  1. For those who aren't aware, the paper shown above that someone obviously printed at home and brought to the park, was posted on here a few days back in an effort to troll the community. Due to the lack of source, the post was promptly removed. It now appears that whoever tried to post it here a few days back, went on to put it in the actual park when they couldn't get the desired attention on our site.

Why do people think it's okay to post misleading papers around on Cedar Fair's property? (It's not okay)

If the park wanted to tease a new attraction right now, they would. Let them do it in their own time.

In the words of Taylor Swift: "This is why we can't have nice things..."

Went past CSF today.... lots of track sitting outside. Appears to be the right size for a hyper/giga. Take a look and tell me what you think. The track is a dark red/brown color. I’d assume this is for a 2020 attraction.

Photo taken safely from the street (legally).

Although it is hard to make out the color in this picture, this is most likely the brown colored track for Hershey’s 2020 Hyper coaster.

So in other words, this IS NOT truly an "independent" site.  As of now, if Kings Island says jump, you guys say "how high?"  That's NOT what the average person here wants.  The small bones the park throws to this site is not enough for the type of censorship we see here.  It's ridiculous.

Have to agree with this post, above. Speculation, decoding, and putting the "pieces of the puzzle" together is part of what has made this site great in the past.

To say that moderation has been strange and questionable would be an understatement.

There is a true lack of transparency or consistency with the current moderation of this site. There are certain restrictions that I can understand, but there comes a point where the fun can be entirely drained out of things. And I hope that being "spoon-fed" by the park is not the reason that we must have the fun drained out of our conversations. I would suspect that in the coming year or so, if (when?) the park does decide to go big, many will turn to other outlets to discuss future plans, if restricted so heavily here. Although it had its issues, the "Decoding 2014" thread was a great place for everyone to discuss plans that had come out, share photographs that they took from the tower, and speculate on what would become Banshee. Under the current inconsistency and blatant non-transparency of things, I'm not sure that thread could exist now.

Is this site ran by the "community", or is it a puppet of the park?

Anyway, just wanted to add a bit.

I think each have had their own little issues...but nothing as major as these two and Lightning Rod at Dollywood.

It should also be noted that the trains used on both Steel Vengeance and Twisted Timbers were a completely new train design (from a technical standpoint) from RMC and they were the first coasters to use this design. Theoretically, this is what led to most of the issues. Unlike Twisted Cyclone at Six Flags Over Georgia, which had no major difficulties other than normal "wearing-in" new coaster hiccups. It was using the "normal" original RMC trains.

  5. Although I'm not sure of the origin, there's a photo on Twitter showing what appears to be the removal of the trees along the Royal Fountains.....

If they are actually taking this back to the original days with the designed shrubbery instead of giant trees blocking the view of everything, count me as excited. While I'm one who appreciates having trees both for aesthetics and shade, the trees along the fountains have truly been taking away from the overall beauty of the street and I, for one, can't wait to see the return of the original International Street.

Yeah somebody posted this earlier and in the daytime it's more obvious that they're a rusty unfinished raw steel color. Probably what it looks like before they sand them down and paint.

I do wonder where they're going. Could be for the Hershey hyper. Seems weird to make the track here and ship it overseas. I have NO idea what the timeline for a giga design and track manufacture looks like, so I don't know if they'd be pumping track out this early for a KI ride.

The Hershey hyper coaster, from all current indications, will have brown “chocolate” colored track.

  7. Well, I suppose it's that time of year again.

As far as what I predict will be coming, I'd have to start with The Racer. I don't think that the "activity" going on near the ride, and the people supposedly seen near the ride this season are a coincidence. Some type of refurb, in some form or another is likely to be announced.

Also, based on the teasers, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see the Antique Cars return. If I recall correctly, Cedar Point removed one of their antique car attractions not too long ago, so I suppose that CF could already have cars in their possession. The biggest question is where they would put them. The DA location seems reasonable, but also seems flat enough that it would be better suited for...... Something else in the future.

Now onto what I'd like to see announced tomorrow  :P

1.) Racer gets topper track retrack and Millennium Flyer trains, and yes, I know that's an odd combination, but just think of how awesome that would be! If not topper track, a GCI retrack would be appreciated equally.

2.) Coney Mall gets its sign back. This is something I've been talking about quite adamantly here, for quite some time.

3.) Entire Coney Mall refresh, possibly return of Ginkgo trees, and possibly a Gerstlauer Sky Roller (like SkyHawk at Canada's Wonderland) on the old Flight Commander pad.

4.) This last one's a bit far-fetched but I'll throw the bone anyway. Vortex gets the newer style Vekoma vest restraint trains (as were retro-fitted on Blue Hawk at SFoG a couple seasons back) and a station refurb.

  8. Really like the podcast! Definitely can’t wait to hear more! However, not a big fan at all of how there is a lack of involvement from the rest of the KICentral community. When this is a community built / based site, it’s somewhat strange that members can’t be a part of the show, but rather only the mods. Just my thoughts, but great work so far.

Maybe they just need to stop letting people in at the gate unless they have gold or platinum during early entry. It wild solve the fraud issues. People need to be honest and learn to abide by rules that are set.

I agree that folks should abide by the rules that are set, but isn't that the case everywhere in life?

Only letting in Pass-holders through the gate would not be comforting to those who use bring-a-friend tickets. These tickets are available as "Bring-A-Friend Any Day Ticket" on the Kings Island website. These tickets are used more than one might assume. The introduction of a pass-holder only early entry system would practically eliminate any sales they make on those tickets.

    Just my thoughts.
