydraulic fluid is more viscous when cold. As the fluid increases in temp it becomes less viscous allowing higher pressure so the optimal temperature needs to be reach before the motor can be fully loaded.
  8. I'm just glad the kids were not killed. My prayers for the little ones that were injured. That is one flight I would not want to take.
  9. Maybe they could be trying to downplay the "Major" in the installation since the expected results are not what was originally expected.
  10. Speaking of translations, If Ed Hart could only translate guest complaints, criticisms, and meaningful suggestions. Kentucky Kingdom may be a better place.
  11. I have to say, Nights in White Satin: The Trip, was one of my favorite dark ride experiences. I'm just glad I had the chance to ride it as it only lasted one year. I was lucky enough to be stationed in Charleston when the park open and took the opportunity to visit the park. The ride was really well done.
  12. It's never too much to greet everyone you meet with with kind words and smile no matter the mood. You just never know the impression you could leave on somebody. Never take anything for granted as life changes so fast.
  13. I think the Louisville Market is just not big enough to support an amusement Park. There's too much solid competition with 1 to 2 hours that dwarfs the park in comparison. I do however think the Park would have had a better chance of being successful if it just opened as a Water Park. I think the Louisville Market is big enough to supported that. When I did go last year the Water park was busy. Much busier than the dry side of things. But then again the water park had more to offer than the dry side last year as well. Just thoughts although.
  14. The only thing that would entice me to go back this year would be to ride Thunder Run again before it's gone. Lightning Run was good. The ride is surprising for a smaller coaster. The bad thing for me was the seat design. There was a squarish block that dug into my back while riding which was uncomfortable at times. I have no intention on riding T3. I rode T2 18 years ago and still remember how horrible it was. Some things you just don't forget.
  15. Grass is just so over rated! More concrete please as it's so much more wonderful to look at. I live in Louisville and will not be visiting this year. I got my one time visit in last year. Enough for me. I will be heading across the river this year.
  16. So it seems the Fair Board may or may not have a Hart.
  17. I moved to Louisville a few years ago from Northern KY for an IT job. I visited the park last year as I have not been there since I was a child. I was unimpressed in the park overall. I visited in the early summer and It was already littered with tons of new graffiti. The park does have quite a gem of a roller coaster though in Thunder Run. I would only return this year to ride it again before it disappeared.
  18. I've been a member on here for a while. I mostly just like reading all your post and enjoying the personal opinions of all you of on the various topics. I just had to chime on this one as I thought of a partial solution to all parks. I understand that it is unfortunate that there are people that physically limited in what they can do. I do not however think that the ride operators should be the ones determining who can ride or not ride. I think parks should consider treating disabilities like they do with height requirements. People with disabilities can check into a centrally located spot where one or two people, medically trained personal, that can determine what they can and cannot ride. Assign then some sort of wrist band so that ride ops can determine if they are eligible. This takes pressure off of the rides ops and eliminates them from making any kind of medical judgment. We live in such a sue happy world days that every precaution has to be taken. Which is truly sad in my opinion. edited: Changed font size. Not use to posting.
